Nah they will tell you that the event is suppose to start 10AM PST/1PM EST. At least that is what I was told in zone chat, however I have not seen an offical post anywhere stating that either. My hopes are low on this one too.

There's a tree in ren cen and snow effect. What is supposed to be happening that isn't? Like an invasion or something?

You can get gifts from the Tree, if you collect a bunch of mob-junk you can trade that stuff in to the elves for some gear, Clarence is out and about hugging and smashing, and there's a mini-lair to run for costume pieces and stuff. You get the mission to do that after beating Clarence.
The boss was very challenging and I simply adored the voice acting.
It may not be a huge addition to last year's event but it was well executed nonetheless.

Also missing the point--I don't have to compare this game to GW2* to draw the conclusion that this event not being on was a fail because as far as I know this event has never been this late in this game before, which makes it a failure even if we lower down the bar to CO's standards.

I was perfectly chilled at the time of that post. It was more a comment on the fact any time someone brings up something being broken and people start to comment on it someone seems to come along and chastises them for acknowledging the presence of broken features.

There is a whole dedicated team of devs working hard on this game, it's only that they can't answer to each and everyone of your posts, of course!
Just because I look outside from my window and see no cat outside doesn't mean cats are an extinct species.
Now lay down the doom pipe and be more positive, it'll help the game.
Very strange cat analogy, tell me...when you look out of your window and see no cats in your garden, would you think that there are no cats on your garden, or imagine an invisible team of them, in your garden shed, working on an mmo? O.o

I already had before you dug up that post from the first page after it had already become irrelevant, considering that the event was already up and running by that time.
You keep drinking that Kool-Aid! I'm sure that if you say that often enough it might be true. And considering that (as has already been pointed out) two could technically be considered a "team" it might already be.
Of course it doesn't. There might still be cats in other parts of the world (other game companies) or even in other neighborhoods (projects or divisions within the same company). But if you consistently look outside your window and there are never any cats, it might just be an indication that there might not be any (or many) around your house or neighborhood (the actual game you play).
I'd say that bringing up questions about my family/friends--whether I have any or spend time with them during the Holidays--just because I made a comment in a game board that did not involve anyone's family in it qualifies as a personal insult.
Because the devs are supposed to out on the factory floor in full view of the foremen-players once they've clocked in?
