more than half the thread is gone. would take forever to do. was up and untouched for days, mod decided it was time to destroy it when it evolved into a if this games not getting any better what else is there disscussion. only they removed much more than just that part. kinda why i just dont care anymore. on every other forum i have ever been on mods have always posted when they edit threads and atleast tried to keep the thread fluent while doing so.
And another point for lousy style goes to: Cryptic.
(They seriously want to contest EA this year, it seems, in the 'Worst producer' category.)
Yes, but they will not win it this year cause not enough people care about their games.
EA is a publisher, they don't make games per say they market them. PW is the publisher for the game, and probably controls the cash shop and the pricing, generally the publisher is worried about how much money can be made seeing they usually do all the marketing.
PW should have been my 1st warning coming into the game though, they dont have a good track record for proper management of there assets, or there customer service and satisfaction.
i really feel bad for people who fork out 35 dollars for a lvling package with a companion, or a mount. the game is a completely different game once you make it to mod 6 content. i know if i spent the money and got to endgame i would be pissed, and feel obligated to make my purchase worth it. otherwise its like throwing money out the window.
i found the companion upgrade system horrible too, it costs way to much and 5 ranks does not make a huge difference, if your getting your HAMSTER handed to you with a white, your still going down with a green companion lol good job wasting 300k ad.
Dungeons are only worth running because of the ultra-rare expensive T1 drops (emblem of seldarine, horn of lostmauth, etc) - which you then sell and basically turn into HAMSTER for refinement.
Bottom line:refinement is the devil. Who the heck thought up needing multiple high rank enchants to rank one up? Like taking a vorpal from rank 8 to 9 requires not only a fully refined rank 8, and a few GMOPS, but also another whole rank 8 vorpal. That HAMSTER is madness. I know it has always been like that; it was dumb two years ago and it is still dumb now.

the refinement grind stretches out your time spent in a game with very little real content too. if it we not for refinement they would actually have to develop expansive endgame content. they would need a proper endgame "progression" to keep people busy. a do this in order to x system, instead of grind my refinement stones and mabye some ad for the day.
instead we get boon zones, which is very limited content, that you grind for no reward beyond boons and refining equipment. even mod 7 is looking like its just gonna be another boon grind, and strongholds is going to have problems because i was in 3 guilds and none of them ever had that many people online. and alot of the people who were there usually logged in for a few mins a couple times a day to manage professions and log straight back out.
strongholds is gonna require a protector seal grind on top of the guild activities i honestly did not meet many T2 geared players exited to grind them all up then grind another zone for 5gs an upgrade.
thats another thing this game has wrong though, there is nothing that makes me atleast want to try to get all this junk. its just simply gonna make it somewhat easier the next time i get all that junk again and again and again, day after day.
As mentioned in other threads, no one is forcing anyone to follow the grind path laid out by the Devs.
So, just stop.
If enough players do this, they have to come up with something else, then just adding one grind after the other.
But as long as players just follow the grind... why change a running system?
they need to change it because according to server analytics that track neverwinters daily population over time, when an older player gets bored, there is no newer player taking it place. the population is declining, by thousands over the last year just from the source i checked, it could be more. their may be new players coming in, but they are not sticking around, whether the get bored in elemental evil and stop logging in, or if they make it to endgame and decide they dont want to take part in it we will never know. probably a combination of the two.

I'm of the opinion that they're already past the point of no return and the only reason the game hasn't been canned entirely is because it's a licensed entity of WotC, and it'd be a nasty blow to WotC.

If only you can run these dungeons without banging your head on your desk. MC and VT are nearly impossible to play due to being lagfests. The handful of emblems and shards in the AH tells you how many people are finishing these dungeons and getting drops.
eLoL boss fight has been very laggy lately, to the point that if you don't have a BiS GWF to burn the boss down quickly, you will get wiped by lag.
With all three T2 dungeons being nearly impossible to do except for a well-geared and well-coordinated group, you can pretty much forget about dungeons.
So what is left, beside having 12 enchantments, and 4 artifact equipment and 4 artifacts that need a staggering amount of RP just to get to epic, and an insane amount to get to legendary. If I was a new player, I would probably quit some time after level 60 after I get tired of constantly being one-shotted by trash mobs.

Ahh well.

