I complain because this game has a whole lot of potential that is wasted on things like lock boxes and cheap cash grabs. there are a lot of legitimatly great ideas fans post that gets ignored. if this game updated things more often like customization and power sets, as well as improving powers already (like running across water or climbing walls) this game would be hands down the best superhero mmo out there.
Naming this release is like making "Reloaded" sound like the game has gone through an actual update.
This is a misstep because vehicles are NOT new content and should not have received a marketing term.
Patch would have done much better low key and un-named. By calling it "Reloaded" i gained expectations.. said expectations were not met. All i feel left is disappointment.
ok so really you guys said we can CUSTOMIZE yes you said Customize our vehicles like character creation ? cause right now we can only upgrade vehicles like where slotting gear right ? like gear we got but this type of gear gives us some sortaa cheap vehicle ,If u guys said that is customizable like your hero how comes i can even change how the gun looks or how the glass looks ? cause i got the tank RIDGEBACK and i can only buy stupid weapons tht cost 80k q and more like really 80k for a rank1 mod ? 80k can buy me 2 costume pieces why would i buy a mod and btw im lvl 40 and i get rank 1 mods to 4 shouldnt lvl 40's get rank5 ?after all our hard work of lvling up ? wow this really pissed me off:mad: fixed your **** or im goin back to STAR TREK --> http://sto.perfectworld.com/ link to it if u wanna try it peoples
I can't help but ask myself: If you feel you have to prevent any player feedback from being visible on your next update because you suspect it will be that great of a backlash, why are you making the update?
The content is fine and the vehicles are fine, like the 200 Drifter Salvage one. Since no one has released any info about what it actually costs.
It costs about $71. Average Drifter Salvage drop out of the Tako lockboxes is 2.8. I highly doubt they increased the Salvage gain out of the new vehicle lockbox.
Welcome to STO version 0.1. 0.1 because it's no where near as good as the customization of STO. We got the prototype prototypes. By the way, I'm still upset that the whole reason that I worked so hard to get a jet, is now totally cancelled out. I worked hard to get it for the SPEED. Now, it moves slower than mud. It's just occupying bank space now because of this. It's not even something I can use in any sort of practical fashion really. I move faster just teleporting over somewhere and turning on my jetboots. Why not just make them be able to move at the max speed that's allowable (doesn't cause game issues), and add more utility slots? Obviously, they have enough weapons right? (even though the weapons are now substandard for vehicles in general)
In referrence to the keys and content... Keys should have been included as maybe a common drop from certain lair bosses on Elite. The big ones that come to mind are Vikorin, the Bronze King, and the baby dino in the Viper Lair. They are all a royal PITA (pain in the ****) to get to. Vikorin and the baby dino especially are turds to beat on elite. Neither one really drops anything now. Also, you'll want to "beef-up" their health bars so that people running around who are "facerolling" them now won't be able to do this anymore. They'd actually have a hard/difficult fight on their hands! The horror! I know that people have been doing Vikorin (and there aren't too many of them doing this ) at chances for costume drops. The "flagging" for getting into both of those lairs could be "re-worked" as well. Make it so that you HAVE to do the entire chain of missions to be able to even get in. Make it so that ONLY gold players can pick up/share the mission. Silvers would have to have it shared to them by a gold player in order to step inside.
These changes will do a number of things.
1 - Make it so that great numbers of people will be spread around doing missions/content that is hardly even looked at now-a-days. (Give a small reward like a chance at a key at the VERY end of the entire chain of missions is/will be big incentive for people to actually go out to MI or Lemuria and do all those missions they've been totally avoiding. By the way, I've only done the missions on a few of my 40s.)
2 - Encourage grouping with/between silver and gold players. (Obviously, there are greater number of silvers than gold players right now. So golds would probably have to "expand" their parameters of group-mates in order to fill groups and make lair runs as quick as possible. I'm not prejudiced against silvers as group-mates as it is now. Just level 7s doing Alerts. I mean seriously, seriously. Make a few friends that are level 40 and group with them to burn through Alerts. Don't subject others to that sort of thing.)
3 - Give gold players a /nod for their $s/subs. (Giving golds the only ability to share/get the final mission would/should satisfy them and show them a little "love". Making/keeping them, more or less, happy and knowing that they haven't been forgotten/left behind. I know I would be.)
4 - Maybe encourage a few silvers to actually pick up subs in order to be able to get into these lairs without someone elses aid. ('Ugh! I need to depend on gold players in order to get into this place? I actually have to be nice to them?! Horrors. Heck with that! I'm just going to pick up my own sub so I don't have to depend on those lousey/greedy golds anymore!!!' Nuff said?)
(By the way, I didn't include the others lairs because they were either too easy to get through or had short-cuts like Therakiel's crystal keys. If you removed the keys and forced groups/people to fight through the entire thing, Therakiel would make the list easily.)
You'd still be able to sell lots of keys through the Z-Store because there'll ALWAYs be people with more money than time on their hands.
Also, yes, there ARE people out there that can solo those lairs. BUT, it'd still take them a lot longer than a group AND the beefing up of the health bars for the bosses would make them a MAJOR PITA to solo.

