The thread (and the OP's continued existence in this game, it seems) is designed to irritate, annoy, and cause incendiary reactions. So by insulting the thread starter, I think that is actually getting trolled, not trolling.
If the intention of your post was made with the primary purpose to provoke someone into giving a negative response, it's trolling. "Trolling the troll" doesn't negate the fact that it's still trolling. No need to spin it and apply such obtuse BS all over it.
I'm with Jaybezz with regards to the fact that if the devs promise to deliver something, which in this case is getting the telepathy changes to live (why would it be in the PTS otherwise?), then they should follow up with it ASAP.

They've openly declared the kind of fixes and power additions for Telepathy including Manipulator that I'd imagine would vastly improve the gameplay experience of anyone who's running a Telepathy CC-oriented build on the PTS. That was in September last year. I think it's past due that they bring it all over to live. I can understand that anyone who've been anticipating the changes and additions and waiting that long would be annoyed.

Holding people accountable. Champions Online is a business. Would you allow for your bank to make promises for future financial product to keep you complacent? Would it be ethical or even legal to promise a future product for the purpose of keeping your business?
So many people are focused on the fact that I quit the game (and apparently my reputation proceeds me in ANY thread I create in the genre of Telepathy Holds.. a badge I wear with honor) that they seem to somehow think that this behavior by a company is acceptable.
Well I am not one for "bailouts", and I believe in holding people responsible to their word.

I dont say this ONLY for all the telepathy players in game (or who have already quit.. of which there are MANY) but for the health of the game as a whole. The developers do not take you seriously because you do not treat them seriously.
Patch after patch there are more new (and returning) bugs than content (and fixes). They do something stupid and say "Oh well" because they can.

This is sort of my situation, telepathy changes were the ONLY reason I went from Silver to LTS in one massive jump, sure I spend time getting together builds for my other chars, but none were/are more important than my telepath Mentella.
Since Late August/September I have had a build based on new telepathy which I am drooling with excitement to play...almost half a year later (from August to soon Feb) I am still waiting for mah telepath to fight using powers other than [Psionic Accelerator] in combat.
I even went out of my way, gambled away for Legion Gears, and outfitted my telepath with the best gear I could get my hands on...and for what purpose now? To strut around Ren Cen without any powers cause they aren't there?
Yes things needed to be fixed BUT that could have been done whilst trying to crap out the vehicles...ugh..makes me so annoyed!

I agree with you. This decision must have come from the game's Executive Producer and its one that I fundamentally disagree with. Specifically because he was the one to announce them.
If we really aren't scheduled for power passes anymore, why in the blue hells would GC be allowed to do some development work on Telepathy regardless? Why is a dev other than GC, that being NisDiddums, releasing patch notes on his behalf when it's his "pet project"? Why is he even allowed development resources to be used for pet projects?

If the information is in the PTS notes and it is represented as something that will be transfered over to live, that's exactly what I expect to happen unless there is an announcement made saying that those plans are being scrapped. It would suck majorly to find out that they've failed to deliver something as promised, but it's even worse to just sit on it and let it drag on while keeping quiet about it.
You know, now that I think about it. G Crush did say during the event he and TT hosted, that the Telepathy stuff would take a long time, several months infact.-I only remember this because at that time he gave me his awesome Action Figure.
Now the 4 months of no communication certainly sucks and does not surprise me that Gamehobo is as pissed as he is about it. I got just as pissed about Imbue. But that is because my main was built around it and hasn't been the same since. Which I admit is my fault, I need to make a better build for him.
Anyway. Sadly it is not something that we were promised would come at a specific time, but I definately feel that powers need to come before anything having to do with Vehicles in the future, since they are a huge bust.
In the meantime, I am going to try and enjoy the upcoming Mega event. Gamehobo, if I could I would get you a retrain token, so you could at least play a different build until Telepathy gets the fixes it needs. Unfortunately I can't.

