... or rather it should be titled "my pics". At this point this thread doesn't contain only my CO characters.

Those are drawings of my toons done by me in my spare time. They do not follow shapes of CO costumes exactly (especially Svietlana's one) mostly because of their stylisation.

duskwing_v1_by_satapatis-d5hwtyl.jpg

This one was made "for thel lulz". Idea was to make her looking like a part of the cast of nonexistent cartoon series while keeping at least basic resemblance to CO costume parts.

Your whole dA's great, but this one, is particularly awesome.

I can see how Duskwing and Deathlark were fun projects.

But you really nailed the design with Svietlana. I hope to see more.

Sketches are done in pencil. Most of the time - Irbis, Haywire and Vermilion sketches were done straight on the tablet.
For actual colors and backgrounds any graphic editor will do, as long as it can work on layers. Most obvious paid choice is Photoshop, free alternatives are PaintNET or GIMP.
I'm not using too many tricks, simple textures and overlays are enough.

    The rest is patience...

Wacom are pretty much standard. You can find cheaper alternatives, though most of them have battery fitted in stylus, so pen feels a bit heavy. It makes the difference with longer drawing sessions.

Most tablets are very durable. After all, those devices aren't very complicated. What matters is how durable is pen and cable. For artistic drawing you need a tablet with no less than 1024 pressure levels. Anything with less precision is used mostly for technical drawing.

I think the cheapest reasonable choice are Wacom Bamboo tablets.

I shall call her Miss Generica, because she has no story, bio, not even real superpowers. Heck, it's not even an actual CO character. Just play with Kirby dots.

These are really great! Your body proportions are spot-on. I also like your design elements.

That last one is a funny coincidence. I did a picture a few weeks ago of a girl in a very similar pose, also wielding Kirby dots (though not as many!) and I'd drawn it just to try to come up with a costume. :P

The only thing I'm pondering before picking colors for this piece, is if to keep her generic or make her more CU friendly and make her Malvan.

    2v19mjp.jpg

Malvan version makes more sense CU wise. On the other hand, I strongly dislike Malvans as a concept. An omnipotent race of indolent sybarites doesn't speak strongly to me.

They should be wiped or conquered by some CU equivalent of Kree.

I think both look great, but maybe the Malvan one would make for better coloring opportunities. (They have weird skin colors, right?)

From what I've gathered, Malvans are generally orange. Plus side is that it allows for more exotic hair colors and such. Disadvantage is that you'll probably end up looking like Starfire.

I'd go human. Just because space-based energy humans aren't quite as common as space-based energy alien things. But maybe that's just me, it's your call.

    And finally a colored piece.

Or rather first of two. I couldn't decide if I want it colored in a classic, or a modern style. So I'm doing two coloring versions, and this is the first one, classic stylised.

Here is version without color halftones:

    Link

Making it finally with halftones was something made for the sake of stylisation. Colors are the same, nothing changed, but clean version is far too colorful and vibrant for this older comic book feel. Where colors were never vibrant because of quality of paper and technique used for prints, even when those books were new.

Actually my photoshop technique isn't very complicated. I'm using solid colors and ink pen. The same things could be made with inks on paper.

Where digital drawing is more helpful is a sketch phase, as i'm using a lot of scribbling before finally establishing forms and keeping every phase on separate layer makes it less time consuming than erasing pen lines and switching pencils. But technique is still the same, I'm too used to pen and paper to change it.

Yeah, I do all my work with mechanical pencil then ink. Then typically I will then use Prisma color markers, then scan.

Great work on the newer pic you just posted.

No, sadly not. Not enough time for full blown comic, as those tends to be extremely time consuming. Just playing with comic book stylisation.

And this is how it everything starts - from preliminary sketches. At this early stage anatomy and proportions are hardly my main concern. They can be ironed in real sketchwork. But this is when I decide about poses and how body is weighted.

Yet again not a my toon, but an archery character recently commissioned.

I'm pretty sure that her CO costume parts are easily recognisable on this piece.
Also, bows are tricky to draw in perspective. Much more than guns.

A $14.99 Deluxe class Deathlark toy, featuring fighter jet alternative mode, as well as arms transformable to blades or guns with sound effects and LED lights. Also available in more affordable $5.99 Scout class toy, without transformable arms and electronic effects.

PlayPro has just announced their plans for new HeroLine merchandise. By the end of this and beginning of the next year PlayPro will release a new line of toys based on real life heroes.

"We are excited to see this happening. We?ve been able to talk with some of both the most iconic names and rising stars of the superhero world, and bring them to life in a whole new way for kids and fans.
We are hoping that it will not only bring joy, but also will set a heroic example for new generations."

"Our first wave is claimed by both famous heroes and by rising stars. Our last release expected for this year is UNTIL playset. But there is more! Even as we are talking, our legal department is talking with other cadidates."

"Of course we are doing it because, you know, we are toymaking company! But the whole thing is also aimed at helping people. A sizeable amound of revenue from HeroLine will be passed to charity organisations. We are working closely with our heroes in this matter, carefully listening to their suggestions."
