They announced New TEMPORARY Content to be more precise. So... to answer the question, we simply stop complaining about new content... TEMPORARILY.
In all seriousness though, we NEED content that is going to stay in the game. Devs need to go back to making Zones and Comic Series, and bunch of Rampage Alerts to get an actual rotation going in that category and a few more weekly alerts like Hi-pans.
The World Event stuff sounded good, but isn't really what this game is in need of atm.
I recommend you keep complaining until the game gets finished. After 3 years no end game raids and the level cap is 40. Even if you subscribe or buy a LTS to Champions Online you still get a demo version.
Wait for it to roll out and complain that it isn't enough (cuz it probably wont be ).
Also, some of this "new" content is temporary event-type stuff, which frankly I'm tired of seeing. I don't see the point in dropping whatever else I'm doing to rush back to the game just to play a single prolonged Alert for a couple of days, then have it janked out from under me and go back to the usual content.
We'll have to wait and see what they have for the new adventures, but they only have four of them (one each two weeks for the next two months), and they sort of sneaked that in at the begining of the New Bikes and Free Costume Pieces! announcement with no details, so I have no clue how much thought is going into these.

I don't think you know what a "demo" version really is.
The free tutorial trial that was available before F2P: That was a demo version. A game that gives you access to every piece of content plus allowing full character progression is not a demo version: It's a full game.
Something big is on the way to Millennium City. Over the next two months, starting next week, we'll be releasing new adventures, planned for a release every two weeks.
...plus a temporary event and more gambling boxes.

Anybody who would like to see a "demo version" of an MMO, I invite you to take advantage of what WoW calls "Free 2 Play". Try not to lol yourself into a coma afterwards.

That up to level 20 thing?
I really wish I could do f2p WoW that's just 1-60. I would be okay with that.
hope it continues, and hope that we see permanent stuff as well. They announced the other half of an unpopular update, some very great news about costumes that I am very happy about and some events that they mention are like nighthawk. nighthawk was cool but its gone now and we cant play it, permanent additions to the game need to follow, and not just new alerts on rotation. some alerts are cool, i LOVE hi-pan:fury of the dragon, but it rotates out and then its not really helping anything .
the bottom line is though, its a sign of life, a lot of the recent angst has been because of the seeming invisibility of the devs, that they all had been picked up and put on nwo or whatever, this is a start, the costume thing is a big thing for me and I'm happy about it. now lets see where it goes.

lol, playing WoW free 1-20 is about as rewarding as playing this game to the level cap. This game seriously level caps at 40 after 3 years. It has no end game. It has no incentives to keep playing. There are no raids, team size caps at what, 5? 6?
If you want to have an MMO, getting people to have a reason to play together and an opportunity to actually advance their characters is a good start... No. It's not a good start. It's kind of the point of playing in the first place.
Unless you just want an RPfest. In which case, why have combat at all!? Everybody sign up for super hero second life. lol.
Editing for elaboration. In Champions Online, I reached the level cap on my first character in about 2 weeks playing casually. I got the purple heroic primary gear and the secondary questionite gear in about a week, while purchasing rank 6 mods for my primaries in the same time period.
I already beat this game. I even made a couple of alts, because wtf else am I supposed to do? Yeah, the character building rules here. Free form is one of the best MMO mechanics I've ever seen. The gear customization being unrelated to stats is awesome too. But THERE'S NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Once you win, you win. Unless you want to participate in 1v1 pvp forever while people wait for alerts to do the same crap forever. It's just mind numbingly dull. There is no challenge, or even opportunity for challenge.
Champions Online has no opportunity to actually FINISH playing the game. It just stops. There is no work to do, no progress. You beat it inside three months.
And the game itself is awesome. This is a freaking AWESOME start to an MMO. If the entire game was a teaser for a game coming out next year, I wouldn't be able to contain how stoked I was. This would be a gamer's dream in a lot of ways. Free form, customization, active combat. People would eat this stuff up.
Except the game just kind of randomly stops at 40. I don't know how you can play this game and not wonder, "Where's the rest of it?"
Ima just hope this "new content" is the start of a trend. If 4 missions is all we're getting after waiting as long as we've been, that's worrying. If it's just the start of development, then that's exciting.
Nothing has really changed, this announcement is a stopgap.
I'm going to cry softly in a corner while hugging a teddy bear. Temporary content is bad.

