Updated Jan 28, 2013 - Mahogany . I was not at all happy with her costume. This one is more.... urban....and I don't see this character being a "tights" type of character. I have attempted to use similar designs elements in the coat & pants to give the appearance of a "costume".
Author's Note: I don't really have this idea fully developed yet to give you a description of powers or personality, but I do have this idea floating around in my head. Imagine a hero, who didn't exist. She was the figment of someone's imagination. My idea was that a young girl who had the ability to bring to "life" her imagination, but only during a sleep state. Imagine this girl was hurt and placed into a medically induced coma (so the hero could be active during the day). Her last thought being that if there was a "superhero" around, that hero could have saved her from harm. Thus her mind creates the most visually beautiful female hero that she could imagine. When I imagine her powers, I feel she would have flight and Intangibility.
The costume itself looks pretty good, classic but not mundane. But the concept is one of the coolest ideas for a character I've heard in a long time.
Code Name: Magma Chamber Real Name: Devon Hill Status: Villain Powers: Magma Chamber is able to create Magma rock which he uses for ranged combat and Armour. He is resistant to heat attacks Description: Devon Hill was a steel factory worker trying hard to make ends met until the day of the "accident". Unable to keep on top of his family's bills, Hill borrowed money from one of his co-workers and known Loan Shark. When Hill was unable to pay the Loan Shark and his crew broke Hill's Leg. Unable to work, Hill was unable to make money to pay the Loan Shark back. Since the amount owed to the Loan Shark was never going to be repaid, the Loan Shark decided to kill Hill and make an example of him. Hill was shot, and his body was dumped into a vat of molten steel. However, Devon Hill was an enlightened, a type of mutant whose's powers activate on death. Hill died before his body hit the molten steel. Hill crawled out from the vat with the discovery of his new abilities. In his anger, Hill killed the Loan Shark and his crew. Soon he discovered that even with these powers, it could not save his home from foreclosure or his marrage. With nothing left, Devon Hill became Magma Chamber and entered a life of crime.

Dinah said earlier - s/he didn't like the first version of the costume, so s/he changed it.
And I freaking LOVE the backstory.

Interesting take on the idea. I didn't envision that the child would imagine herself as an adult version, instead I would think she would have created her own "vision" of a perfect hero. What she created would be her ideal of the perfect face, perfect body, and perfect personality. If the subject was a little boy, I would have expected their "Avatar" to be a campy "Captain Awesome" character. Since the subject is a little girl, I expect her avatar to be slightly more "mature and realistic", but appearance and personality would still be "girlish" with elements to the costume that you would attribute to a "Princess". (Example: puffy shoulders and bows).
However, I would not argue that perhaps there are elements in the avatar's creation, deep in the imagination of the subject, that would use herself as a model for the hero. She most likely WOULD think "If I had the power to save......"

The Gun Devil is usually found under the employment of anyone who can pay his high fees for his sniper skills. Although he is deadly from a distance, he is equally dangerous in close quarter combat. Author's Note: I am quite fond of the mask that can not be seen in the picture so here is a close up. The "horns" are in the mask.

If I were a little boy (and I was at once waaaay back in the '60s), I'd conjure up something more along the lines of Captain Underpants (my nephews fav). But I was never your typical little boy.
Code Name: Heavy Duty Real Name: N/A Status: Hero Powers: Mechanically Enhanced Strength and Armoured exterior. Variety of modified Contruction tools. Description: Heavy Duty is not one, but several people who operate under the name Heavy Duty. Donald Henderson was forman of a tightly knit construction crew. When his daughter was kidnapped and murdered, it was his workmates he turned towards for support. Together they modified a "Con-Mech", a robot suit of armor created to assist in construction, and set out to find the evidence they needed to put this man behind bars. They were successful in their endevours, and decided to continue to fight crime in their modified Con-Mech. Now the group takes turns using the suit as the Hero "Heavy Duty".
Author's Note: I thought this would make a neat story. A group of people who share being a hero, and they would all have different personalities. The play off each character would make great story writing.
Code Name: Cast-Iron Real Name: N/A Status: Hero Powers: Able to transform all or part of his body into organic metal.
Author's Note: Many of my creation admittedly are mixtures of some of the other mainstream heroes. Cast-Iron would be a cross between Colossus and Shang-Chi.