In I believe interviews or the last State of Game they said that they would not be doing true power set passes, but do what they did with Nighthawk, and that was to go over and adjust them and maybe add to them when they are working on content that uses them.
No one here but G Crush can say why he got resources. Maybe he went to a manager and was like "Hey, during times when i cant work on blah can I work on Telepathy? This Gamehobo guy says it blows and I kind'a agree."

Crush did say that there will be no more reviews but he will add in powers to powersets/additions and fixes where he sees there is need.
Telepathy was one of the powersets which sorely needed attention, and for a moment it got it..then it was removed. Taking the time to make powers and implement them in game and getting designs for them (FX etc) seems to me to be quite a bit of work for it not to be delievered to LIVE...like a waste of time.
I get that G_Crush may not have had it as a massive project, but it seemed like (apart from a few issues) it was ready to go on LIVE or at least on that track, before getting run over by a sea of tanks, hoverbikes and their respective lockbox storms.
Either way it is a shame that *whatever* happened to stop this development front behind the scenes happened.

I never tried telepathy but from what i can see on this thread, it sounds like it needs some work, but i guess that is the case with most powersets, i actually do understand where GameHobo comes from because my favourite set is telekinesis and even though that's had a nerf in the past, it still a great set to me and my favourite, but not the blades set, pfft i hate the blades lol.
I wonder how many sets need work, someone should compile a massive list of bugs and things that need attention to and get loads of people to bombard requests for it, i mean they cant ignore 2 million people or however many people play this game right? :P

I encourage you to try it for yourself. Especially having experience with other sets, go and try a telepath build (using telepathy framework). I suspect you will feel the apparent effects that come from 4 years of neglect. I have done so since 2009 and have been left wanting the whole way.
My major complaints:
Holds Mechanic is broken (which is a headache in itself)
No Passive
No Active Offense
No Active Defense
No special utility
Horribad in all boss fights
All Single Target Support
Unable to compete in endgame content as designed
I would love to read your experience.
Also in the original post are 3 other threads of which I better outline all my complaints in plain language explaining both the mechanics and the history of Telepathy's repeated neglect. I encourage you to read them as well for a greater understanding of where this deep-seeded opinions come from.

I only know of one player who uses a telepath for their main (RavenForce), and she is relatively new to the game. All my other friends who had telepaths as their main character have quit the game long long ago.

But really, no offence, but what you was asking from devs all that time, is to change game mechanics entirely. Controll powers just won't work in this game, unless you will change most of this game. And I see no reason for devs to screw gameplay experience for most players just so few can enjoy their pure control builds.

That's probably why Jay replied back the way he did, you effectively called him a moron...
I'd say when time is available this is what they should do...
1) Finish what they started i.e. Telepathy. Get the additions in order and balanced out.
2) Move onto Claws (MA) and other sets like Sorcery and Force
Weird thing is that sets which are meant to share passives seem to have it included in the powerlist already like WoTW for MA Claws. However that being said I notice the Nemesis versions using these powersets seem to have intresting passives for each powerset (except telepathy as all they use Ego Form)
The reason I include Force is because apart from Force Cascade, Force Geyser, Protection Field and IDF, Force lacks reason to pick lower tier attacks like Crushing Wave or Force Blast simply are outshined.
I'm not sure if Force Blast was included in the recent tier 1/starter buffs...
Either way this set seems to want to be able to have both defensive and offensive routes. It pretty much has lower level offense covered but seriously lacks defense such as AoE Shielding, other powerful shields etc...
Apologies, my idea of the tk nerf was from a few people in game hinting that a few patches ago, (not sure how many) stated that the tk block has had a massive nerf to it, im not exactly sure how it has but then i have not been playing for 3 years straight mostly on and off, hope this helps.

I will also report my experience and findings in a list of pros and cons as i pit myself in a 30 day challenge to level up to 40 and compete in as much of the games content as possible.
Once completed i hope to have more of a basic if not more experienced idea as to what the problem is with telepathy, bare in mind, i'm a casual gamer, so my 30 days may not be straight away in order, and due to conflicts in RL i can only make so much of my time dedicated to this game.
But here is the kicker, despite if i do find many flaws, what chances are that my voice will be heard if i do post my opinion on the set? i mean as you say with all due respect you have more experience with the set as well as the game and have been the voice of telepathy, i doubt my voice would make a difference, not that i'm not willing to try and help out, cos believe me this game needs fixing more than they know.

