Ok people. Fighter planes.

Let's play a game. Most of us/you know about the vehicles now in PTS.
How many of your characters actually have use for a fighter plane? Out of my 43 alts, only 9 would/could use a jetfighter. Or can turn into a one....
EDIT* Let's make a little sense of using one, just a tiny bit.
EDIT2*No, this isn't about being negative against vehicles.

    Who says it has to make sense. If you asked me If an Amazonian princess living on a remote primitive island would have access to a jet....and an invisible one at that. Id scoff.

    What i wonder is also, how many Superheroes really use vehicles and also for fighting.
    Wonderwomen has her Jet and the Fantastic Four have their vehicle, but the only one
    i know who actually fights sometimes with weapons from his vehicle is only Batman.

    Out of 24 characters, 9 make sense... maybe 2-3 more but that would be pushing it. Needless to say I am uber glad to have a Bats homage in my active roster (and that I made her even before of knowing that the vigilante powers and jet were coming... also read homage not clone.)... can't wait.

    I'm trying to figure out what the point is here. Simple survey? If so, then my main has a jet fighter. It's just been 'in the shop'. I think this is going to be awesome, and I honestly hope we see motorcycles.

    I hope you're not screaming because this isn't useful to all your characters. If that is the case, then try a new idea- don't use it. I mean, honestly, I have ZERO cares about any of the magic/mystical/paranormal stuff in CO, but I'm glad there's the option out there for some folks.

    I think you hit it square on with your "It's just been in the shop" it might be more of a role play tool or a addition to your toons "costume" than anything practical.

    When I think of super vehicles I usually think of something like Gatchaman.

    Right, because let's be honest- Rocket Boot Power Armor and Caped Cosmo can fly to the other side of the country. Mystical Mary can open up a portal and teleport there. Armiger can't reasonably explain that he 'Parkour'd to Vibora Bay from Monster Island'.

    On the PTS, I can't see my jet, but I take that they aren't complete yet. These do seem like a fun way to play the game, maybe kill some time outside farming.

    No it's not a survey. The main point was 'let's play a game'. Just a simple discussion about the coming jetfighter/heavyfighter/supportfighter.
    1st i did write: This is not a negative rant about vehichles. I took it out since there's nothing about "screaming" how these don't fit to my characters. I have 40+ alts and growing and some of them don't use a aeroplane to gundown their targets and some do, call it a roleplay. Simple point being would your DarkLordOfBloodAndDarknessSetToRuleManKind use a fighter plane...

    Maybe we will see then masses of Topper Harley Clones in future :redface:

    Or even Richard Gere clones ? :confused:

    Because every Jet-Pilot will now be called a Superhero.

    Of my heroes, HandyMan might plausibly fly a jet (although as I posted elsewhere, he really wants a multi-mode vehicle that can drive, fly, or submerge as needed), since he is, aside from his intellect, mostly tech (his other advanced stats are based on his high-tech combat suit).

    Steely Dan's alien battle armor might conceivably morph into a jet for long-distance travel.

    And Spider-Bat could be imagined building such a craft in his Cave Lair...

    Other than that, I can't really think of any. I suppose it's conceivable that Happifun Security System X-4 might download piloting knowledge, but it was really designed more for local security enforcement. Backfire flies under his own power, and isn't really interested in gadgets. If Captain Americlown had an aircraft, it would have to be possible to make it look kind of silly - he really wants either a superspeed unicycle or a clown car. Frost Dragon could really use a vehicle of some sort, I guess, but it doesn't really fit his concept that well. And Skyfire (no relation) is in much the same boat as Backfire - he can fly under his own power, and doesn't see the need to have a machine that adds to this (although I could see his attitude changing if he's in an area where dogfighting has become common - lightning strikes are only so useful in downing aircraft, after all...).

    Out of my 60ish characters, I can't think of any that would use a vehicle for transportation or fighting.

    I hope you're not seriously under the impression that the prototype Hawkwing is the only vehicle that we'll be getting in-game.
    Because that would be kinda ignoring the fact that the devs have pointed out more than a few times that they've said more vehicles are coming in the fall, and that they're not all going to be jet types.
    If the jet isn't your thing, that's fine. I seriously doubt you'll be forced to use it at any point if you don't want to.
    Though don't be mad if that locks you out of doing vehicle specific content in the future. But hopefully by then, you'll have a vehicle that suits your tastes more.

    Who me? I've been scowling these forums since '08. So i do know stuff.
    The topic was/is Fighter Planes that are in PTS. Rest of the vehicles are still unknown.

