I've never noticed mind break ignoring unbreakable, if it does, that needs fixing, otherwise the power just needs help rather than senseless nerfs.

Stop randomly stating every little thing that needs fixing in CO. Like litterally almost every power could use some fixing in some sense of the word and that's just powers not taking into account EVERYTHING ELSE in the game...

NOHTING will be fixed and if you want a post that will get the attention of someone who may be able to have some kind of say in what is fixed DON'T post it here. Nothing you ever post in this section will remotely matter to anyone other than our small PvP friend circle we have in CO.

But yeah this was purely a joke thread, it's funny to see how threads change over time. :D

Main power that I think that's a legit concern for is ego storm. God, I miss old ego storm. Yeah, it's been years. I'm still bitter.

Mind break already gets no use in pve. Why bother with new telepathy when other people can bust your stacks?

I play a telepathy character built around stacking dots for mind break. I don't mind other people popping the stacks... in fact, I relish the idea of someone else spamming mind break while I just spam dots, because to me that seems like a fun example of team work.

Only reason I could imagine being upset that other people could pop my stacks is if I was concerned about my personal dps contribution going down, and I'm not sure where that would matter (I still do enough to register on Red Winter's score board)... but since my telepathy toon is squishy I don't really mind someone else taking the aggro :D

Remember when people just played games and had fun and didn't worry if number X was Z% bigger than number Y, and getting number A to value C as fast as possible with the smallest amount of playing.

Also I blame WoW for making that sort of thing so mainstream. Math and videogames used to be fun.

Legit concern about that, and why I stopped with telepathy: Those stacks work for support, too. Heals and such as. I realize I'm telling you a thing you know, but context for: If someone ruptures them at the wrong time it can have detrimental effects on the party as a whole. Now, 2 people applying the dots and one person as a dedicated rupturer of them? That's a party.

Nope. Even in the Neverwinter Nights days, which wasn't even a true mmo, we were twinking the hell out of everything. I even had one of mine featured by Bioware, Dwarven Defender with 30/- DR and Devastating Critical. "The Dwarven Wall".

What I do blame WoW for is the expectation that EVERYONE needed to be amazingly optimized. It's a game, not an arms race. Wait, I'm in the pvp board. It's an arms race, not a game.

I remember I had this dinky little half elf fencer character that didn't even wear armor, just a nice light blue outfit... just wielded a single rapier and nothing in the off hand. This one day this big old Orc with a pair of bastard swords starts talking all big smack, super confident in his devcrit build, so I was just like "Perhaps you'd like to duel about it?" and he was all "HAHAHAHA YOURE DEAD!"

The fight began. With my super high parry I parried every one of his first few attacks, then came my riposte... it critted, I also had devcrit. He dropped like a sack of bricks. Boy was he mad about that. A triumph of theme over cookie cutter min/maxing o3o

Yes that. When it stopped being about the cool stuff happening on screen and became more about the numbers scrolling by in the combat log, and people looking down on others for number nonsense.

Arguably, that is min/max. Parry was amazingly broken in duels, and a rapier could crit (and trigger a dev) on every other attack. Craziest **** I've ever seen was a halfling that did something like that with 2 daggers. Tiny thing, but I don't think I ever saw him lose a fight. Hell, best duelist I had was similar, samurai wearing robes, dual wielding katanas with devcrit. 8 parry attacks, you could duel 2 people at once and still pop em both in 3 ripostes or less. Thematic as hell, too, he was based on Miyamoto Musashi.

To be fair, though, the adamantine dwarf was actually a theme. RP character, believe it or not. Meta at the time stated that you needed to be a sword and board fighter to be viable in a tanking situation, and 2 handers were specifically for damage. Mine was supposed to be a viking berserker style, just didn't care if he got hit or not because he's too busy trying to separate your head from the rest of your body. But, that's a bit of a tangent.

Yes that. When it stopped being about the cool stuff happening on screen and became more about the numbers scrolling by in the combat log, and people looking down on others for number nonsense.

Thankfully, CO seems more immune to that mindset than most other MMOs. So many ways to get the numbers to do what you want, makes it so you can kinda just have fun with how you get there. Major upside to our powers not getting messed with too much is everyone's finding out cooler and cooler combos that fit a theme and still kick a ton of ****. The few times I've been able to pvp with my connection, it's been pretty amazing how diverse the builds have been.

