Bruce Campbell is not a B-list actor.

He is what you get when God goes on vacation.

Hell yeah. It takes an amazing kind of man to say yes to Alien Apocalypse.

Fashionably late to the party twenty odd pages-in.... *ahem*..... but "Hi Radioscience! (and Cryptic-North), and welcome to the forums!".

With regards to your comments on four-wheeled vehicles not being possible with the current tech currently in-game, Rob Overmeyer once commented in his tenure as Executive Producer that 'throwing-shield-tech' for the way he would of liked a shield power-set archetype implemented, was not currently possible because Cryptic quote/unquote "did not currently have the tech" - So my advice for you guys, for all of the top-brass there you communicate with at Cryptic's CO development meetings - is to plan, to invest and to make this happen. Don't just keep saying "we don't have the tech."
We are now over four years into the life of this game and many veteran players who held out hope for the longest time and contributed much to the old archived forums have left the game with the distinct impression that Cryptic-Studios are not serious about investing in the game, (and by serious I mean to the extent that STO has been invested in).

Is anyone there at Cryptic North able to give any assurances that the future is not lock-box-heavy and 15-minute alert content?, because your saying that; ...."we are paying attention to your feedback about the events this year" makes me think PWE/Cryptic is still eager and focused on the current content strategy which (in my honest opinion) will not see the game blossom into it's potential.

Are we ever going to see a new full-content zone the size of Vibora-Bay or bigger? - or is the future of new locales retricted to alert content qualifying as such?.
I've been asking since 2010 onwards, and this was the last I heard on it:

Q: Mothers_Love: Do you see a Champions-Online MMO eventually including more locales from the IP as full-zones?. I?m talking Shamballah, Well of the Worlds, Arcadia; the City of gold and Atlantis in-particular.

A: There is a lot from the IP that we want to be able to bring to you. As far as content goes, we want to be able to take you to a variety of locations and provide a story that is fun and compelling. Full Content Zones of IP locations is a bit of a stretch in this year and is not on the current 2011 release schedule. We are focusing on bringing you the Comic Series and some other really cool content that will surely make you feel heroic. I am going to be a little vague on that last bit for now. Discussion for a new zone could start later this year but I will say again I would rather get an endgame system and zone in before a new Content Zone.

    ......

To Cryptic North - Please!, Do the Hero-Games IP Cryptic-Studios bought, justice!.

Seriously, Over four years on and there is still no Ravenswood Academy (as an alternating levelling path and storyline), no Shamballah, no Agharti, no Arcadia:City of Gold, no Well of the Worlds, no Sunday Pond, no Hudson City, no 'Gateway' Until Space Station, no Atlantis, no Lyonesse.
Can you Imagine Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO four years down the line still with no Tatooine, Korriban, Hoth, or Corescant in-game?, no?.... well why does PWE/Cryptic think it's acceptable to treat the thirty-year-old Champions IP so poorly regarding it's online incarnation?. Talk about wasted potential!.

All these missing locales from the IP are all crying out to be developed as iconic full-size full-content locales in-game similar to Vibora - not skimped-on by briefly by setting an alert in said locales and making out that an invisi-walled-off alert-enviroment qualifies - as has been done in the past (Multifaria I'm looking at you).

I would also highlight as others have of the Nemesis-system being expanded and also of the enviroments of the Ren-Centre crafting buildings and the crafting system being looked at again. We wanted crafting to be improved not binned and an exercise in grinding to replace it. Also the specialist enviromental areas of crafting around Ren-Centre (Mystic/Science/Tech/Arms etc) instead of being celebrated and improved as areas of diversity in a game where too often a player's character levelling story can be too generic regardless of what discipline they choose.
The in-game enviromental immersion of the different Ren-centre crafting schools is horrible now, replaced with a generic feel in an enviromental exercise and excuse to flog us grind-worthy or cash-for zen costume items. I just want to buy them in the good ole c-store.

Please do something about spending a little time to label in-game NPCs with their bio-descriptions. Clicking on a villain, a boss or a unique character like Grond in-game and reading 'default_villain' or something to that extent - well, its just pure lazyness and it does not give a good impression to new players re: quality control by Cryptic-Studios.

So much more to post re: stuff that needs sorting in-game, a defined direction and consistant creative and developmental strategy needed for the game as well as the shocking communication of late (how fifty people can ask the same question on the last Ask Cryptic and they get no answer whatsoever - well, I just don't have the words).
It is somewhat understated to say that the well-overdue 'State of the Game' would be most welcome. Please afford this some thought.

I also appreciate Cryptic-North are relatively new with regards to working on Champions-Online, and the above criticisms are of course not of your making - but I guess in-a-nutshell I'm wondering if Cryptic-North are going to be given the resources and opportunity to seriously improve Champions-Online for the better?, - or whether they will turn-out to be just a studio which as been acquired, rebranded and tasked with developing the current lock-box and alert-content strategy by PWE/Cryptic.

Seriously hoping for the former to be honest!. Best of luck!, and I look forward to both reading and seeing eventually what you all have in-store for us in the future!.

On topic. I want to be honest and voice this to our new friend.

I'm going to be harsh, and honest. I'm not attacking you as people. Please, I beg of you, read this with an open mind. I will honestly thank you up front for not only addressing us, but the bug-fixing is greatly appreciated.