    They did mention one possibility is a hover tank. That could be fun :biggrin:

    Well as for my toons,I have one soldier that can REALLY use a vehicle to really sell his concept,and my other alt who Killshot could use a vehicle,preferably a heliopter,and my PA Tech Titan has no need for a vehicle seeing as his PA suit IS his vehicle,but I can really make it work for two of them.

    Even if its just one character who would use the vehicles I would totally be okay with that. I'll be spending a lot of time customizing it and getting the right gear to suit him or her. If they take as much care to build power wise as the characters themselves, then there's plenty of time to be invested to make them perfect.

    Half of my characters having one makes sense.

    I'd say maybe 2-4 of my characters would conceivably have their own jet or vehicle. Another 3-5 might use a vehicle supplied by some organization, like PRIMUS or UNTIL. Other than that, most of my other characters would simply fly up under their own power to engage aerial threats.

    Have a PRIMUS, UNTIL, and perhaps other military patterns as options to handwave that the vehicle was provided to your character instead of them owning it.

    Now, IMO, I think they should have one of the vehicles look organic or dragon-like - with a little covered seat thingy on the back where your character would sit...

    I got 11 toons, and one of them would use vehicles.
    Not really interested in vehicles generally in the game, though many others are.

    Hmm.. off the top of my head, I can think of maybe 4 of my alts... which surprises me because I thought it was a lot fewer lol
    I say stuff and I say things, sometimes together but only when I'm feeling adventurous.

    Hmm,

    I suppose any character, even if he doesnt NEED a jet could potentially benefit from access to one. I mean after a frantic stretch of responding to UNITY emergencies, back and forth all over the world, it might be nice to relax and rest on a jet flight home.

    Besides my jet will have a cappuccino machine and a wet bar.

    This just in: Defender, Lt.Patill (the Questionite daily mission guy), and the PvP ring are being trolled by roleplayers who are parking their vehicles in a large pileup of immersion-breaking polygons!!! Other heroes can no longer talk to them to get missions!!!

    2 characters. Technically though they should be riding on capital ships in orbit, not aerospace fighters. :-)

    One probably, 5 maybe if spaceships aren't available but would swap to Rockets or Flying Saucers or Gadroon or Qular or Ro'Inesh or other space ships the instant they'd become available.

    My Vampiress swordswoman wouldn't suit any vehicle other than something mystical.

    A sleek pulp-era looking car could suit one current and several planned characters.

    But spaceships are where its at for most of my characters for sure.

    I could shoehorn vehicles into any of my character's array crime-fighting devices. I doubt I'd sell many comics though:redface:

    13 would not want a vehicle
    5 would want a motorcycle
    3 would want an airplane/jet
    2 would want a horse
    1 would want a pony
    1 would want a mini van
    and

    NOTE
    From the dev: "These are early versions of vehicles that do NOT reflect the final system." So It is a little early for any substantive evaluation.

    I would love to fly my own jet between zones instead of taking the insta-jet, but I doubt that's going to happen.

    Within a zone, I don't see a purpose for a jet. Jets are designed for long distance travel. A helicopter would be nice. I could land on top of buildings or in an intersection.

    I'd really like a motocycle (harley) for in the cities or an ATV for the outdoor areas.

    Yeah, the three become devices on PTS don't really match most of my mystical-themed characters. But I'm assuming these are just the basic prototype vehicles. I'd guess when they do the full launch they will include a mystical skin in a similar manner to how they added lemurian power armor.

    Depends on the zone, lsya. Spider-Bat's in the Desert right now, and some sort of travel method more rapid and convenient than Swinging all the way from Greenskin to Stronghold would be nice...

    I got to give you that one. The desert is pretty spread out. Monster Island perhaps as well.

    I have a few characters that could make use of a jet, even the ones that fly. A couple of them could use them, but don't really have the means character wise to possess one.

    I could see Bluey and Dark having an exciting fist-fight in a plane Uncharted 3 style. Does that count? I guess not.

    Software Pirate is probably the only one of my characters who is best suited to a vehicle that isn't a motorcycle or car. He is a captain, after all.

    There's just one problem I have with a jet TP:

    Hero in a jet: "I need to get to Canada!"

    *Said hero then flies jet to the super jet in Ren Cen*

    Errr...

    Well as long as a jet TP aren't built for far distance travel, then I guess it makes sense to have them, or if the jet itself allows for zone travel.