One more voice to a cause is a help, however great or small.
When you find the various flaws with Telepathy, detail them as much as you can, most if not all players who know about telepathy powerset wise know most of it has been rendered largely irrelevant as most of it is based around, crowd control mechanics. Any healing the set has, whilst powerful, can be outdone by the Celestial Powerset. Everyone knows that, it is not "misinformation" as some people may claim it to be.

Hmm, thats intresting...I don't recall anything being done to TK Block recently or since last year...
I would like to see Ego Storm be useful again. Remove the Incapacitate, replace it with Disorient and Snare then call it done. It would work just fine as a maintained AoE damage. The Disorient would allow it to still function for self activating TP Reverb.

In that case, I pity telepathy even more...however as always some people can make intresting out of set telepathy toons...mostly offensive though...which sort of appeals to me :biggrin:

I'm sure lots of company managers wish they were as wealthy and powerful as EA, or Blizzard. But this game WILL NEVER be a WoW or Battlefield or Call of Duty, we just aren't that big or as advertised as those game are.
Cryptic needs to wake the hell up and realize this is a niche market and to focus on taking care of existing customers.
When you don't have the money to directly advertise, you need to make sure word-of-mouth is effective.
It's hard for word-of-mouth to be effective when you're leaving customers feeling like things they recently purchased were cheapened (on everything from subscribers to Hawkwings) and your software is riddled with bugs (from nuisance to game-breaking).
Mega corporations like Blizzard or EA can treat their customers like trash because losing a customer, or a thousand customers even, won't affect them even in the slightest.
The way I see it (and this is my personal opinion here) I see this game coming to a tragic end. Much like CoH.
I quit the game MONTHS ago-not because of the powers, but they did had a great impact on my decision (especially Telepathy)- I quit because of the way they're managing the game. They purely suck at it. I don't like how they're running the game and I don't have to like it, they prefer to put more and more content than to fix the bugs that are lingering throughout.
And don't get me started on those useless vehicles! All the publicity and the announcements for them and they turned out to be crap.
I really hope the best for them, I really do. And to all the players that still play this game. . . Good Luck.

Although I am not a naysayer as you well know and I love the build you have made (it is simply lovely).
Rather the issue I have is that running a telepath build in its seemingly intended role of support not ranged has dimished effectiveness and lacks the ability to be a real competitor (IMO) against other builds.
I find it an annoyance that the majority of CC powers like placate, confuses (with the exception of Mentella's confuse ) and maintained holds are in their current state. Ego Storm is useful for building stacks of Manipulator and thats it really... it's holds as I showed you can be broken out of easily even at 8 stacks of Manipulator.
Crowd Control system...of charged holds is all well and good I suppose, I'm just pissed that we had crowd control powers which actually functioned well and looked like hope for the powerset which has been needing help for a while has been quickly removed and covered over like it never happened...but on the brightside for Cryptic they got me to get a Lifetime Subscription because of it so I guess they got something out of it...
Then again all this is my opinion, yes it is possible to run a telepath build, but without the unique passive, which we were given and the powers...it feels a bit bare to me...and since I already have a build planned out for my telepath...I am very reluctant to go offensive, its just not really my style.
For the meantime, I know exactly what Mentella will be doing...

Yes, placates and confuses need to be reviewed. I've only thought of using Ego Placate as more debuff on my debuff character.
Maintained holds, on the other hand, seem lacking but I'm convinced from one of the Grab alerts I ran last night that they're not as bad off as people seem to make them out to be. Using Ego Storm I successfully kept two Enforcers and a Master Villain held through a crit Epidemic build *and* a Conflag build.
As far as charged holds go, I don't use them. All of my CC is AoE. TK Maelstrom (5 second stun), Ego Sleep (1-7 target "I'll fight you in a moment") and Ego Storm.

