Wow! Chat Banned Again! This Time For Not Saying Anything!

So this time I have been chat banned again, ( thank you thank you, no applause necessary! ).

But this time, I've been chat banned for simply not even chatting?

So the story goes like this, I log in, I talk in officer chat with my SG. 30 minutes later, I get the chat ban notice.

So I can understand if I'm mildy annoying ( I use that lightly ), in zone chat. But chat banned just for simply logging in? Nobody private messaged me btw, infact I was just sitting somewhere in downtown with nobody around.

System needs a review, or we need a live Game Master. :mad:

And yes Caliga, we need a live person to review this horrible and fully automated system. I saw you say ONE thing in zone chat this evening, and absolutely nothing worth chat banning anybody over. I've seen incredibly ignorant degenerates spout offensive nonsense in zone chat with out any repercussions.

Clearly you "had it coming". I have sat whole game sessions and leveled characters halfway to 40 and then some without ever uttering a single word in chat. I've even logged a couple of times a row for days without ever even letting anyone know I was there. Yet somehow I've gone completely unsilenced.

Crack a few offensive jokes and talk about religion and politics in zone next time if you don't want to get silenced for it.

sigh, I don't mind getting chat banned. But if you're gonna do it, atleast don't do it on Tuesday's and Wednesdays! :biggrin:

Again though, I'd really like it if we can get some kind of live staff representation within the game.

Including lifetime, I have spent well over 1000$ on this game ( that is not an exaggeration ).

I'd like some service for what I payed for.

In light of me being Chat banned again, but this time for no reason, Someone decided to give me a gift for my troubles. A Grav Bike widow. The letter explains it all, and also the lack of support for this system.

I do not deserve such a gift, and it will be returned with a letter as soon as I can back to the sender.

Are you F@#%@#$ kidding? I've gotten jack sh-- for all my troubles. And 0 helpful responses from PWE, and NO ONE at Cryptic even has acknowledge I've been chatbanned.

I'm happy for you Caliga, honestly. But that's some pretty unfair BS.

EDIT: Now I'm confused. Caliga, did you send that to yourself or were you given it?

Haha! But I recognized the @handle that sent me the bike. Turns out if I remember correctly, this is the same guy that helped me a long long LONG time ago. First it was tips, then when I hit 40, something happened and he gave me Cryptic Points back when you could buy the bundles and give the codes to your friend. And now a Grav Bike.

When my chat ban is over, I'm going to give him back the bike and repay him for all those other times.

Perhaps an organised posting of many topics on forum, and mass-ticket creation will make them fix it.

I know cryptic well enough...we need to cause an epidemic, you have to Force their hand, even if it means taking a ban...again, the cause is righteous. They never work unless they HAVE TO.

One of my friends was chat banned the other day. He was in a group and this guy was pulling all kimds of aggro and flipping out when he would die. The group kicked him and the dude got my friend chat banned.

"Management never authorize changes unless they HAVE TO."

Your original sentence could be inferred to mean that the Devs (what few devs remain on the team) are lazy which I don't believe is the case.

The problem is that there is nothing to prevent someone from deciding to get a bunch of friends to chatban someone they don't like, for any reason, at any time.

You don't have to say anything, they just have to think of doing it. So, maybe you were curt that one time a year ago and they hold a long grudge. Or they don't like your forum posts. Or you cut them off in traffic. Or you won loot. Or you said a joke badly.

And there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

So, since Caliga has a public presence, it's easy for any group of folks to decide 'F Caliga!' and grief the bejeebus out of him. Forever.

How long has what been going on? The chat ban function? A long time.

People have been complaining about it for years! Here as well as STO. Cryptic has basically said 'suck it.' Because the current system is very very EASY for them -- they don't have to pay any attention to it.

If you are new to the genius of the chat ban system, the other cool feature is that if you ever ignore someone, it adds to some counter toward them getting chat shut down for 24 hours, even if all you wanted was not to listen to them.
And a chat ban shuts down everything -- private messages to anyone, mailing anything, Supergroup/Fleet chat, the whole shebang! WEEE!

If you mean compositing pictures together to make funnier pics, that's been going on since the origins of photography.

I linked some items that i wanted to sell in the trade channel a week or so ago and when i tried to reply to somebody asking how much i would accept for one of the items i received a message saying that i had been chat banned for 24hrs.

No, sadly that is another seller of one of your rare items doing some nasty price fixing by silencing the competition, that is, you.

Send in a request for help. We need GMs to be aware of this issue.

This is starting to look like one of two things.

1. People actually wait for you to log on. Then group ban you.

2. There is something in the coding that is getting all of you chat banned constantly. Could be something involving fields like when you registered for the game or even what channels you talk in. That would require more effort and cross examination of information to see if there is a pattern.

Just remember to point out exactly how the system works in Nevermind Online, over zone chat.
That way they can start blocking other players straight away.
Since they actually have Devs playing during Beta, they'll hear... hmm maybe a new acct first

and I had to do it. I have created Captain Chat Ban, foxbat speaker chest, dj mad bot earphones, hammer bracers, insignia paldrons with unhappy smily face.

Social comment : Captain Chat ban says shush.

So does the Chat Ban system allow you to know who chat banned you? I'm guessing the answer is no. If it did the field would easily be leveled. Chit-for-Chat as it were.

Perhaps the system could be tweak. Say one where you can only be chat banned if three players send the ban signal.

This may sound like a d*ck move, but it could very well work. Cryptic can obviously ignore the rage about the chat ban system in CO and STo, but I don't think they can afford this to happen in Neverwinter, right after its launch.
