CO Launcher not loading

It trys to connect, but fails. Once it made it to the biger box, then opened another explorer window saying it cant display the website, and to check my internet connection. Obviously, my connection is working.

    Unable to establish connection with Patch Server.

    Same here. I had logged out earlier in the morning because going thru doors to start a mission was causing the game to stick on the loading screen. After logging out the loader wouldnt access for Champions or Star Trek.

    Now its showing the IE screen (I dont use IE so its weird seeing it).

    Launcher isn't loading up.

    Any official word? I didn't see any.

    It fixed me right up.... Twice.

    Having the same problem since a few hours.
    I tried

    - resetting the router
    - replacing "Champions Online.exe" and "GameClient.exe" with the official and newest file
    - waiting
    - rebooting


    ...and much more. Nothing will work. I see that many people have the problem, but some got it to work with nr 2 ( replacing "Champions Online.exe" and "GameClient.exe" with the official and newest file ), although it won't work for me and many other people.

    Started a character on Saturday and got him to 33 - had some dim hope of getting him to 40 today. Darn it.

    This is a known issue in STO too, so assume it is Cryptic wide.

    Something's gone wrong with our launcher tech for a few of our games, though it isn't affecting everyone. I'll update when it's resolved.

    You might also be able to run the client directly and bypass the launcher. I'm not affected by the issue -- can someone who's affected try running Champs with the client, let me know if it works?

    I tried to run the client directly earlier, it didnt work I may try again though

    trying the running the client directly, so far it is just hanging on the black Cryptic loading screen,and then it crashed. Something about timing out on the patcher.

    Gameclient.exe needs a login ticket from the launcher or it will never connect to the login server.

    I have attempted direct access with the GameClient.exe as well.
    Having been met with a static "Cryptic" Logo Screen for an indefinite time, I can only assume the method won't work.

    When attempting to launch directly from the GameClient.EXE, it automatically assumes On-Demand Patching is enabled, regardless of what it is actually set to. - Which results in the same issue of being unable to connect to the Patch Server.

    As for a bit more information:

    I have run a TraceRoute command and discovered that the connection times out when attempting to connect/pass through atlas.cogentco.com, which I assume is a Cogent Communications Server Hub/Farm/etc.

    I'm not sure this came across the way you intended. Do you mean Witchcraft is going to remain up for a time after the issue is resolved? Kind of moot to many of us whether she's up while the issue is active....

    This just goes to show how much of a difference there is in number of players between STO and Champs. What do I mean? They hid the launcher bug thread in the PC/technical issues board over on the STO forums and it still has 200 pages. This thread is on the main board here and only has 5. No wonder this game barely gets any dev attention :frown:

    I too am having a launcher issues. New Jersey, US.
    I was getting ready to call out the CO team on their amateur work and un-professionalism. Then I saw TT was responding to this thread and giving us updates. My props to him.

    This just goes to show how much of a difference there is in number of players between STO and Champs. What do I mean? They hid the launcher bug thread in the PC/technical issues board over on the STO forums and it still has 200 pages. This thread is on the main board here and only has 5. No wonder this game barely gets any dev attention

    With no new permenet story content in 14 months and hardly any (just 5 aps/comic series) in 3 years is it any wonder population here is low?

    If STO had so little added and had been here this long it would be a ghost town.

    I was able to log into Pidgin no problems, I saw plenty online that have had no issues, then others only on Pidgin because launcher problems.

    Like twenty pages of people sending in ping results on STO. It's pretty well borked everywhere.