Call what you want. I know you've been advocating changes to Telepathy as passionately as I advocated for PFF. I'm not trying to say it's great in the current state, just it's not terribly bad. The way that I use my abilities is reactively. I don't let the fight start and then try to control, I jump in first with a 5 second stun and go from there.
As for Legendary+: Yeah, I'm not holding them but I will toss out a good amount of damage very quickly. Ego Blast with Mind Opener grants me 3.2k crit (combined damage) on a tap.

Redemption was just a throw away power that fits in theme.
TK Shield, because...well...enhanced block.
Ego Surge to boost Ego and damage.
TK Maelstrom = AoE 5 target stun.
Conviction because the build has 36% crit and 94% severity. Also it's (duh) self heal.
Ego Form because I like to have the cost discount on Mentalist powers. Used to be Night Warrior (might switch back if I can manage energy for it)

The build you posted is great. I think it's rude to criticize people's builds but I will say this:
Doing a Ranged Ego damage build is comparable to doing other Ranged Damage builds (Ice, Fire, Etc). But if you are doing ranged a ranged ego damage build you are (in my opinion) essentially making a ranged TK build not telepathy. 6 of 14 (13 if you skip EB) powers are out of set and of the telepathy powers taken you areare gimping yourself by taking telepathy choices versus a larger damage or utility counterpart.
Holds are weaker
Heals are weaker
Mobility is less
Damage is less (TK assault vs Ego Blast)
Cyrone, you know I love you. But IF players wanted telepathy to be a reskinned ranged-damage set they would have asked for that and been satisfied with Ranged TK. Count me as one of the many who after April 21, 2011 was majorly disappointed.
I am complaining about rotten apples and you are telling me how delicious oranges can be.
P.S. - Your manipulator must suck pretty major without building for PRE nor INT. You are likely much better served using Concentration (EGO) or Compassion (REC)
P.P.S. - Correct me if I'm wrong but Telepathic Reverb only works when a hold is successful making Mind Opener another self gimp to all boss fights so your base damage goes down substantially

I'm with Jaybezz with regards to the fact that if the devs promise to deliver something, which in this case is getting the telepathy changes to live (why would it be in the PTS otherwise?), then they should follow up with it ASAP.
Before anyone throws me a "Oh but they need time to work on bugs and balance", yeah maybe they should have focused more on that for the past few months instead of just trying to get the vehicles out the door quickly.

They've openly declared the kind of fixes and power additions for Telepathy including Manipulator that I'd imagine would vastly improve the gameplay experience of anyone who's running a Telepathy CC-oriented build on the PTS. That was in September last year. I think it's past due that they bring it all over to live. I can understand that anyone who've been anticipating the changes and additions and waiting that long would be annoyed.
If he quit from being annoyed for being kept waiting for so long, I don't blame him. But of course because he quit so his opinions on the game has to be invalid right? Obviously prior gameplay experience magically becomes irrelevant.

Holding people accountable. Champions Online is a business. Would you allow for your bank to make promises for future financial product to keep you complacent? Would it be ethical or even legal to promise a future product for the purpose of keeping your business?
So many people are focused on the fact that I quit the game (and apparently my reputation proceeds me in ANY thread I create in the genre of Telepathy Holds.. a badge I wear with honor) that they seem to somehow think that this behavior by a company is acceptable.

Patch after patch there are more new (and returning) bugs than content (and fixes). They do something stupid and say "Oh well" because they can.

This is sort of my situation, telepathy changes were the ONLY reason I went from Silver to LTS in one massive jump, sure I spend time getting together builds for my other chars, but none were/are more important than my telepath Mentella.
Since Late August/September I have had a build based on new telepathy which I am drooling with excitement to play...almost half a year later (from August to soon Feb) I am still waiting for mah telepath to fight using powers other than [Psionic Accelerator] in combat.
I even went out of my way, gambled away for Legion Gears, and outfitted my telepath with the best gear I could get my hands on...and for what purpose now? To strut around Ren Cen without any powers cause they aren't there?
Yes things needed to be fixed BUT that could have been done whilst trying to crap out the vehicles...ugh..makes me so annoyed!
I'mma spend time with people who understand!!