Pretty much where I am, too. And it strikes me funny how close this attitude is to the ones I usually reserve for political candidates I've voted for.
Editing for elaboration. In Champions Online, I reached the level cap on my first character in about 2 weeks playing casually. I got the purple heroic primary gear and the secondary questionite gear in about a week, while purchasing rank 6 mods for my primaries in the same time period.
A casual player doesn't hit max level and get all top gear in 2-3 weeks.
Just sayin'.
A casual player doesn't hit max level and get all top gear in 2-3 weeks.
Just sayin'.
Depends what you call casual, and what the player does.
Its easy to get to lvl 40 in 20 hours gameplay, thats 3 weeks in 1 hour a day.
The best primary gear (not couting legion gear thats rare in lockboxes that no longer drop) is heroic gear, 3 pieces takes 1 hour a day for 6 days to get.
Dropped purple secondaries are almost as good as best gear in game (better for some specific builds) and you would have those by time you do the above, or can buy cheap in AH.
I get that you're burned out and feel that there's not much to do when you've hit max level, but that still doesn't make the game a "demo version". Every form of explorable content and content that sees to your character's progression has been available to you from the beginning. You were able to reach max level without being required to pay any sort of ingame or RL fee to do so. A demo does not allow you to do these things. You just used that term for the sake of hyperbole.
My daughter is a casual gamer. She plays once or twice a week for 2-3 hours.
Her main toon is level 31 after a few months of play, and she has several alts that are levels 10-20.
A serious gamer can get a toon to level 40 in no time using alerts, which will also generate the Q needed for elite gear.
I was chatting with another player online last week who had a similar line: "I've played for a few weeks, hit max level, have best gear, have done everything."
The player hadn't done everything, since they only did one leveling path to hit 40. This player also took the max leveled toon to go back and do some missed missions, even ones that were for levels 20-30. This player also didn't have the best gear, since he didn't know about three slot gear and Vigilante gear.
Anyway, what I am saying is that a serious gamer can get a toon up to max level with good gear quickly. Yes, "you win". But did you actually experience the game? Did you play through the various story arcs? Heck, there are three separate end game zones for levels 35-40. You could not have played all them with the same toon unless your maxed out toon then went back to do them.
Why not make another toon and play the content you missed with your first one?
Aside from West Side, you can play three toons without repeating any content, four if you include the adventure packs and comics series.
Its amnesic nostalgia.. do you not remember all the previous disappointments of "content"? What makes you think this will be different.
If you have long term memory (hell short term imho) and critical thinking skills you will know that ideas are not champions-online's death nail. It is implementation.
Lets review:
Alerts .. instead of working like the bank robbery missions that are area driven (as they clearly sold them to me in idea form) are just RP-Less mini-boss fights.
Vehicles, Instead of travel powers (with or without access to powers) are.. ugh become devices. I mean I fully stat a character to become some weak PoS?
They announced a badass Halloween event..*just shakes head
UNTIL Field reports and State of the Game communication.. FINALLY a way to keep people plugged into the future of the game..and fail
Telepathy on PTS.. AWESOME! I will give you $300 just for getting that far.. 5 months later my toon has no powers.
In this game of Great Expectations the devs are Ms Havisham and I'm a lowly Pip who wants only to love Estella. Stop making her into such a b****!

My first level 40.
I tried to do everything while leveling... for examply did everything in Canada up to lvl 20? then did all content on the desert up to lvl 20, and then went to millenium and so on.
By the time I was on Monster Island I hit lvl 40 without even touching Lemuria or VB, and I went and did all the story arcs on both places as well.
Took me 8 days to be max level, and half the time was spent making costumes.
After hitting max level it took me roughly a full month to experience all content (Trying to find a team for Lemurian Crisis was really time consuming )
The stories are good... and they get better as you get higher level...
When I started the game, it all felt like coming from 60's Batman show... and ughh that was... bad... but as you move to other story lines after Westside, things get more and more into the Bronze Age of comics kinda vibe... and that is far more to my likings, darker, but not as silly uber dark like Iron Age, and heroic, but not silly like Silver age... an almost perfect balance.
I think a good way to keep content relevant in the game, would be to make every single mission work like the Nemesis ones... every mission scaling to your level. Problem would be on the open world missions once you outlevel them, but then agian, there are some Nemesis popcorn missions that spawn high lvl NPC on low level zones when you get close tot he mission area... and something like this could work.

I recently did a new main just doing mission content with no buffs, i missed out a moderate amount of 12-25 content to avoid outleveling things, but by time i hit 40 i had only a cple missions left in monster island/lemuria that were lvl 39-40 and all of vibora bay, every other 25+ mission i had done. To do a second chr to do vibora bay at say 37-40 i would have been repeating a LOT of content.
We form a complete opinion on the new content despite having seen next to none of it, consider said opinion to be fact and then complain about those facts of course.
Also we complain that even though we've been saying new content forever, now that it's been announced we don't want new content because there are still bugs to be fixed and that needs to be done first.
Now that I've said this I'm going to go back to the first page, actually read through the thread, and see if I was right.

Subjectiveness about the term "casual" aside...YES, they do. Particularly since there are XP boosters and smash alerts to significantly expedite the process along with some trivial exploits still present in the game. Getting to cap in this game is not a long endeavor in the game's current state. You have to almost try not to.
I suspect the reason why we're getting event / temporary content is because it takes less effort / time / money to create content for existing zones than it does to create, say, new lairs and the requisite art time.
It also makes the game look more vibrant and alive to have in-zone events with players bumping up against each other than in instances.
The downsides, of course, are that the event has to be killed before players lose interest and that you don't want multiple events going off at once.
As others have said, it looks like Cryptic is trying to churn out enough in-zone events so that something reasonably interesting is always happening -- using as few developmental resources as possible.

Don't forget the part where people come in with their condescending posts...they are part of the forum regular just like doom posts.
In all seriousness though...I don't think anyone is saying we don't want new content...and it's only logical to want bug fixes first.

You wanna know how hard it is to drop critters into a map.. they do it in 10 seconds on PTS. I mean no more than 1 minute.
Soooo excited at this GRAND gesture of work. Especially since my toon will be SO active in it with all her awesome... wait that's right she has only **** powers to choose from for her concept because devs hate telepathy.

Not very.
It was mostly bemoaning that said content is... temporary and will only be sticking around for a few days before we're once again stuck with the "same ol' same ol'."

I haven't clearly...
Don't you have something invisible to go pick up and throw at a bug somewhere?

Not very.
It was mostly bemoaning that said content is... temporary and will only be sticking around for a few days before we're once again stuck with the "same ol' same ol'."