Just a quick heads-up/word of warning for folks like me who may have alts they haven't played for a while sitting in the powerhouse... the vehicle tutorial apparently pops each character you log on to into MC. Just had it happen with a character that (luckily) had absolutely no powers picked that had been sitting in the Powerhouse while I was experimenting with builds.
I got off lucky because I had no powers that could've been made permanent (and thus cost G to remove) by the teleport out of the powerhouse, but I don't know how it would affect somebody who was in the process of trying out new powers in the powerhouse before the update hit.
The powers probably get locked in...
Like what was the reasoning behind whole teleport thing? Get people to read the popup info window? Well, that didn't work since there's plenty of clueless people on Zone, well more than usually. Lower levels that were in the middle of Tutorial now wondering wth happened...
And thanks for the heads up, dude. Didn't even thought of that. I guess neither did Cryptic. I got few alts in PH with some powers on testing, i guess i wont be loggin on with them.
Come on Cryptic, get a grip!

Alright, this game could be named Complainers Online and still make sense.
On topic though, I really want to buy a gravbike. Still not there .
Again, why do you play CO if all you do is whining of vehicles and 'lack of new content'?
YOU and the other complainers are destroying the fanbase with your alarmist nonsense.

You guys need to rewrite the tutorial. If anyone has to ask "what is a vehicle?" he shouldn't be playing this game. It's an insult to human intelligence.
If view the previous complains posted by users from the positive side, they can be treated as feedback from players. There is always opposition and agreement towards a new stuff introduce by someone. Cryptic should take note of every single complain or comment about this new content and make a statistic to find out is it successful or not. Even the result might not be encouraging, CRYPTIC can do something else to improve the new content.
Anyway, it will be very awesome if the vehicles can be made into some sort of transformers which possess the ability to change into humanoid form and merge with the player's hero and function as additional armor and weapon to the hero's powers. Moreover, players is given the opportunity to customize the outfit for their hero after the transformation either with robotic-look, fantasy appearance or organic. After merging the vehicle with the hero's body, the hero will become larger, run faster and hit harder. The transformation ability is available to be purchased wither with quetonite or zen.
My only concern about the addition of the vehicle system is the lock box element that has been related to it. It's not so much that in particular, but it makes we wonder just how many things to come will also have lock boxes related to them.
Since even Gold players must pay points to access them with a fairly high cost per key, even the bonus points they get each month will not allow the opening of many boxes, which if they are so inclined could end out being costly.
As a recent subscriber to the game the potential for expansion of the lock box system to more and more things, making more and more of my drops possibly be money sink opportunities as opposed to a usable in game item (or at least one I can sell to other players), and perhaps limit my access to content related to various lock boxes in some way as they become more widespread, despite being a subscriber, isn't a very appealing thought.
Edit:Although they say they can't be sold they can be sold in the auction house, which makes them pretty much a non-issue to me in many ways after all. As such, they should be a welcome addition to the tame for those who wished their character(s) to have a vehicle of some kind.