I agree with you. This decision must have come from the game's Executive Producer and its one that I fundamentally disagree with. Specifically because he was the one to announce them.
If we really aren't scheduled for power passes anymore, why in the blue hells would GC be allowed to do some development work on Telepathy regardless? Why is a dev other than GC, that being NisDiddums, releasing patch notes on his behalf when it's his "pet project"? Why is he even allowed development resources to be used for pet projects?
I don't really care. If the information is in the PTS notes and it is represented as something that will be transfered over to live, that's exactly what I expect to happen unless there is an announcement made saying that those plans are being scrapped. It would suck majorly to find out that they've failed to deliver something as promised, but it's even worse to just sit on it and let it drag on while keeping quiet about it.

Now the 4 months of no communication certainly sucks and does not surprise me that Gamehobo is as pissed as he is about it. I got just as pissed about Imbue. But that is because my main was built around it and hasn't been the same since. Which I admit is my fault, I need to make a better build for him.
Anyway. Sadly it is not something that we were promised would come at a specific time, but I definately feel that powers need to come before anything having to do with Vehicles in the future, since they are a huge bust.
In the meantime, I am going to try and enjoy the upcoming Mega event. Gamehobo, if I could I would get you a retrain token, so you could at least play a different build until Telepathy gets the fixes it needs. Unfortunately I can't.

In I believe interviews or the last State of Game they said that they would not be doing true power set passes, but do what they did with Nighthawk, and that was to go over and adjust them and maybe add to them when they are working on content that uses them.

Telepathy was one of the powersets which sorely needed attention, and for a moment it got it..then it was removed. Taking the time to make powers and implement them in game and getting designs for them (FX etc) seems to me to be quite a bit of work for it not to be delievered to LIVE...like a waste of time.
I get that G_Crush may not have had it as a massive project, but it seemed like (apart from a few issues) it was ready to go on LIVE or at least on that track, before getting run over by a sea of tanks, hoverbikes and their respective lockbox storms.
Either way it is a shame that *whatever* happened to stop this development front behind the scenes happened.

I wonder how many sets need work, someone should compile a massive list of bugs and things that need attention to and get loads of people to bombard requests for it, i mean they cant ignore 2 million people or however many people play this game right? :P

I encourage you to try it for yourself. Especially having experience with other sets, go and try a telepath build (using telepathy framework). I suspect you will feel the apparent effects that come from 4 years of neglect. I have done so since 2009 and have been left wanting the whole way.

I only know of one player who uses a telepath for their main (RavenForce), and she is relatively new to the game. All my other friends who had telepaths as their main character have quit the game long long ago.

I'd say when time is available this is what they should do...
1) Finish what they started i.e. Telepathy. Get the additions in order and balanced out.
2) Move onto Claws (MA) and other sets like Sorcery and Force
Weird thing is that sets which are meant to share passives seem to have it included in the powerlist already like WoTW for MA Claws. However that being said I notice the Nemesis versions using these powersets seem to have intresting passives for each powerset (except telepathy as all they use Ego Form)
The reason I include Force is because apart from Force Cascade, Force Geyser, Protection Field and IDF, Force lacks reason to pick lower tier attacks like Crushing Wave or Force Blast simply are outshined.
I'm not sure if Force Blast was included in the recent tier 1/starter buffs...
Either way this set seems to want to be able to have both defensive and offensive routes. It pretty much has lower level offense covered but seriously lacks defense such as AoE Shielding, other powerful shields etc...

Apologies, my idea of the tk nerf was from a few people in game hinting that a few patches ago, (not sure how many) stated that the tk block has had a massive nerf to it, im not exactly sure how it has but then i have not been playing for 3 years straight mostly on and off, hope this helps.