Cast-Iron would be a phenomenal pun if someone took this design and used it for a Grimoire. I would laugh all the harder if he could be a Devastator who welds a giant, black skillet. No. No. Forget that. That border's on Slapperfish silly. I'm silly, but not Slapper silly.
Code Name: The Romancer Real Name: Theo Bean Status: Hero Powers: Magic boutonniere transforms the wearer in too "the perfect man". Wearer is immediatley filled with confidence and unlimited skills. Description: Accountant Theo Bean finds a magic flower during a conference that transforms his weak body to the Romancer
Code Name: Hellcaster Real Name: Rowin Booth Status: Hero Powers: Undetermined Magical Abilities. Ability to create portals to a demon dimension. Description: As a child, Rowin Booth discovered the ability to create an opening to a demonic dimension. Spared from being devoured by the demon overlord, Booth became the despot's personal slave. Studying the overlord's magic, Booth learned the ways of the demon dimension including the law that allowed Booth to kill the overlord and take the demonic throne for himself. Now as ruler of the Dark Dimension, Booth returned to our dimension to fight crime under the name "Hellcaster".
Code Name: Bush Beast Real Name: Lachlan Moore Status: Villain Powers: Heightened Senses & Strength. Claws. Description: Lachlan Moore's powers developed after he was mauled to death by an animal. As an accomplished hunter, Moore joined an illegal hunting party in the Austrialian outback. However, Moore was separated from his group when he fell of a cliff. Injured and unable to rejoin his party, Moore was eventually killed by hungry animals. Upon death, Moore's body regenerated and he retuned to life as an Enlightened, a type of mutant whose power activate upon death. With his new found abilities, Moore decided that his powers would help him make money and he turned to a life of crime.
Code Name: Shen Yun Real Name: Shi En Li Status: Hero Powers: Shen Yun translates to the "Divine Dance", it is a Magical Martial Arts ability, that is most effective against multiple opponents and lengthy hand to hand combat. The Devine Dance is a rhythmic fighting technique that employs fast dance-like movements. Shen Yun is also expert in various hand-weapons including swords, staves, kali sticks, nunchaku, and shuriken. Description: Shi En Li is the daughter of Gongsun Da Niang, otherwise know as the hero, Madame Gongsun. Gongsun is a mystical Chinese sword dancer who used her powers to fight the demons of the Diyu dimension, who under the orders of the Demonic Overlord, Yan Lou. Shen En Li was unaware of her mother's existence living with her estranged father in the United States until the day Madame Gongsun chased a group of demons overseas. Being within a certain proximity of her mother, while her mother used her mystical fighting abilities activated Shi En's own abilities.
Code Name: Electronique Real Name: N/A Status: Hero Author's Note: I don't really have anything worked out for Electronique. In City of Heroes I played this character as an Electric Tanker. I had an outline of an origin of a construct made by a Mad Scientist that was forgotten, but discovered years later. I wanted her to be a "Bio-Bot", a "robot" with organic material. Basically, she would grow like a child.... except she was a robot. The idea was never fleshed out.
Code Name: Boneclaw Real Name: Unknown Status: Villain Powers: Boneclaw has long, slender, knife-sharp skeletal humanoid clawlike fingers. Boneclaw's have extended lifespans. Description: The last of his kind, Boneclaw is monster who preys on any human who is unfortunate enough to cross his path. Living in seclusion in woods of Minnesota and in the north central regions of Canada, Boneclaw excels at stealth and is a near-perfect hunter, knowing and using every inch of its territory ? caves, hills, trees and bushes. Despite his reclusiveness, Boneclaw is a highly intelligent creature and has been known to enter human rural areas, and work with other superpowered creatures. Boneclaw is not a savage, and has been known to utilize modern equipment such as a modern costume.
Code Name: Gloryhammer Real Name: Unknown Status: Hero Powers: Magic Hammer. Ability to use devine magic. Author's Note: As we get deeper into this project I will have less stories fleshout and more of "concepts". Gloryhammer is modern day cleric who weilds devine magic in a quest to destroy evil.
Code Name: The American Way Real Name: Unknown Status: Villain. Powers: Flight, super strength and super resistances. Author's Note: I understand that this post may not make me the most popular, and I swear this isn't "America Bashing", but think for a second: What is the worst think a villain can do? What if a villain went around committing crimes all while under the guise of a flag? As patriotic as the United States are, it is silly to think all American themed powered individuals would be "good guys". So the concept of the "American Way" was born. This villain would be highly patriotic, to the point where he wanted everyone and everything, to be done the "American Way".
Once again, please keep an open mind to the concept.

