This, this so much. I'm sick and tired of people claiming various games suck, blah blah blah, then admit that they barely even played it.
I have to really strongly agree with you their sir/miss. I hate it and it makes me sick (no joke) eveytime people do this.
I think they are just upset over the loss of CoH or what ever it was called. and to be fair this game is not OURS if they don't like whats beening put in it just live with it and play the game.
and if they hate it so much why do they keep playing?, sure I love this game and hate it, and I'll fairly share my complaints but like this spam over spam on posts. I have to agree with jedite, a little over the top of negativity. But Yes but these DO count as spam threads they SHOULD be closed since they are all the same thing.
But not my choice to make, and I love to see the posts people make that they get upset by and I see the more we post the more we bring each other as a big group  ...sort of?
Another game, since this one controls horrible. If DCO did something right was the control, it made your char feel like a ******n superhero, this one is just PWI repainted. Okay i didn t play past the intro, but i m guessing the controls aren t going to change much, plus i already got a headache.
The control for DCUO is just plain bad on a keyboard. CO give you the option to set up your controls as you please if you bother to look in the options window. Get up to level 20 here and realize just how little DCUO offers in combat and customization.
Not being able to use your weapons willy nilly without a target does not make this game bad.

good controls? DCUO? you're kidding right.
keyboard, all your weapon attacks are on 2 mouse keys, you have to hit you button up to TEN times to do an attack.
You can see the game was made for consoles. CRAP keyboard/mouse controls.
Made me feel pissed off, everytime I got a new attack, trying to remember what all the combinations of hold/click/tap are .
Then you have your BLOCK on the mouse too, 1 per key. So you have a chance of blocking instead of attacking.
This is supposedly good controls? bullsh...
then there is trying to scroll down the list to see what you have. Trouble is, you can't, you have to click the lowest one and hope you can see a bit of the next one to click.
as opposed to you, I played more than the tutorial. I have a L30 on there plus 10 others of varying levels with diferent powers, boring as ****, faceroll city... comes to mind.
I've played the same mission for both sides on the same day and its the same.
The only ime I've teamed to do any missions, was ONCE when someone asked to team for Bane and for the ALERTS.
The rest is ridiculously easy to solo.
trying to create a character, you go through then reverse back top change anything. IF you can work out how to change anything.
This game was out years before PWE took over. So no, it's not a copy of another companies game.
What is this stupidity in telling someone that they should suffer through content if they want to finally have fun in the game? If the game isn't fun after wasting 20-30 minutes playing, that's the fault of the game, not the player.
The default control for CO do suck which is why I spent a lot of time changing them. I wouldn't expect most people to waste time figuring out a suitable control scheme just so they can enjoy the game. That's what Cryptic should be doing. I actually started using a controller for CO because it was so much fun to do so in DCUO. Except I heavily remapped all of the buttons for CO. Which I shouldn't have to do.
Anyway, I normally wouldn't care about vehicles, but as time has gone on, I see more and more of them. Recognizing another player is pretty cool. Seeing their costume and chosen power set. Normally iconic for them. Vehicles take all of that away. It makes me a bit sad.

You are correct in saying that if the game isn't fun for someone after 30 minutes it is not the fault of the player. You are mistaken in saying that it is the fault of the game. There is no fault in one person not finding a particular game to be fun. Name the most enjoyable game you've ever played and there will be people for whom it isn't fun.
Personally I don't find fault with CO's default controls. I also don't think that allowing you a pretty wide range of freedom to customize them to suit your personal play style is a bad thing that you, "have to," do. I don't like the default costume, but that doesn't make the ability to create whatever look I want for a character something that I, "shouldn't have to," do right ?
What is this stupidity in telling someone that they should suffer through content if they want to finally have fun in the game? If the game isn't fun after wasting 20-30 minutes playing, that's the fault of the game, not the player.
Oh, maybe because those first 20 to 30 minutes "aren't fun" for various reasons that have nothing to do with the rest of the game? Maybe the early game just isn't the person's style but approaches what they're looking for later on? Perhaps the person needs to grow familiar with the game controls? Or it could be that 20 to 30 minutes just isn't enough time to grow skilled at a game?
I prefer to play games longer before I judge them, because I realized a while back that it's usually my unfamiliarity and preconceived ideas that held me back on games I was having a rough time with. Once I overcame those internal obstacles, I quickly learned that those games weren't so bad after all.
And I laugh out loud at the idea that the controls in Champions Online are "terrible." They're among the most simplest controls I've encountered in a game.
Except I heavily remapped all of the buttons for CO. Which I shouldn't have to do.
And I didn't have to remap anything when I used my Logitech gamepad.
When that finally disintegrated and I switched to an old PS2 controller running through a too cheap USB converter I had to invert the axis on a few things to make things work but I didn't hold that against CO.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

