Safety-Man! The possessed crash test dummy.
Your pic just made me realized how much Sonny from I, Robot, looks like a crash-test dummy. Except for the eyes, of course. They had to make the eyes very human-like so that he could wink at Spooner. Like this -
By the way, leihngwei, how do you generate a screenshot like you have in post #51? How can I do the same, have a pose of my hero and his or her biography next to them.
I usually do, unless the character has wings or it is a Lemuria costume. I like traditional super hero costumes and without a cape looks just like some freak in a particularly colourful SM body stocking.
Capes add something knightly to a character. A reminiscent of ancient warriors and suggest a certain code of honour and also suggest a certain martial attitude. Additionally the character is much more dressed this way. A skin tight suit alone might look oversexualized, and while the cape doesn't cover anything at all as seen from the front, it changes the silhouette greatly.
It gets a little tricky with Velvetpaw, my feline character, since she has cat tails attached to most costumes. She use short or swallow-tail capes or in one instance a long scarf.

Aqua Man, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyclops, Wolverine, The Beast, Hawkeye, Iron Man, The Hulk, The Punisher, Spider-Man, The Wonder Twins, Puck, Sasquatch, Shaman, Vindicator, Gambit, Pyro, Iceman, Rogue, Toad, The Blob, Cable, Bishop, Grunge, Freefall, Rainmaker, Fairchild, Venom, Vulture, Electro, Daredevil, Elektra, Carnage, Juggernaut, Witchblade, Darkness, Jubilee...
The cape is only part of the "traditional" superhero costume if you consider anything other than Batman and Superman non-traditional.
Yes, I realize some - especially the Image characters - are 90s characters, and not really "traditional", but most of the others are older than me, some by decades.

Well, most of the heroes you list do look like particularly colorful freaks in SM body stockings as far as I am concerned. What can I say, I prefer DC over Marvel. Most you list between Spiderman and Electro I've never heard of. And I don't think there is anything I'd call traditional about Witchblade or Darkness (the latter of which is rather a super villain than a hero). My current favourite male and female comic heroes from actual comic books are Nightwing and Batgirl, respectively, from The New 52. And yes, I do realize that Nightwing doesn't use a cape either - he needs something to distinguish from Batman after all.

Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern are at least well known DC Characters
Aquaman .. ok .. better don't let us discuss about him
Plane? There's a-? Oh, yeah, there is a plane in that pic, isn't there...
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
From the few heroes i haven't deleted so far, i got one with a cape
I gave him a cape since he's more of a thinker than a fighter and prefers to sneak through and snipe criminals down before they notice him -that was the idea before playing him and finding out that archery actually relies on stealth for survival-
I chose the brooch cape to give it some touches of color to the overall design, and also gives the impression to be easily detachable; and the outside design of the cloak was because a plain looking one looked uninteresting, and the gray tones on it to keep it on the stealth theme
Haven't done much in CO's costume creator yet, but most of my old CoH characters were capeless.
Just practicality. I mostly played melee characters, and getting tangled up in your own cape when you go to do a spinning move of some kind is just embarrassing.
Only one of my melee characters had a cape, and his style didn't involve a lot of things that a cape would be detrimental to.
That said, a cape is merely an esthetic choice. Some people take it seriously, some only care if it suits a given concept. Every argument, even mine above, is moot.
I have notice that with 26 Archs, 10 Default costumes use capes. I'm pretty sure that is a higher ratio than one would find among DCs or Marvels legions of costumed good guys.
From a more serious view, especially here in CO, i simply don't like the way that capes hang down on your left or right side beneath your body when flying
To be honest non of my characters wears a permanent Cape (except of Mini Capes and cape on their Special Costumes)
Not really fun of capes to be Honest and the whole Classic Super Hero with Tight and Capes thing
but yet again non of my characters is a Super Hero to begin with!
To Summarize the DANGERS of Capes:
NO CAPES!!
POWERFRAME REVAMPS, NEW POWERS and BUG FIXES > Recycled Content and Events and even costumes at this point Introvert guy who use CO to make his characters playable and get experimental with Viable FF Theme builds! Running out of Unique FF builds due to the lack of updates and synergies! Playing since 1 February 2011 128 + Characters (21 ATs, 107 FFs) ALTitis for Life!
And logical fallacy in all those "dangers" of capes is, that neither Incredibles nor this webcomic are played serious.
Most iconic capen wearers are either invulnerable to the point where none of those "dangers" can hurt them (all Kryptonians for example), or are using cape to their advantage (Batman's cape is very often fire and bulletproof).
Too bad Edna Mode never heard of breakaway clothing. My heroes with capes have breakaway clasps so if the cape gets caught, it pops off.

Several of my ranged characters had them though.

It's like people are taking gags out of context.
Capes are flat out intimidating to see. There's something regal about them that creates weight on the actions/words/etc of the wearer.
Unfortunately the capes of CO do not seem to have this weight.
Oh, I dunno. I thank that capes used right in CO add a bit of majesty.........

Cold Burn - it's a very simplified costume, but I think it works.
Whoa indeed simple but the selection of pieces and colors is mesmerizing!!!!

I disproportionately like this one. I think it's the fluidity of how the tights and armor works together.
Totally agree with Bluh on this one, it just a fantaaaaaaaaaaaastic costume design.

btw - I think Miss Moxie is great. Did you actually use Foxbats colors? Much better on her.
