I can agree with giving all vet rewards to an account the moment it becomes a lifetime account, it's not about how long you've played it's about how much money you've given them. They are incentives to not cancel for a month or two when you want to take a break. Once you have a LTS then that's it, you've made the ultimate commitment and there's no reason not to get the whole goody bag.
Though personally I think all the vet rewards should be on the store, and the reward of getting them for "free" should be good enough. I am never going to buy a LTS, and I'm never going to let my sub continue while not playing, so I likely will never get anywhere near the 1000 day mark. If they offered some of the rewards on the store though I would buy them (even at double price), which is the only way for PWE to get any money off of them from people like me. More money for the company means more money for new content right? It's not like people with a LTS can cancel in anger right?
They are only called veteran rewards to make you feel better about yourself. Look at the system, it is obviously 100% about making more money from subs by getting people to pay even when they aren't playing.
Veteran Rewards are for long-time supporters of the game. The key word there being "time".
I know a lot of kids feel entitled to having everything they want with no effort, but put on your big boy pants and try to understand that's not always how things work.

I would agree if more of them contained something to look forward to.
I am more inclined to think that they are something that Cryptic felt pressured into adding because their last game had them (and a significant/vocal portion of the player base came over from that game and made it clear that such were expected).
If they were an integral, planned, part of the game's marketing/player retention model I would expect that they would not have been quite so haphazardly implemented.

is "effort" for you ? Cause the only real "effort" that is needed is simply to WAIT 3 years.

Honestly, none of that looks like incentive-worthy stuff to me. I thought about the Q refine limit for a second, but then realised that Lifers, like Gold players, have as many alts as they can possibly want, so they have no real effective refine limit as it is.
If it were up to me, I'd make part of the 1k days vet reward the removal of the daily refine limit. That way, they can still refine as much Q as they already can, but they'd be allowed to keep playing whichever character they felt like playing, instead of cycling through all the alts like it was a job.

I was Dubsy on the Old Forums. I am still @Dubsy in-game. Also, lol.
If they were called, "I paid up front rewards," I would agree with lifers getting them immediately.
But they are not.
They are veteran rewards.
Someone who joined the game last week and buys an LTS tomorrow is not a veteran.
I agree in a technical sense. However, in principle, someone who just bought LTS spent more on the LTS than people like me who bought the LTS before the game came out. What's more, us buying LTS back then meant that we believed the game could bring us enjoyment for at least the 13 minutes it would take to pay itself off at a monthly subscription rate. People who buy it now are saying that "after the game has been out for nearly 3 years already, I'm confident the game will continue to survive and bring me enjoyment for over another year and a half."
So it takes more of a leap of faith to buy lifetime now than it did before. I'm sitting here reaping the rewards and thinking "I'm getting these vet rewards for free and no effort on my part. I get them whether or not I spend money or participate in the questionite exchange. Other people want them too. I know what that's like from other games. And the more recent lifetimers have actually shown more up-front faith in the game than even I did. They should be able to reap the benefits too."
Besides, it's not like they have an incentive to continue subscribing. There's no money to be gained by withholding the vet rewards from recent lifetimers. No money to be lost by giving them to all lifetimers. The incentive to stay in the game is the same as it is for us old-school lifetimers.
As a lifetimer who's been here since closed beta, and as a pragmatist, I have no problem with giving all lifetimers access to all vet rewards, regardless of the date the lifetime subscription was purchased at.

I am not really opposed to giving Lifers the veteran rewards up front. Ultimately they are going to get them if the game lasts long enough. I just don't think that waiting for the rewards, as advertised from the very beginning, is something to complain about or to hold against the company.
Oddly enough I felt that it was a bigger leap of faith back in Aug of '09. But that is something that is likely to be different for everyone.

Well, I'm looking at it from a perspective of odds. As a game gets older, it loses much of its appeal. Eventually dwindling down to the point there are mergers between servers/shards. The only servers we have are test and live. So instead of a server merge, they'd basically just shut the game down.
So from an odds perspective a fresh, brand new game is more likely to last longer than 13 months than a 3 year old game will last another 20 months. The more time goes by, the more of a leap of faith the lifetime purchase becomes because the game gets older and older, and more and more of the world has tried it and moved on.