CO has MASSIVE potential. I do love this game, despite how harsh my criticisms can be.

    And that's the problem.

This game does not live up to its potential. Do you want to know one of my main gripes?

I feel like I've been given the coolest box of Lego minifigure pieces ever. I can literally make anything my heart desires. I see others take these little pieces and build monsters, zombie samurai, cyborg ninjas, black ops commandos, superheroes, aliens, and all sorts of cool stuff. But the problem is, despite how cool it is- we get the old chewed up box of basic bricks and there's really nothing to build beyond our minifigures.

I'm not being the hero I want to be. I'm looking like the hero I want to be and playing a really, really bad story.

I'm not even kidding. CO's writing is absolutely terrible. I've seen people try to justify it by saying it's a 'Silver Age' story. If that were the case, then the only options we should have in the tailor should be Silver Age costumes and it should be called Silver Age Champions. But I know this isn't the case.

People bring up CoX all the time. I didn't even play it for long. But I can tell you right now, the writing in CoX put CO to shame. CO is embarassing in comparison. It's like CO is making fun of comics, and somewhere in playing this game- it forgot it was supposed to be about comics and superheroes. For God's sake- the final zone is 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and if you think a werewolf is a bigger threat than a robot created by the most diabolical genius on the planet, you've been drinking things from under the sink and you obviously don't know anything about comics. Attune your inspirations, please.

Recently, things have drastically improved. But let that be a standard. Comical pop-culture jokes do not a story make.

Look at CoX. Learn that it was more successful than CO for a reason, and try to emulate that in your own style.

Cyber: I sort of agree, but for me the problem is I get a LEGO box and people either see it while I carry it to my car or I set up a card table at the mall and try to kibbitz with other LEGO tinkerers.

IE: the game desperately needs Foundry (or the like) so there's something to actually _do_ with all those costume options.

Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?

    Just a Thought:
Funcom recently (a few months ago, I think) did some Downsizing from their Secret World Franchise. These people are simply the best MMO writers in the Business. I'm talking Mass Effect I, Baulders Gate II, Planscape Torment caliber of writers here. And there may still be a few of them out there in MMO Land in need of a paycheck.

'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

So Very Much This!!! Other than the lack of any real new content (and no events and alerts are not content) it is the utter cheese and campy, 1960s holy peanutbutter jelly samwich batman story lines and villians, that really hurt this game.

Whenever I hear someone on more-adult sites like 4chan talk about how pre-op trans-women are "dudes with boobs" and that "anyone who likes them is gay", I point to Buck and ask "So... since you're straight and apparently only care about the crotch... do you find this attractive?" They then tend to stop the homophobic remarks pretty damn quick.

Desiring someone of a specific gender that appears to be of that very same gender isn't homophobic, it's pretty normal.

I had this discussion with someone recently. Apparently, I'm a 'douchebag' for refusing to date a 'changed' person. Amazing how in a society that bellows and mewls about respecting lifestyles, they can't respect mine.

But that's all I'm going to say about that.

My new question is, why do people keep asking questions when radiosilence said he was done answering questions? :D

Because they finally have some hope that sometime soon we may actually get questions answered .. maybe not in this thread, but maybe a list of the most asked questions in this thread can be answered and posted in the forum .....

and because of that hope I have a few questions about the game myself ...

    1) Could you please sell a way for Silver player to have more credits that 250 G ...

    2) Can you add the "Switch Character" option to the menu instead of having to log in and out each time ...

(I would just like to point out that both of these are already implemented in STO so they shouldn't be too much trouble to do.)

Like others out there I have more questions, but won't list them all here because I'm a little afraid that too many questions may scare the answer man away ..... :)

Actually just 1 more question: Can we please have a place or way to have an Q/A session with the Dev team?

I know this may be a hassle, but sometime the best thing a company can do is keep the customers happy .... and right now I know there are some very UN-happy customers here so I think this would be a good thing! We all would just like some information about the game we love to play!

    Thanks!

    Sooo... welcome!
Secondly, am a former 8+ year veteran of CoX who has absolutely fallen in love with CO..er, well and what it could be.

Could you comment please on the possibility of bringing the Foundry to CO? Put my soul at peace and either invigorate me with unrestrained joy at saying yes, or pass the pass the morphine so I can numb my soul and any future expectations it may have about this game.

Will there ever be a new comic series or adventure pack? They seem to be fun to do, well acted/written..but if I do whiteout/resistance, etc one more time I shall leap into the sun..well, what appears to be the sun from my bedroom..but anyway..welcome and PLEASE answer the questions above..PLEASE??!!

p.s. Does the fact that (3) other SuperHero MMOs are working their way towards alpha within the next year or so spur Cryptic on to want to "complete" the potential of this game or like with CoX's termination, willing to let another great opportunity pass you by?
    Hi, everyone.

I'm the Design Lead for Champions Online. I work at Cryptic North. I know some of you have been feeling a bit neglected lately, and we really don't want that, so I'll be on the forums to answer a few questions here and there.

Here are a few quick answers to questions you may have had about Cryptic North.

    1. Cryptic North really exists.
    2. Cryptic North is not an independent studio or company. We're super cool Cryptic people working out of Seattle.
    3. Cryptic North is not in Canada.