Sorry guys, you lost me at "Champions Online:Reloaded", what has actually been reloaded?
If I wanted to play a game where purchasing vehicles and "unlocking" mods to make the vehicles "better" was considered new content, I would have played something like NFS online....
Considering this update warranted a re-badge of the game title, I expected more than just purchasing vehicles and mods and the premise of having "the best" vehicle in the game, and a mission created to justify my purchase on a vehicle..

The problem with using the Forums as a guide for change in the game is that all you will generally hear is the negative feedback, as those who feel the new additions/changes are for the worse will be the ones posting. Those who enjoy/approve of the new addition/changes are too busy enjoying them in-game to spend as much time as those staying out of the game because of their need to vent. Also, not everyone who plays the game is active on the forums for a number of reasons.
Ultimately, it also becomes a 'mob rules' system where the people who scream the loudest, use the dirtiest tricks (many dummy alt accounts to pose as a large crowd, ect.), and who can suppress any kind of reasoned discussion determine the course of the game. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to see that happen here.
This game update is just like most updates, and politics in general. The people who don't have an interest in what was produced raise an uproar that their personal needs weren't satisfied (who cares about the game/world as a whole, it's all about me) and that the effort of doing one thing should have been directed at something for them, while those that have an interest are divided between those who benefitted and those who lost something.
In that context, the game gained a number of vehicles, and a new mission, as well as a system for future vehicles and systems. What was lost? Nothing I can see. People who don't want to use vehicles will still play the game without them, and can even participate in the new mission without one. So it is a gain for the game, with no loss. I'd consider that a good update.
I can think of 2 actual things lost, before considering the subjective.
1) Lost access to legion gear with tako cache being replaced with hover tank lockbox
2) Lost 1/3rd of all mod drops that have been replaced with vehicle mod drops
Well, lockboxes are, by definition, temporary access devices. The tako cache items were event-specific, so I can't see anyone being surprised they are not available after the event (and I think they were even noted as being temporary, but I don't have that reference at the moment) . No doubt the Hover Tank lockbox will go the same way when the next release is made, with the items in them no longer available at that time.
As for the mod drops, most of those are just going to the sale que, as you can't use most of the stuff you get anyway. You don't lose anything there, as you can sell the vehicle mods the same way you could sell the other mods. Also, nothing says you can't get the same mods with 1/3 more playtime -as well as- the vehicle mod stuff to sell, so you haven't lost anything except what you 'may have' gotten.
So, in summary, you lost what was going to be lost anyway, and still have the things you would have had even if you have to work a little harder to get them (with an appropriate boost in items you don't need and can sell). In return, you gained a new mission, and the option to have a vehicle in the game (with additional possibilities for future items and missions as a result).
You can still pick up Takoboxes in the AH - when I checked yesterday, they were going for a global apiece, although I was tempted to play spoiler by tossing a bunch in there for 50 nationals a pop.

Something is up with the chances since they left the limelight, I opened 3 and I got a lot of Rank 7 mods which happened to concide with my telepath's super stats... o.o
I can understand why making fully customisable geos for vehicles was not a real possibility, but there is no excuse for not making their textures colorable at tailor. This is only one texture per vehicle chassis, just assign color channels to it and hook it into tailor, like PA weaponry (but make it visible at tailor, unlike PA gizmos).
Not having at least this basic customisation is harming even your revenue from vehicles, face it Cryptic. People playing CO aren't your average crowd playing average fantasy game. Heck, we are here mostly because CO is not an average fantasy game.
People won't be repeatable throwing money only for buying another almost identical vehicle because it has slightly different camo pattern.
This isn't like buying another fancy mount in fantasy game, besides, in almost all fantasy games said mounts are far less overpriced. So collecting them as a vanity stuff makes more sense.
This isn't the case with CO vehicles. Without having at least this basic option people here will quickly lose any interest in this stuff, some of us may end buying one vehicle, rarely using it, and that's all.
It's not that making our tanks, jets and bikes colorable is a lot of work - it worked with bikes on PTS, right?
I agree, we should be allowed to color them at least. Those vehicles need at least a BIT of customization in them that relates to the appearance, and not mods. But it would be nice to just change the chassis itself if possible, not individual parts, but the entire chassis.
Colorable Patterns. In a Pimp-Your-Vehicle Shop in Westside. Throw in Colorable Emblems On Colorable Patterns. Sell sets in Z-store, make some money, everyone wins.
But i get that Asian Overlords don't like about customising PC's. And Boxes, they like Boxes, alot. Because Boxes keep their games making money without too much effort.