Seems silly to be *that* worked up on raw numbers in a super hero game. It's not like we have hardcore raiding or anything like that.

Judging from what you're saying, primary school maths was fun for you ;-p

Anyways, maths makes a world of difference in every game and in our lives too. Always was, always will be. This is the reason it was invented.

Haha yeah games aren't actually that complex maths wise even going into what the game designers use. The most complicated it will get is making the engine but you don't have to get too into that at all.

Anyway maths is only a language, which is a form of art. It was something we use to communicate something and describe something, a lot of people don't seem to understand that though. :D

I don't really feel there is any need to truly number crunch in CO however, you can pretty much just keep throwing random things together and you can get a feel for which is better without even looking at a single number...

Hey now spinny. Everyone knows that I'm on a long-running campaign to get the most broken power nerfed.

I'm of course talking about Tractor Beam.

Also, I jumped in bash and ZA yesterday quite a few times on a non-optimized (if heavy hitting) toon. Didn't get farmed, and I only got spawn killed once. Only bit of possible ill will I noticed was a person winning bash getting mad that they were getting double-teamed, but that's kinda the nature of the game and it wasn't nearly as toxic as I've seen it in the past.

I think I'm convinced now, it's about time to sort one of my toons into a proper pvp build again. That was a blast. This community gets a bad rap, and BASH is way more fun (and polite) than it's ever been. Hell, I even got 6 kills in the last late night run, and that's not a pvp build.

Damn shame the acclaim is useless.

Well yeah the thing with tractor beam is despite being a 100% chance to knock it isn't that bad as it's only when they get into melee range which in CO is like almost never. Compared to geyser which is 100ft it's an trolly power to use but isn't used by many people for a reason.

Also I don't know if you were there the one time I got angry at eve for spawn killing me 3 times in a row to let jewel win, it was kinda annoying especially because I was recording that one. ;D

Wait, people actually use tractor beam?

Fine, I'll amend that to grapple gun pull. :D

Nah, I missed that. But I get being annoyed at that sorta thing, or being teamed up on. I don't even get mad when I'm spawn camped, but I bet it's frustrating when you're recording it. It was me and jewel (granted, not full out assault style, we were kinda hanging back and doing it "bruce lee vs the mooks" style) double teaming someone else. 's part of why I'm fixing my build, I have the dps, but it doesn't quite close the deal if someone's pretty hefty on the defense. That and the squish is too damn high.

Well I would of been on for a slick 10-0 with double kills in which would of been a really nice recording until jewel managed to kill me with eve and then eve managed to get me 3 times after that where others didn't know I had just spawned knocked me to let eve kill me. <_<

And yes grapple gun pull is literally one of the most useless powers as it even had a very unreliable knock to that all it seems to do is stack knock resistance, and it has the smallest amount of damage on it so using it while in smoke grenade for lols isn't even viable. Tractor beam however is on the more viable half of the CO powers.

It's funny because Eve is one of the dirtyest players in the game, but nobody ever really says anything about it.

Well, except that one time you yelled at me for getting spawn camped by her........which can't really count as you calling her out on it now can it? u.u

It's maybe because she make her build keep squishy and feel some policy from her playstyle.

I decided to start typing because there was no point pushing my controls when I was dead before the "standing up" animation after respawning was finished. That animation locks you out of your controls, you know? :3

I mean sure, you're right, I should be like other people and start ranting and raving and spewing salt into zone chat about it... but instead I chose the "just get it over with since nobody is gonna help me anyway" approach. The irony of you complaining about me typing... when you were too busy typing to stop it from happening o3o

I still find it funny how salty you were about the fact that neither you nor anyone else could stop her though uwu Eve truly is one of the best BASHers ever... perhaps one of the best COPVPers ever o3o

It doesn't work so well with flight powers which Eve is uisng currently though, they are mainly spending their time in BASH up above people seeing as no one on the ground ever looks up in CO.

As to SPECTRE not attacking each other I usually notice a lot of you don't attack each other as much as others unless you are having a laugh and harassing one of your own SG mates. Eve for certain will not really go for you that much Jewel yet loves to stalk me in BASH. ;D
