This just goes to show how much of a difference there is in number of players between STO and Champs. What do I mean? They hid the launcher bug thread in the PC/technical issues board over on the STO forums and it still has 200 pages. This thread is on the main board here and only has 5. No wonder this game barely gets any dev attention :frown:

Or we just dont moan as much as STO players

I too am having a launcher issues. New Jersey, US.
I was getting ready to call out the CO team on their amateur work and un-professionalism. Then I saw TT was responding to this thread and giving us updates. My props to him.

With no new permenet story content in 14 months and hardly any (just 5 aps/comic series) in 3 years is it any wonder population here is low?

If STO had so little added and had been here this long it would be a ghost town.

I was able to log into Pidgin no problems, I saw plenty online that have had no issues, then others only on Pidgin because launcher problems.

Like twenty pages of people sending in ping results on STO. It's pretty well borked everywhere.

Thanks for the update TT. I just now managed to get in after several several resets of the launcher and several errors after the launcher loaded (pressing login would bring an error message)

Edit: Got past the launcher and login but hanging on "retrieving maps"...Annnnnnnnd it just kicked me out.

Edit: Upon another login I'm now in game.

And now not even getting that far.

I'm too disgusted to care enough to keep jabbing this sh*t tonight.

Don't you bloody dare think about not giving us at least one more day of double XP to compensate, not "she's there until this is resolved" but "she's there for use after its resolved and the people we're disappointing can benefit again" to clarify.

But the issue came up at 8:52... there was more or less 1 hour left before they took her out. Would be reasonable to just give 1 more hour of double XP but that's it.

interesting though i did notice a red message about the launcher failing to load and was being looked at ,but you can only read that message from a launcher that actually worked

i disconnected thinking the issue had been resolved only to find the launcher wont launch again and show me the message about the launcher not launching

but keep trying guys ,you will get there eventually

Seems to be back here now started about a half hour ago that it works. Patching to recent version so I'll be able to give a shout if it works. I think it depends on the areas. For most of us its been literally an all day thing. It has been down for what I can tell eight hours and at that time there still would have been three or so for the double xp.

And working fine here. I like the touch of keeping witchcraft up. Now when you do decide to take her away, give an admin announcement like you do for server changes so we know. That way no one can complain on missing the buff. Thanks for the work on this end.

The launcher is finally activating at all, but it's going super-super-slow. I put in my password a few minutes ago. Still waiting for it to get past "Loading launcher"

The launcher is not fully loading for me, most of it is there but the patch progress bar is missing and the patch/play button is greyed out.

The launcher autoupdater seems to be unable to connect.

Right. Same errors as most of the more recent posters.

After inputting the password, it's basically stuck on Loading Launcher, then Updating Launcher, and when i AM in, chat gives out every few seconds... followed by a grace period of workable.. only to mess up again.

Went away for a few hours and I'm back to the same old problems again. I try to launch the launcher and get stuck in patching. Patch button is grey and I've got a Version number (FC.31.20130110.9). No progress from there, however.

Hmm. STO players were reporting the same issue, but we thought that was resolved. Anyone who's experiencing slowness, can you run a traceroute?

    tracert
For Windows, hit the start button
Where it says Search All Files and Programs, type CMD and press ENTER
The first result should be cmd.exe
Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
A black, command-prompt window should appear
From here type the following command:
    tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
    Good Results:
Values lower than 180 are ideal for playing MMOs (and anything under 100 is outstanding). Higher values usually cause lag and rubber-banding in-game. Report any values above 180ms. Right-click in the Command Prompt Window and select all. Save as a text file (txt).

    Well isn't that nice...

FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN LOGON! jk

I'm able to logon on now. And thanks for extending the 2XP weekend.

Oh, and if it helps you track down any other problems still lingering, I'm in NJ. If any other East Coasters still having problems, at least there are none here.

Was online for a while, but lost connection. Similar results to earlier:

Sometimes stuck on the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate, often timing out.

When making it to the Launcher - the Launcher Window is heavily distorted, as shown in the images below:

    Jldy1Xrs.jpg
    WrAPRfas.jpg

Upon making it into the game, itself, I often become stuck at "Retrieving List of Characters".

Upon making it past character selection, Chat is Offline and I am often quickly disconnected again.

    Now, for Trace Routes.

First, patchserver.crypticstudios.com , skipping over the local bits.