Canning it will probably violate a contract unless its approved to be canned. How do you convince your partner to let you can the contract without penalty. You take away all profitability.
LO..my weird mind at work...
A arena event with Devs vs. Bots..and zone chat is full of roaring posts chanting Bots..Bots..Bots..!!! RAWR!!
The "Bot" issue on gateway is a red herring. It would have been so easy to have a query system installed so a bot couldn't log gateway if that was the "real" issue. Botters can do even more in game than on gateway, they will just go in-game instead of gateway to still earn their goods, and you guys have nailed the "real" issue. They created the RP system as a money grab/bottle neck content wise. The botters actually are hated by PW because the bots get around the AD manipulation by PW and shorten the BiS grind.
The first step they took to lengthen the content burn is to lengthen the 60-70 climb with more xp needed. They planned on folks taking months and months to get to 70. People that had it planned out in advance were at 70 within weeks. Then they had to fall on the RP to lengthen the climb to end game, the Bots are shortening that. They have to demonize them to give cover to whatever they are planning next. Strongholds is going to have a content/material mountain to climb to get to the next BiS stuff.
Well, it's apparently doing very well on the Xbone, but they don't have the disaster that is mod6.
Exactly. Mod 6 was an unmitigated disaster, as had been just about every patch since. Xbone players have the good fortune to not have encountered this yet.

... and they don't care about those numbers.
they just care about one thing, and that would be the money they get from players.
as long as the money numbers are looking good, they keep pushing more and more grind into the game.

This.
After grinding a few to get to lvl 70, some of the new gear (of which the higher tier isn't even worth the minimal stat + they give) and upgrade some stuff....hell...even logging in to do professions has become a chore.
Elemental Evil killed all the fun, balance (trash mobs sneeze on you and kill you, mobs drink potions for 50% of their HP while yours give 10% when 80% of mobs hit you for 3x100% HP etc etc).
But hell, I ain't mad.
All this led me to a new MMO which is loads of fun, has a nice storyline, has been quite rewarding till now and has united me with some good ol' guildies that had quit NW as soon as they tried the last mod.
Ok, cryptic and pw needs to make some money, no harm in that, but they have to bet their money where the fun is to make more money...they took a really odd path in this regard

I'll guess you'll just have to forge your own way upwards to find a new game... ;p
I'm also playing another MMO which is indeed much more rewarding for every dolar I spend, and also by my own effort playing my character to progress.
It doesn't have the foundry though, and that's the reason I keep coming back to see if they even plan on doing some small changes that would mean the world to us authors.

It's easier than that: Google forge+sky+mmo. Well, that works, but I'm a duckduckgo fan.
Yeah I've been investigating it, too. I've cut my neverwinter time way down because it's becoming too mind-numbingly painful and that other one consumes the neverwinter time I've given up. Mod 8 will be the defining factor for me with regard to whether I decide to hang around or not, to be truthful about it.
I agree wholeheartedly. I came over here excited about the new content (was playing FFXIV), and the sheer wall of difficulty, not to mention all the glitches, and the AD over-inflation...took outside of 5m to kill my desire to progress in the game. Of course, I never did much of the lvl 60 content (stopped playing shortly after my first few 60's in the games early stages), so i guess I could do that...but I'm honestly not interested in grinding that out only to hit the wall that is mod6. never felt so useless as a player character. It's quite likely that I'll need to grind out the other campaigns to get the stat bonuses just to survive mod6 content...but thats another huge wall of grind that new players will have to do just to get to the mod 6 wall...waste of time when i have games like FFXIV that actually have a stable and decent end game progression. SWtOR as well...they're actually coming out with a new expansion that has me excited.
I'll probably try the "mmo" that people are mentioning in this thread as well...saw it during it's early development and forgot it was there! If Cryptic/PW wants this game to survive, they'd better step up on the ball. the game had tons of issues from the get go...now that they're killing what was left of their dedicated fan base, they don't have much to go on.
It's too bad too...there were many concepts in this game That I was looking forward too (the enchantment system, the companion system), and I've never seen a company do so good of a job messing great ideas like that up.

Wait, does the Xbox have gateway?
The biggest problem is the RP system, methinks.

just look at

and then show me, what feedback did they actually listen to, and where are the changes from it?
anything about the difficulty?
anything about XP?
or at least anything about bug fixing?
