Well as long as a jet TP aren't built for far distance travel, then I guess it makes sense to have them, or if the jet itself allows for zone travel.

Well same thing apply's with flight why does a hero need a jet to get to canada when he can fly?

Because it involves getting from one country to another, which can be a really, really long journey to fly there on your own travelling possibly thousands of miles, not to mention that it would be a huge expense of energy and heroes with flight don't exactly fly at supersonic speeds which I assume the Super Jet does.

A jet TP would mean that it involves usage of a vehicle for transport, and not from the effort of an innate ability, which is why it seemed silly to me seeing someone fly their vehicle to another vehicle and then use it to get to another zone, unless it's made obvious that the jet TP isn't meant for such long distance travel at all.

I can't remember which comic book supergroup it was, but I saw a scene where a "flying hero" was on the team jet with everybody else... A teammate asked him "Why are you with us? Can't you just fly there on your own?" and the response was "Yeah, but... I forgot my iPod, and 4 hours of solo flight is pretty boring."

Also, those jets look pretty small - might be a fuel issue. (Which then raises the question of how you use the jet after flying to Canada or MI, but...)

This is what kinda bugs me,we now have jets, but are forced to use the super jet,WE NOW OWN A MODE OF TRANSPORTATION,and are forced to ride the bigger, cramped, jet.Maybe if we go to the edge of the map,we can have a zone selection thing and go to a certain zone, like canada,MI,desert,Vibora, etc.

Edit to my older post, why allow the vehicle zone selection thing to vehicles?

I mean if you are a PA already you already HAVE a vehicle in the form of your PA,come to think of it,they should add TP reskins of said vehicles for those who do not use vehicles.

I have a ton of characters that would probably never use a vehicle. But my main, Rugby the Gun-toting Rhino totally would. As would my Batman homage The Night Skunk. I also have a few characters that are mutant type heroes that a vehicle would fit the theme a lot better than the current TPs.

that's one of the things that's always irked me about superhero games and travel powers. You really can't travel that far with them. Just look at COH, CO, and DCUO. Why can i not fly to canada? I can FLY! I think that they should add a rank/advantage that works like the transwarp from STO. You hit the dropdown by the minimap, hit where you want to go, and given what ever TP you set the adv on you get the different "warp out" animation.

i only have once character that would really benefit from the vehicles, but as it stands, i can see a lot more being made to work with them, specifically "Transforming" characters.

Its simply how the Gameworld is created. We don't have one big persistant World where
we can go from one zone to another, and they just created the Jet as a click point for zoning.

They could of course also have created button on the map that says : Fly to Canada with
    your Flight TP.

that's why i'dd mentioned the "warp out" like in STO. Each time you zone in space you watch your ship either warp into the spawn point or warp out from where they are. They even have it so your ship autoadjusts itself so it doesn't hit anything (usually).

In champions that would work perfectly. Flight would take off into a clear sky, running would just take of into the distance super fast, digging could literally just drop down and disappear. given the travel power or ship, they could really do some potentially cool things. All with tech that is already in the engine thanks to Star trek.

So what should happen if you use the Teleporter in Unity HQ ? Should you lift of and
break through the walls to fly into the sky ? Or is a Teleporter just fine while the Jet is not ?
So would be a Teleporter Platform instead of the Jet be better for you ?

I could probably handwave it all for most of mine as being gifts from some agency or other for services, after said hero started pestering them for some kind of payoff for helping them.
    Yes, even my Santa character.

I would like to see a difference in the weapon loadouts for the jets. Right now, they all share minigun, mini missiles, and heavy laser beam/chest beam powers. I also think they all need to be a bit larger - the "tanking" jet should be bigger than the DPS one at the very least.

    I'd like to see:

    DPS Jet:
Minigun, mini missiles, heavy tactical/cluster missile

    Medi-jet:
pulse laser, ring-style cone laser, narrow focus high-intensity cutting laser

    "Tank" jet:
rapid fire cannon, heavy cannon, mortar

Yeah .. the larger they are the more easy it is to grief. How many Jets should be needed to
block the Entrance to Caprice or the Powerhouse maybe ? But the more i think of it i really
just want to have an Enterprise D to cruise trough MC and park it before the AH Entrance

I would also create a Picard Clone as my "Superhero" then .. and hey .. he really needs that kind
of Vehicle to do his Superhero Job

I like the Strife but the other 2 look like the artist just mailed in variations of the Strife. Hardly exciting...

Given Cryptic's penchant for debuting a feature and never ever touching it again, I would rather see the first shot use Bio's Racer or even something like the Space Bucket

or Jetson's Flying Car and anything else rather than the same design rehashed. Though I expect that is out of the question. :(

At the very least do they all have to have the same downturned nose? It seems to me that should be a customization option.