As my next plan off action i intend to spend my monthly points on new character slots, and i will create a telepathy character, however i will not try the AT but a custom framework instead.
I will also report my experience and findings in a list of pros and cons as i pit myself in a 30 day challenge to level up to 40 and compete in as much of the games content as possible.
Once completed i hope to have more of a basic if not more experienced idea as to what the problem is with telepathy, bare in mind, i'm a casual gamer, so my 30 days may not be straight away in order, and due to conflicts in RL i can only make so much of my time dedicated to this game.
But here is the kicker, despite if i do find many flaws, what chances are that my voice will be heard if i do post my opinion on the set? i mean as you say with all due respect you have more experience with the set as well as the game and have been the voice of telepathy, i doubt my voice would make a difference, not that i'm not willing to try and help out, cos believe me this game needs fixing more than they know.

One more voice to a cause is a help, however great or small.
When you find the various flaws with Telepathy, detail them as much as you can, most if not all players who know about telepathy powerset wise know most of it has been rendered largely irrelevant as most of it is based around, crowd control mechanics. Any healing the set has, whilst powerful, can be outdone by the Celestial Powerset. Everyone knows that, it is not "misinformation" as some people may claim it to be.

I'd rather have a root/stun than Disorient and Snare, but I guess the two other mechanics could work if they superboosted the damage numbers for Ego Storm?
As for in combat...I hate to say it...but even henchmen can't die from one full maintain anymore and if they dont die they can easily snap out of the hold xP...

There is a difference between a joke, even bad one, and a straightforward insult. The difference you can't or refuse to see. Because of the way he wrote this thread, I simply couldn't take him seriously and that's the reason, why you wrote this joke. Half of what he wrote was put in a joking way.
So I apologize if you couldn't handle this joke, unfortunately not all people can laugh at themselves.

And it's not a matter of Ego Storm killing henchmen or not. It's as soon as *ONE* enemy dies from the maintain, the "Incapacitate" is broken, thus interrupting the maintain on the power. This, is so broken it's not even funny.
Oh and Telepathic Reverb *still* scales to Pre.

Well according to Cryptic this is "working as intended" which is pretty accurate as it seems telepathy was "intended" to largely suck
I have said this before and I will say it again...Incapaciderps are nothing more than a sloppy infected band aid for crowd control...and I hate them.

Unfortunately, when a company as prolific as cryptic say "working as intended" what they really mean is "sorry cant be assed lolz but here have some grav bikes but before you do go purchase some cosmic keys in the store NOWZ!!"
To put it politely, and the sad thing about this is, they know exactly what they are doing and will never stop, in a funny ironic nature, they are the villains of our gaming world, quickly becoming like EA where they will ruin games because they want a quick buck or two, so they make you buy through the store, simply cos they are too lazy to do anything else.

I'm sure lots of company managers wish they were as wealthy and powerful as EA, or Blizzard. But this game WILL NEVER be a WoW or Battlefield or Call of Duty, we just aren't that big or as advertised as those game are.
Cryptic needs to wake the hell up and realize this is a niche market and to focus on taking care of existing customers.
When you don't have the money to directly advertise, you need to make sure word-of-mouth is effective.
It's hard for word-of-mouth to be effective when you're leaving customers feeling like things they recently purchased were cheapened (on everything from subscribers to Hawkwings) and your software is riddled with bugs (from nuisance to game-breaking).
Mega corporations like Blizzard or EA can treat their customers like trash because losing a customer, or a thousand customers even, won't affect them even in the slightest.

I quit the game MONTHS ago-not because of the powers, but they did had a great impact on my decision (especially Telepathy)- I quit because of the way they're managing the game. They purely suck at it. I don't like how they're running the game and I don't have to like it, they prefer to put more and more content than to fix the bugs that are lingering throughout.
And don't get me started on those useless vehicles! All the publicity and the announcements for them and they turned out to be crap.
I really hope the best for them, I really do. And to all the players that still play this game. . . Good Luck.
For me, there's no reason (nor will there ever be) for me to play again. They literally obliterated my love for this game.