A lot of MMO's i play use the default keys like wsad and 1234, i cant stand that so i just key bind em to the arrow keys and the number pad.
So even though the controls are bad just key bind them to your liking, don't have to use them...unless the game doesn't allow key bind which is....stupid
Because as we all know, every tutorial is a high water mark in the game, and not a tedious slog that you have to work through so you can get to the actual meat of the game. CO, especially, with your one attack and no travel power. That's totally indicative of the game as a whole, and... I'm sorry, I just sprained my sarcasm bone.
Even different *power sets* control differently, I'm not sure exactly what is being said here.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
Actually, the tutorial in CO is sort of set up OK. The opening cut scene sets up that YOU are a hero and **** is going down. Pretty good incentive to keep going. If the core combat of the game is terrible, being level 40 isn't going to make is less icky. You should be able to have fun in combat straight from level 1 and the thought of unlocking new powers to enhance your fun should be exciting.
Part of being hooked right at the start is the feel of the game world. After the awesome cut scene, that isn't conveyed very well. Defender is calling on you for help and then Mayor Dopey asks you to run some errands. ... ... Badass hero denied!
Story and combat are equally important. SWTOR totally failed on the combat for me even though I thought the story was awesome. So instead of buying it at launch I will never play it again. Ever. Not even now that it's F2P because I doubt they will magically replace the combat and leveling system with something better. Plus, the memory that the KotOR games turned into this will never go away. Instead of using a combat / leveling system based on the original games, they opted for a half-**** WoW system. *shakes fist* Argh!
... OK, I'm done.
At lower levels with limited powers and ability, the story needs to compel players to keep going and the combat should be fun enough that people don't feel like they're just slogging though to the next story bit.

Personally, I'm getting tired of this poor horse being flogged. It stopped moving months ago.
Don't like vehicles? Don't use them. I don't, aside from being a quick travel method for toons whose concepts don't include flight or superspeed.
No.
This "horse" is far from immobilized. They keep making more and getting more powerful weapons too. If anything the horse has been galloping along at a steady pace while the rest of the new content development in this game has been hobbling along intermittently.
What I'm getting tired of is this... apologist attitude towards vehicles. That's not directed at you specifically, but you are kind of championing that problematic attitude in quite a few of your posts over the past couple years. Hysteric? No what I am is tired of vehicles, as the topic title asks.
And while it's true that the better solution in that situation would have been to improve the enemy AI (which could have been done in the previous times, including Shadow Colossi) so this kind of thing doesn't keep happening, it's also true that players farming in MMOs will always go for the more efficient means of doing so. There's an imbalance. You're only kidding yourself if you are set in thinking there's not. *shrug*
I am curious, how long does it take a vehicle to kill the Mega D in MC. I am not going to try it, i despise vehicles and never going to use one
Just curious

It would also prob be easier to implement overall since there isn't any time needed to 'balancing' vehicle stats or powers. It could still have been very profitable for Cryptic.
Too late now. Now I just doze off in SC and LI cause most active players (including me) have a good vehicle now and those instances really no longer have any semblance of interest or challenge in that case. I think I have less SC tokens than F&I ones cause I just dun wanna wait around for vehicle-dominated stuff anymore.

Same here. Part of it is that vehicles are so one dimensional by design. Get expensive Mk2 vehicle to facetank everything. Get expensive weapons, spam for 15 minutes to win. In the vehicle rampages it's like
Incen Round
Incen Round
Incen Round
Incen Round
Then boss appears.
Plasma Beam
Plasma Beam
Plasma Beam
Plasma Beam
As I asked in another thread, how can players possibly feel a sense of achievement for doing that?
I also have the same experience playing actual vehicle rampages. They are so easy as to be boring. Simply spam the correct attack (IR vs. mobs, PB vs. boss) and eventually the reward circle appears. Even with a totally random pickpup group, it's that easy.
You misread me, Agent. I'm not championing vehicles by any means. I have a couple that I've picked up for free; they're used only as travel powers, or sometimes against really ridiculous threats (Takoface during the Halloween Blood Moon, for instance).
No, the "dead horse" to which I refer is the regular occurrence of threads like this one, complaining about vehicles, as if that were somehow going to magically cause them to disappear from the game. They're here now. Don't like them? Don't use them. I don't (aside from exceptions mentioned earlier, and if I hadn't gotten them for free, even those exceptions wouldn't apply). But the genie is out of the bottle, and it ain't going back in any time soon. Flogging the poor equine is not going to make it get up and move.