I'm a little sad that they do seem to be the same thing in most regards. I understand that it's a device and it the system, as well as it will Possibley free for doing the event on release, but a little more variety would have been nice. Not just in the paint job but in the shape as well, so I'm totally in agreement.

Well it's less costumes, and more Hideouts, Adventure Packs, Comic Series, Zones, Nemesis mission lines (like, actual nemesis minions, not stuff that have your nemesis just show up), and Individual parts inside costume sets (how long have the fantasy shoulderpads been broken now, almost a year?).

Wait, I think neuraldamage might have a point. Does he have a point?

The jets don't look much different apart from the paint job,my suggestions to improve vehicle appearances:

Fast attack jet:change wings to a sleek backward look or at least make them look somewhat fight jet like

Medivac-the coloration is good, but usually hearing medivac makes me think of a helicopter,so change it to a sleek helicopter look.

Heavy fighter-first off, make it a bit bigger than the other jets, give it some heavy guns and armor, guns just being cosmetic of course, and armor also.

I imagine that these are variations on Night Hawk's ship. This ship and the new Lair aren't the entirety of the Vehicles content. When that update does happen, I'm sure you'll see new ships.

This update is about Night Hawk, so that's why we get a couple varieties of that.

But it looks more like somebody just used the "body sliders" on them. Yes, there are slight differences, and I get that they are all supposed to be inspired by Nighthawk's jet, but the differences should be a little more pronounced.

Well, they look average. And markings on these models makes no sense at all.
This red "danger" chevron with red arrow is usually painted on jet planes to indicate precisely where are danger zones for air intakes but none of these modeles have air intakes large enough for warranting such big markings - and it is misplaced, should be painted on the upper surfaces or in front of these tiny intakes placed on wing roots.
This yellow "rescue" arrow is painted on real planes to indicate where is canopy release lever, so it should be located just under the cockpit canopy, not on the plane nose.
Yeah, I know this is superhero crayola cartoonish game but it should have at least basic amount of sense. Even fictional vehicle should look functional.

Yeah, some of my toons, especially my PA toon, would only ever use a jet to carry a group,if we have vehicles, and they want it to be big,we need group vehicles.

Well, I admit that I haven't been keeping up with all the posted plans for implementing vehicles. I did log onto the PTS to see what the hype was all about. So far, in that setting, they're just weird, nich?, flying "become" devices. I believe there are plans for them to become more customized (changing out certain weapons/abilities, modifying appearance, etc), but otherwise their function parallels other "become" toys.

So does it make sense that your character could "become" a genie? A ghost? Black Talon? If so, use those devices. Does your character concept have access to a fighter jet? Is he a transforming robot? Anything like that? The go for it.

What will be more interesting is what happens when they create specific scenarios (er, um... quickie boss battle "alerts"?) that are vehicle focused. I guess it's kind of like everyone hopping in a giant robot at the end of Resistance. Is that something your character would do? Then play through those scenarios. If not, there's plenty of other things to do in Champions Online.

Personally, I see vehicles as either a nich? addition to the game (i.e., they're needed to experience certain missions) or a general nuissance (my characters are more than capable of flying in and wiping out an enemy in Millennium City without having to use a "become" device of some sort that creates a more limited set of abilities). But your mileage may vary.

Aw, heck... I'm writing this before they're even released. So who knows?

I had thought (or maybe hoped) that the training rooms we were superposed to get were like the combat/training rooms at the power house. You know, where you can fight hologram versions of certain groups like PSI, DEMON, VIPER, purple gang, etc.(and my wish hopefully foes like Grond, Viperia, etc).

Let's play a game. Most of us/you know about the vehicles now in PTS.
How many of your characters actually have use for a fighter plane? Out of my 43 alts, only 9 would/could use a jetfighter. Or can turn into a one....
EDIT* Let's make a little sense of using one, just a tiny bit.
EDIT2*No, this isn't about being negative against vehicles.

What's on the PTS is a preview/alpha test of the concept they have going. However, the final result is supposed to be highly configurable, similar to Star Trek Online's ships.

What's more, you say you have 43 alts and only 9 of them can make use of it thematically speaking. You realize that's basically 21% of your characters, right? It's just over 1 out of 5. Even then, who cares? I don't see people complaining that only a small fraction of their characters can thematically make use of the new stealth and throwing weapon powers, or any new powers that came out.

Seriously, I'm one of the grumpiest people on the forums and this seems like a frivolous criticism, even to me...

Was i complaining? Not that i recall.
Thanks for counting the %, i suck in math.
Who cares? You seem to. Thanks for the effort thou, but i'm fine.
    I didn't ask who cares.
I didn't say about those jets being final product. It was about which of peoples character would use a fighter jet. Very simple. Nothing too complicated.
You being grumpy? Come on. Your avatar is so misleading.
And yes, you criticism was frivolous.