Taking one months/years old bug and fixing it and tossing a double XP weekend at us doesn't really do much to address some of this game's GLARING issues.

Although I am not a naysayer as you well know and I love the build you have made (it is simply lovely).
Rather the issue I have is that running a telepath build in its seemingly intended role of support not ranged has dimished effectiveness and lacks the ability to be a real competitor (IMO) against other builds.
I find it an annoyance that the majority of CC powers like placate, confuses (with the exception of Mentella's confuse
Crowd Control system...of charged holds is all well and good I suppose, I'm just pissed that we had crowd control powers which actually functioned well and looked like hope for the powerset which has been needing help for a while has been quickly removed and covered over like it never happened...but on the brightside for Cryptic they got me to get a Lifetime Subscription because of it so I guess they got something out of it...
Then again all this is my opinion, yes it is possible to run a telepath build, but without the unique passive, which we were given and the powers...it feels a bit bare to me...and since I already have a build planned out for my telepath...I am very reluctant to go offensive, its just not really my style.
For the meantime, I know exactly what Mentella will be doing...

I call bull.
I desire to see this build fully specc'd teamed with other players.. then pick an mission with a Legendary boss and post the video. Not to mention that I am already sure that more than 4 powers are from out of set if the build is any good. I won't mention PvP (the real kind not crap duels).
Telepathy Sucks. Crowd Control Sucks. Even more so in teams, even MORE so in teams of other telepaths/crowd controllers.

Yes, placates and confuses need to be reviewed. I've only thought of using Ego Placate as more debuff on my debuff character.
Maintained holds, on the other hand, seem lacking but I'm convinced from one of the Grab alerts I ran last night that they're not as bad off as people seem to make them out to be. Using Ego Storm I successfully kept two Enforcers and a Master Villain held through a crit Epidemic build *and* a Conflag build.
As far as charged holds go, I don't use them. All of my CC is AoE. TK Maelstrom (5 second stun), Ego Sleep (1-7 target "I'll fight you in a moment") and Ego Storm.
Call what you want. I know you've been advocating changes to Telepathy as passionately as I advocated for PFF. I'm not trying to say it's great in the current state, just it's not terribly bad. The way that I use my abilities is reactively. I don't let the fight start and then try to control, I jump in first with a 5 second stun and go from there.
As for Legendary+: Yeah, I'm not holding them but I will toss out a good amount of damage very quickly. Ego Blast with Mind Opener grants me 3.2k crit (combined damage) on a tap.

Conviction, TK Maelstrom, Ego Form, Redemption, Ego Surge and Telekinetic Shield.
Redemption was just a throw away power that fits in theme.
TK Shield, because...well...enhanced block.
Ego Surge to boost Ego and damage.
TK Maelstrom = AoE 5 target stun.
Conviction because the build has 36% crit and 94% severity. Also it's (duh) self heal.
Ego Form because I like to have the cost discount on Mentalist powers. Used to be Night Warrior (might switch back if I can manage energy for it)

Doing a Ranged Ego damage build is comparable to doing other Ranged Damage builds (Ice, Fire, Etc). But if you are doing ranged a ranged ego damage build you are (in my opinion) essentially making a ranged TK build not telepathy. 6 of 14 (13 if you skip EB) powers are out of set and of the telepathy powers taken you areare gimping yourself by taking telepathy choices versus a larger damage or utility counterpart.
Holds are weaker

Damage is less (TK assault vs Ego Blast)
Cyrone, you know I love you. But IF players wanted telepathy to be a reskinned ranged-damage set they would have asked for that and been satisfied with Ranged TK. Count me as one of the many who after April 21, 2011 was majorly disappointed.
I am complaining about rotten apples and you are telling me how delicious oranges can be.
P.S. - Your manipulator must suck pretty major without building for PRE nor INT. You are likely much better served using Concentration (EGO) or Compassion (REC)
P.P.S. - Correct me if I'm wrong but Telepathic Reverb only works when a hold is successful making Mind Opener another self gimp to all boss fights so your base damage goes down substantially
