I have noticed that I don't see many heroes sporting capes in this game. I, myself, have created a few costumes with capes but have yet to use them as heroes. Some are posted at the - Champions Costume Exchange but not all.

If you have a Caped Wonder, please post him/her below. I'll post the few I made below, shortly.

btw - If you guys want to post videos if caped heroes in action, I won't object. :)

Actually, a good number of my characters wear a cape of some kind. Sinclair, Penelope Chimera, Archivist, Pelleas, Samael, Guinevere, Sunspot, Red Zephyr, Abraham Makarov, Heartbreaker, Kor, and Glarth all so far have capes.

I usually prefer capeless heroes, since the animation can be bad for my frame rate.

But still, I have caped costumes on some of them.

Although most of my characters don't wear capes (some have a retro version that do), this one's main costume has a cape.

To cape or not is an independent design choice based on each concept for me.

For example, it just doesn't make sense on some heroes, like RoboKong:
    Kongbot_41.jpg

Same with Meltdown (pestilence build). Cape doesn't fit the concept:
    meltdown_sc.jpg

Quorok, on the other hand, didn't look right without a cape:
    qurok.jpg

Same with this clone of Marvin the Martian -- he looked nekkid without a cape:
    marvin_gun.jpg

BTW: Penitent is really cool - great job!

Generally no, I am not happy with the cape options in the CO costume creator, nor with the way they can flow through the character at times.

Oh, Edna, all those years in the business and you never heard of a snap release? For shame.

Lessee...capes. Some. Depends on what kind of archetypes I'm homaging/mixing. Looks like only two out of the ten I have so far, maybe two and a half.

And this one's the "half". It's sort of a cape, but mostly wings.

Yeah, even I've removed some for that reason, but my PC is $)@%. I often wonder if that is the reason that I see so few capes on a day-to-day basis. I sometimes go weeks before a caped hero passes in front of my hero in the RenCen or wherever. That and every update or new Arch pushed a costume of the month. When I first joined I saw more demons, robots and monsters than human looking heroes. Now ships are every where.

Either way, I know that capes are rare, whatever the reason, so I made this thread to see a few.

DinahMightcoh is making A Character a Day and since Jan 1 to yesterday, she created 5 with a cape and one got switched for a no cape version, so it's four now.

I have few tights wearing hearoes but only one is wearing a cape. The rest is costumed mostly in the Jim Lee's X-Men style and doesn't look good with capes. At least not on their main costumes.

On the other hand i've never really made a generic sorta hero toon...

If they were the same id not be lusting after a proper "shadowy cloak" costume pack.

Clipping be darned, I want something that covers the shoulders and drapes in the front a bit. It could of fit in so well with the whole Nighthawk costume stuff.

I tried something similar with a heroine called Sea Elf. Sea Elf is nice but it's the same blue skin against bubble pink hair and costume. The hints of yellow are supposed to be gold, but my pc shows it - well, as yellow.

Great idea for a thread zed. I'll start by posting images of Goldwing who uses a cape with most of his looks(I'll post my other cape-wearers when I get the time).

The reason he uses a cape is to give the impression of wings.

First off, here is his Golden-Age outfit.

Cool costumes. Is Goldwing one of those heroes that recurs over the years, with someone new in the costume each generation, like Black Mask? 'Cause if so, you've still got your Old West Goldwing costume to build...

I swear...I was so sleepy after reading this that I read "Adam West Goldwing costume" lol... that was an amusing thought in my head.

By the way I must say that I ABSOLUTELY adore Goldwing, in every single of his costumes they are simply terrific!! specially the one where you used the nighthawk costume and made it metallic. All color schemes are great!.

To tell the truth I've never felt comfortable with capes, except the torn cape, most likely because it adds a certain feeling on a character, for the most part: 'Having been through alot'.

So, I got round to taking some new shots of Britannia, patron goddess and protector of The United Kingdom. She's kind of a cross between Wonder Woman, Thor and, of course, Captain Britain.

The reason she wears a cape is that it adds a certain sense of majesty.

    Classic Britannia.

I think Lion Britannia is my favorite, although the sandals seem like they'd be kind of cold for the British climate. However, she is an excellent argument for capes patterned after national flags - she really needs to have the so-recognizable Union Jack fluttering at her back...

As I promised, here are my caped heroes, with description:

    Ger-Man
    Silver Age costume
    8508779553_0f1115f3b1.jpg

    Renaisance Age* costume
    8509888158_493fa817f7_b.jpg

    Steel Age** costume
    8509508431_d4b256ed9b_b.jpg

Ger-Man is your basic national superhero. But since Germany in the Champions Universe doesn't support superheroics much, he is defending and representing his country from outside its boarders.
I originally invisioned him weilding a spear (the Ger is a type of spear from ancient times, which the Germans were named after). But since we don't have a Polearms powerset, he's using a Heavy Weapons build.

    More chars later.

    * The Renaisance Age is what I call the first half of the Modern Age, when superhero comics went back to the roots after the Iron/Dark Age.
** The Steel Age is the second half of the Modern Age to me, because it's pretty much the Iron Age all over again, only more refined and polished. Also, armor plates are the new pouches. :p

I am not that familiar with Mystique except from the movies, so I had to search Mystique under Google Images and found a few of her in a white costume among the many of Rebecca Romijn who basically played her naked except for some vinyl paint. She also wears a black two piece thing in some other pics. Some Heroes and villians go through so many costume iterations it's really hard to keep track of them all. Is the white one her original costume or are there too many to say? I'm seriously asking becasue I do not know.

I can almost see the point of the white Mystique costume, but yours is much more complex and lacks a belt made out of skulls. Plus, Terah's eyes are an illuminate blue, not the yellow, serpent eyed of the version of Mystique.

Begin a side rant - Someone once accuse The Webspeller of being a Spider-Girl clone. I have not picked up a comic book since '93 and the costume was created by blending a '60s Barbara Gorden/Batgirl (my wifes fav because they share the same profession, librarian), and a What If Mary Jane became Spider-Woman, to be plugged into a Grimoire Arch and bio. I honestly had no idea there even WAS a Spider-Girl series. I knew of both Spider-Women and neither had worn a red-blue costume. So I did then, what I just did on Mystique -- a Google Image search.

@#$ and hips. Same classic costume spandex fitted for May's female form, as it were. There are many added and missing differences, and no version of Marvel's Spider-Anything wears a cape. Pardon my rant, it's over.

Anyway, to reiterate, I like your costume over the Mystique version even if there are similarities.

btw - I meant to reply to this sooner but forgot.

I'm looking at this and now I am thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if there was an Energy Construct Cape to go with the rest of the Energy Constructs on your hero?"

I seem to recall Southwest Witchcraft as being entirely transparent and yellow before On Alert. Or was it before Free For All? { shrug } Anyway, I know that tech is out there, but there might be other reasons why we don't see such parts in game.
