The thing with hair that long though is you pretty much have to apply some sort of physics to it, like with capes. Because something that long doesn't stay completely rigid. Actually hair of any length doesn't stay completely rigid like the ingame models do, but it's far less jarring with shorter models. Something this long would have to be animated, which is one more thing to process and make those on slower computers run even worse.