In essence, a super-bigot. Not all that different from the second Captain America (a product of a flawed attempt at recreating the Super-Soldier Serum, he went insane and started seeing Commies everywhere, eventually being put down by a revived original-recipe Cap), or the initial appearance of USAgent.
I don't see an issue here.
(And while I won't use the basic concept, I might steal some of those design elements in the future...)
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
kinda reminds me of a Capt. America story line where the Cap from the 50s (who wasn't Steve Rogers) was this sort of super patriot that took his beliefs to a nasty extreme.
I'd also love to see all kinds of patriots pop up in this thread before December 31 rolls around. There must be hundreds of heroes and villains from around the globe. I bet that there's enough to fill two UNs with good guys and bad guys.
Code Name: Tomahawk Real Name: Unknown Status: Villain Powers: Super strength and super resistances. Author's Note: I just noticed how many of my concepts are "tanks", I need to be more inventive.
Code Name: Wildflower Real Name: Ilsa Ducharme Status: Villain Powers: Wildflower is a human/plant hybrid with and super resistances and healing abilities. Wildflower uses posion dipped retractible thorns that stick out from her forearm.
Author's Note: I wanted a Wolverine type character, to make it different I choose a female, and I followed it up with "plant" instead of "animal" themed.
Code Name: Armorstar Real Name: Unknown Status: Villain Powers: Comic Energy Sheilding. Flight & Super Strength. Author's Note: I remember saying to a friend in City of Heroes "I want to make a character who has is like a space themed Tank. Boy, I wish I could use the name Battlestar because it would be perfect. Help me think of a name with "Armor" and "Star" names in it" He replied "how about "Armorstar". I felt so dumb.
Code Name: Valkyrie Armour Real Name: Myrella Van Djik Status: Hero Powers: Magical Armour Author's Note: When most people think of the Norse Mythology, they think of Greenland. However, there is evidence of Vikings settling in Canada! I thought it would be neat if some of those settler's left behind a magic item. When the magic item is dug up here in Canada it grants the wearer the magical Armour of a Valkyrie.
Code Name: Justine Sane Real Name: Unknown Status: Villian Powers: Invulnerability Author's Note: Imagine a manic depressive with serious suicidal tendencies. She has tried to kill herself many times.... but she just wouldn't die. It would be enough to puch this insane person over the edge!

"Isstvan! Why aren't you dead?"
"Oh. I'm under a curse - I can't die."
"Then why were you so afraid of the fire?"
"Fire is quite painful - and after several centuries of failed suicide attempts, I've had all the pain I can stand, thank you. Besides, Mother always said, 'No smoking in the house!'"

Code Name: Charisma Real Name: Deborah King Status: Hero Powers: Power and ability amplification Description: During one of Dinah Might's adventures, she traveled into a possible future and met her duaghter. Deborah King has a unique power that was hard to explain. It seems everyone (villains and heroes) were just "better" around her. They were stronger, faster, smarter, their powers worked better, they just were better then the were before being around her.

As such I have updated it to something more like the former COH Costume. I'm not going to provide a link since the post is only a couple of posts up.
PLUS someone quoted the original costume so you can still see it... but don't look at it, 'cause I hate it.

I love this idea as well! Wish I'd thought of it!
Sorta reminds me of characters like the original Capt Marvel, or Prime; kids with super heroic personalities.
Well done.

Author's Note: I don't really have anything worked out for Electronique.

Real Name: Unknown
Status: Villain.
[SIGPIC]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/c251/Dinah_might/Avatars/MEGAFORCEBanner-1.jpg[/SIGPIC]
I don't see an issue here.
(And while I won't use the basic concept, I might steal some of those design elements in the future...)

kinda reminds me of a Capt. America story line where the Cap from the 50s (who wasn't Steve Rogers) was this sort of super patriot that took his beliefs to a nasty extreme.
The real Cap fixed his lil red wagon though
You're a lunatic with a mad man's dream of a milk proof robot!

I see nothing wrong with making a villain way Blue, White, and Red.
I'd also love to see all kinds of patriots pop up in this thread before December 31 rolls around. There must be hundreds of heroes and villains from around the globe. I bet that there's enough to fill two UNs with good guys and bad guys.
Go for it dinahmightcoh.
That said, great work on this build challenge. You've got quite a diverse range of concepts and designs here.

Maybe some of the costume elements, but boy it up some...
"Oh. I'm under a curse - I can't die."
"Then why were you so afraid of the fire?"
"Fire is quite painful - and after several centuries of failed suicide attempts, I've had all the pain I can stand, thank you. Besides, Mother always said, 'No smoking in the house!'"

Status: Hero
Powers: Power and ability amplification
Description: During one of Dinah Might's adventures, she traveled into a possible future and met her duaghter. Deborah King has a unique power that was hard to explain. It seems everyone (villains and heroes) were just "better" around her. They were stronger, faster, smarter, their powers worked better, they just were better then the were before being around her.
