Rocket fist Power

edited August 2014 in Suggestions Box
If you know me, you know why I very dearly want this as a usable power (outside of the Destroid become) because it's a ranged-fist based knockback.

Even if the animation is Just that of the Annihilator bots fist, I desire the power itself (I wouldn't think it'd be hard it would be to have the power just read what's on the Glove/Bracer Costume slot for the animation, but then I'm not a programmer.)

I actually went ahead an made a concept template for a rocket fist attack (this is entirely opinion made;
Rocket Fist

Basic Info
Requirements; Tier 2
Framework; Power Armor
Damage Type; Crushing
Power Type; Ranged Attack
Power Family; Technology
Method; Tap , Charge
# of Ranks; 3
# of Advantages; 2
--
Cost 19-46
Damage; 146-574
Activation Time; .5 sec
Charge Time; 1.5 sec
Range; 100 feet
Lockdown; Yes
Knock Type; Knockback
Knock Strength; 4.4-17 feet
Knock Scaling; Rank (both), Strength (knockback)
Stat Scaling; Melee Strength scaling
Applies Enraged; 50%
Max Enraged stacks; 8
Effects; Enraged on 50% charge only

-------------

Rocket Fist (Rank 2) - 2 Advantage Points
      + 175-689 Crushing Damage
      + 5.2-21 foot knockback

Rocket Fist (Rank 3) - 2 Advantage Points
      + 211-826 Crushing Damage
      + 6.3-25 foot knockback

Crippling Challenge (3 Advantage Points)
+ Increases the threat caused by this attack, making enemies more likely to attack you.
+ Places a 20% damage debuff on the target that persists for 15 seconds. If the affected enemy attacks the taunter, it will quickly reduce this debuff's strength. Conversely, damage the taunter inflicts on the taunted enemy restores the debuff's strength.
+ This advantage Taunts an AI controlled enemy, forcing them to attack you for 4 seconds. All taunts share a 10 second cooldown, and an enemy that has been taunted by any source cannot be taunted again for 10 seconds.
+ Crippling Challenge breaks through blocking and disables it for 10 seconds.

Grappling Fist (2 Advantage Points)
Rocket Fist becomes a knock towards instead of a knockback.

*Rocket Fist
      + 146-574 Crushing Damage
      + 4.5-27 foot knockto

*Rocket Fist (Rank 2) - 2 Advantage Points
      + 175-689 Crushing Damage
      + 5.2-34 foot knockto

(* With Advantage)

If you skimmed through that, you may have noticed that I have the attack scaling with Strength, as opposed to Ego. This (while still just my opinion) creates an opening for a power-armored themed Strength based Range set. (in Contrast to Ego blades, which uses Ego for melee attacks) While I have other ideas bouncing around that could fit into that theme, Nothing as concrete as the Rocket fist.

If you have other ideas you could throw onto such a powerset, or any criticisms on the Rocket fist then by all means I'd love to hear it.

There are tons of powers that only enemies have. Some are signature effects that maybe only enemies should have (like the bubble gum trap from Foxbat), but many would be wonderful for heroes to have available.

These powers would need to be balanced and fleshed out with tiers and advantages for heroes, though.

In general, just having powers that we could use with Mechassasin/Warlords gun would be nice. *for silvers that can't make things fire out of their fists, that is*

More PA and specifically more comic book style PA powers would be a welcome addition.

Update; While I -think- it'd be as simple as having the projectile read what's in the Glove/Bracer slot for the fist, In the event that such a thing ISN'T doable, Having a static image of say a boxing glove would be JUST as adequate, Just having the power itself is worthwhile.

ALSO this would be a perfect reason to include a boxing glove Costume piece.

Seems kinda odd that such a simple costume piece wasn't included at launch.

That being said is there a way to change the topic title to "Rocket Fist Power/ Boxing Glove Costume" ?

There already is a power like that, though.

Though this also gave me another idea; extendo-fist. Same concept really, except your fist fires off via chain attachment/Spring load/Stretchy arm/Ect. Also even more of a reason to spec off of Melee/Strength while being a ranged attack.

How would everyone feel if Trauma were added to a rocket fist power? Seeing as we're limited with Trauma as it is.

Since we already have the animation in game, wouldnt be so hard to implement this. I love the idea, specially the knock-to adv that could be useful to melees. Besides, the more power variety the better - players love having options.

So with that, we're looking at

    Rank 2 (2pt)

    Rank 3 (2pt)

    Crippling Challenge (3pt)

    Grappling fist (2pt)

    and Trauma (2pt)

All that being said, giving it trauma might be overkill, but we could use more powers with Trauma. even if it's not this.

Yeah... if anything, a melee power should get Trauma (maybe one in Telekenisis?). Ranged already has it good enough.

I think Pestilence and Ebon Ruin have their places in heal debuffing/trauma. In my opinion, the problem is people slapping on ER with extreme ease and no consequences. But I wouldn't see a problem with it if they had to seriously invest in it.

Or they could just remove trauma from Ebon Ruin and instead buff its DoT damage.

Pestilence at least has limited range... of course that only benefits ranged players, since it has plenty of range if you're fighting against a melee.

While I wouldn't complain if they removed Trauma from ER, I at LEAST wish they made it require a full charge to apply it.

Yet any suggestion to that, or to make the two melee powers have it built in, are laughed off by people who treat ER as though it where the saving grace of pvp.

Anyway this has nothing to do with Rocket fists, lets get back to that one, shall we?

    Probably magnets.

That said I am also open to the idea of an extendo fist of sorts, maybe a 0 point perk that lets you change it from your default arm/ flesh color to a robotic twine/chain of sorts.

For how this could look, the cyborg girl character in Tekken: Blood Vengeance (it's... Not as awesome as it sounds. That said, it has a incredibly powerful Chinese girl ride a Panda at the speed of sound down a heavy traffic street, and nobody blinks an eye at the Panda existing, it's just "yeah, there's a panda there, and yes, it's incredibly fast, what of it, fellow character in this movie?") has the ability to make her fists propel out of her hands, which she later dubs "Rocket... PUNCH!"

And it looks kind of awesome when she uses it.

So, to describe for people who don't want to check it out on the Tube of You, Basically...

    Wrist Bolter animation stance.

Fists, or if we have to make it more... power armoury without being a cyborg, a cylinder or bullet the size of the fist enamates from the hand.
Meanwhile, a small firey aura enamates from the hand, obscuring it.
The bullet goes to the target, as per usual boomyness, and when the power is done, aura disappears, revealing the hands have grownback/rematerialised/etc.

With the Gun Arm costume piece, it should fit within its bulky size, allowing it to be a big blast from the gun.

Though really, you'd get your fists back the same way gun/PA toons have unlimited ammo, Devastator/Hw's have weapons that are bigger than they are on their person when not in combat, and how slashing people up with Single/dual blades doesn't actually KILL anybody.

    It's a video game :v