Let's recap what we've seen from Cryptic since Fatal Err0r ended:
- Takofanes II lockbox, with the same old Halloween Blood Moon event
- Tako II lockbox carried over, with no corresponding event
- Holiday 2013 lockbox, with the mildly tweaked Christmas event
- Heartstring lockbox, with no corresponding event
- Foxbat lockbox, with a revamped return of the April Fools Day event
- Steel Shadow lockbox, with no corresponding event
So that's one cleverly rewritten sorta-annual event, one barely modified annual event, one completely unchanged annual event, and three lulls between events that are at least being used to fix bugs now. Since Cryptic has painted themselves into a corner on monetization, though, they can't stop the lockboxes, because key sales are all that's propping up development, which is now apparently reduced to slightly-to-moderately revamped annual events.
And people wonder why I'm such a fatalist about this game.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
Vehicles will stay, because atm Cryptic simply has nothing else to sell.
They did too many poor choices before and closed for themselves too many other ways of monetization.
I'm sorry, but to change anything, CO would need to be shut down, rebuilt and reboot as a new game.
That's why I'm in agreement with Jon on this one - it is that way and it will remain that way. Throwing fits again and again will not magically change it. It's just pointless mental masochism.
And the more pointless it is, the more it just slips into pure whining territory.
We know how bad things are with CO.
And?
It will not change just because we write te same posts again and again.
Frankly, I don't believe this forum represents enough of the game population to make devs taking us seriously.
It's not Cryptic that has to be convinced to stop with the vehicles. It's the players who buy them. The only logical reason as to why we keep getting a new vehicles is because the previous ones were profitable and that vehicles in general are in demand.
I'm still having fun with my vehicles...sorry if that is getting in the way of your fun somehow. Well actually I don't see how it could be...I barely use them in open missions(I might if other people already are) and when I see someone trying to do something where I am happily zapping stuff I tend to find another spot. My vehicles are not OP by any means, they're far from having the best mods and ideal weapon loadouts...and compared to what I get from most of my characters on foot...survivability wise it sometimes feels like I'm strapping my characters into a steel coffin.
..and guess what, vehicles are a thing they include in lockboxes... just like new costume sets, costume bits, mods, gear, questionite crates, drifter salvage, and all the other stuff that gets included in every single new lockbox. You can be for or against lockboxes...that's fine, but I think it is a bit silly to get frusterated about vehicles because they include a new one in every new lockbox.
At least you don't interfere with non vehicle players.. No matter where I am questing a vehicle just comes and nuke the whole quest area...especially high level zones
And one time duelling in the middle of the MC circle, I almost defeated a player then he transformed into a vehicle and nuked me
At least you don't interfere with non vehicle players.. No matter where I am questing a vehicle just comes and nuke the whole quest area...especially high level zones
Well, while this rarely happens to me, it has happened. It gets me a little... pissed off.
I seem to be missing one. My stealth hawkwing's gone.
It's not gone - it's just that damn stealthy.

As I asked in another thread, how can players possibly feel a sense of achievement for doing that?
And playing by myself since Aug 2009

They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
ID4 was a 2 hour commercial for the Mac.
Same here.
No. CO would have been covered in syrup and eaten by a Giant Space Troll by now if it were a pancake.
..and guess what, vehicles are a thing they include in lockboxes... just like new costume sets, costume bits, mods, gear, questionite crates, drifter salvage, and all the other stuff that gets included in every single new lockbox. You can be for or against lockboxes...that's fine, but I think it is a bit silly to get frusterated about vehicles because they include a new one in every new lockbox.
And one time duelling in the middle of the MC circle, I almost defeated a player then he transformed into a vehicle and nuked me
Well, while this rarely happens to me, it has happened. It gets me a little... pissed off.
I seem to be missing one. My stealth hawkwing's gone.
Obviously, I hate the vehicles.
