    /SIGNED!

This may sound like a d*ck move, but it could very well work. Cryptic can obviously ignore the rage about the chat ban system in CO and STo, but I don't think they can afford this to happen in Neverwinter, right after its launch.

The beauty in this is, you can't get in trouble for it since you're just explaining to people how a feature works. It'd be the same as if you were explaining how leveling works in zone chat. So long as Cryptic claims this is working as intended, and not an exploit in any way, then they will be powerless to stop you from causing this feature to be widely and immediately abused.

And even then technically, there is no way to abuse it. They can't actually punish people in any way for using the /ignore function because there's no way to prove that it was used "maliciously", since one of the main functions involves ignoring people who annoy you in some way...using it maliciously is practically one of the most frequent expected reasons to use it.

It's almost genius how perfectly they created this trap for themselves... like opening a mall where they give everyone a loaded gun at the door, and then wondering why everyone's getting shot.

Umm, I am pretty sure that giving everyone guns would lead to less shooting.

Yes, because everyone makes rational, sane decisions.

More accurately, there would be a dramatic rise in shootings followed by a very sharp fall-off...

Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?

Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?

Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?

Well, eventually, yes, after all the initial shooting tended to remove those too quick on the trigger...

He was actually quoting John Campbell at the time - Campbell wanted that angle in Beyond This Horizon. Heinlein merely recognized that an armed society was a free society; he recognized that "courtesy due to arms" was on the far side of a fair pile of bodies...

Not if those shootings are chat bans. People who aren't even at the mall are getting shot.
