Classes other than cleric

Ive never play any other class than Cleric in PVP, Clerics have to aim a spell manually, do the other classes like thieves have to aim there x b y attacks? OR do they just need to get the aiming retical over the target and button mash?

Some classes have skills that you have to set the ground targetting in the same way as a DC would with DG, BoH etc.