The box fairy decided to reward you for opening a few stale Tako boxes instead of the new box
Well, one good thing about this for me. Tanks are VERY supervillainy, and I've recently found playing ex-supervillains to be my thing, taking common villainious themes and then flipping the moral alignment without losing visual style.
Oughta be recolourable, but since it isn't, eh. I'll take what I can get while things are still gettable.
Shame we can't have a vehicle creator, with similar customiseability to the character creator. Have a basic chassis, and have customiseable parts that can attatch onto that base body, which has numerous adjustable sliders for various segments, like wheel/(otherformoftransportationsystem) size/width, etc, nose length, etc.
Would be nice, but okay, I'll dig this jive, since it means I can fly around Millenium City in a tank and threaten people with DOOMY DOOMS!
I still would like land vehicles. I know it'll be silly, with lag and whatnot meaning it basically would be like if you turned all Zones into one big bumper cart ride thing, but I think it'd be nice to have a police cruiser. Or hell, police motorbikes now we know that we can sit on the top of vehicles now.

Yeap I agree with you regarding to the weakness of the forums but still it will be useful. There have been many complaints about the vehicles long before they are released. CRYPTIC can take note on the negative feedback from players still as there are still room for improvement. Moreover, they can work together with the GMs online in the game. We can notice many people are discussing about this topic. From there, CRYPTIC also can gather a lot of comments.
Earning money is important to a company but if they overdo it without taking account into consumers's feedback, it will end up with chaos one day and everyone will say bye bye to the game.

I seriously wanted to sell a group of 999 for a single Local, but the AH would only let me put 22 up at a time. Weird huh?
1) Almost no new playable content.
2) Better vehicules (4 weapon mods, 2 support mods, 2 defense mods) in lock boxes only.
3) Subs don't serve to anything but sponsorize developpements of products we can't have with our subs, and we must to buy them a second time in the store or in the lock boxes.
It seems you don't need subscribers then my subscription is cancelled now.
Good luck for the future, Cryptic.

It could be worse sadly. Over in STO, all the top gear is now locked behind a "reputation" system that makes you grind content to pay to level your rep, only to have to grind to pay to unlock the ability to buy it, only to have to grind to pay to buy it when before you just had to do a few runs for the lower gear but the highest was a pure luck chance drop.
Either way this update was a bit of a disappointment for me and to be honest i'm not even sure i've seen that many vehicles roaming around the streets. I'm curious how this is being taken at Cryptic as every one seems very hush hush since it launched other than trailturtle being awesome and lordgar ont the PTS updates.

But i get that Asian Overlords don't like about customising PC's. And Boxes, they like Boxes, alot. Because Boxes keep their games making money without too much effort.

I honestly thought it was just me. Maybe we need to nerf the vehicle speed some more?
Explains why I got DS 4 times in a row on my magic themed char V_____V.
I just gave them away for free xD

Can a hero just hover with the Hoverboard or is the 130 flight speed a must do?
To me, it looks more like one ship is trying to make baby-ships with the other ship.
Works similarly to the Hoverdisk TP except better.
Ive seen stacks of caches as large as 250 in the AH