Ahh, good points.
For me it was a matter of disliking Cryptic's previous game. I took the plunge largely because I love the IP, and because, even if COH was not to my taste, a friend was involved in the closed beta and assured me that CO was not like COH. Still it felt like a significant risk. Purely subjective on my part.
About this, i've been a lifetime member for about 300 days so far, and yeah as many other i would like to have right ahead the veteran rewards, but i can also understand why this is not gonna happen, player speaking not money speaking, veteran rewards are interesting but nowadays are more "uncommon" things you see around, uncommon because just a few players have reached more than 500 ( Therakiel's AF ) day veteran reward, will be highly unrespectful to those people who spent around 3 years hanging around this game, with all the thing it lacks and what soever, because they liked it.
Unrespectful because their time in game their efforts around ( from little to big that they are doesn't matter ) would be worth nothing.
On the other hand, i must say veteran rewards should not be given to people that bought lifetime 3 years ago and logged twice, this is the thing that makes no sense, that way is just a fight to whoever have the "bigger wallet".
But anyway, my suggestion in this matter, can be if people really wants those rewards costumes and other things, cryptyc, pwe or whatever should make a system to assign veteran rewards before time, but giving some unique thing to who actually EARN them, this way will partially compensate the give-away of the rewards and "solve" this discussion about veteran rewards. ( We don't have to forget that who subscribed 900 days with monthly payment does enjoy the game, didn't subscribe just for the veteran rewards, so even if 1000 days is the end of them, i'm pretty sure they'll keep subscribing. )
This is excactly how things work. With enough Money you can get everything.
If someone is renting 2-3 times per year a ferrari is he more a ferrari fan than someone who own a ferrari?
I dont think so.
no, but the one who bought it did save the money to buy it while the renter has payed less for it, the buyer also has nothing stopping him from changing the Ferrari, the renter has to keep it in the state it's rented.
Well I hope the vet rewards get better by the time I hit 1000 days. Cryptic you got like 600 days to get ur ship in order before my rage that you will ultimately pay no heed to what so ever will commence .

I'm really not jazzed one way or the other - thus, I don't have any specific complaints about people purchasing an LTS getting rewards that they will, presumably, get anyway if the game stays up long enough for them to benefit from it.
I can see some reasoning against, however, but frankly there's not enough emotional investment in the matter for me to argue for devil's advocate either way.
Veteran Rewards are for long-time supporters of the game. The key word there being "time".
I know a lot of kids feel entitled to having everything they want with no effort, but put on your big boy pants and try to understand that's not always how things work.
Yet if they were called "Incentive Rewards" then there would be no problem with both new LTS and your sense of semantics being satisfied?
Given the current state of the game, wouldn't anything that got people to plunk down $300USD be a good thing?
Try to see the big picture rather than they're getting what I've already got.
I have to side with those folks who say Lifetime accounts should unlock all vet rewards when purchased.
Those people who bought an LTS three years before me have gotten three years more entertainment out of the game than I have. What happens if they shut the game down in six months? In that six months I want to at least be able to fly around with my Bird character and his Millinium flight for all that money I just plunked down (and all the extra money I spent on goodies like Become Devices, etc)

Semantics or original intentions of the particular rewards aside, I am not convinced that just because some people want them without having to wait, that it is necessarily better "in the big picture".
Most likely if you (using "you" in the general sense) got them all immediately, without any anticipation, they would not be as valuable to you and not provide the incentive of "something shiny to look forward to". In addition to just the $300, they need a critical mass of people actually around and active in the game.
Also, if they decided to give all the rewards at once with a lifetime subscription, one could probably wonder if that were an indication that they didn't expect the game to still be around for 1000 days.
I don't really care what Cryptic decides to do with the rewards, but expect it will be based on an actual business case rather than just a player's case of the "I WANTS".

Hmm.... Let me say it would be nice to get up to the 1000 day reward instantly, but that I realize it entirely defeats the purpose of achivements/perks and the related goodies that exclusively identify you as a long-time veteran.
This particular debate isn't a priority, and I'm kind of on the fence here since I can see both arguements have their point. This is a very low priority topic, content (particularly new map/environment or campaign content), bugs & glitches, not enough players playing this game, region bans (arguably a violation of human rights), lag issues with queues and servers, and the broken chat ignore/report auto-ban "feature" are priorities. This topic isn't important at all next to those!
If I must choose however, I don't feel this should change from what it currently is. There are plenty of other website communities with veteran rewards that are based on time. The only issue here are in the costume unlocks, but so what? Stop whining about what you haven't gotten yet and just have some fun! If you're bored, go out in the world and make some money, excercise, or just do something else. Sometimes it's a good thing to take a break for a bit. Plus if you have money to spend when you come back, you can choose to get some stuff (or wave it like a carrot in front of the developers when you're asking for new content)
In my opinion let there be achievements for people who have spent $250, $500, and $1000 (or more) on this game. Each threshold give those players access to a unique title that they can choose to display as well as priority access to any zone (even if it's full, it'll boot the last non-paying player to connect out to make room for them).
I have not spent $500 or more on this game so yes I'd be ok with the two above tiers.
This would be a great compromise and allow people to show their pride (read more about being glad to be here than gimme-gimme-now attitudes) for either/both people who have financially supported the game and/or have been with the game for a long time.
it's the 1000 days reward. The 100 day reward earns the title Stalwart and since we don't have the new title, I think it's pretty safe to say that it's a typo.
So paying money should make you a veteran? Do you see how that doesn't make sense for time-sensitive rewards?
Actually it makes perfect sense.
In Rift, and a few other games, veteran rewards are given when the time is paid for rather than when it has elapsed. If you paid for the time then you will get that time unless the game shuts down regardless of if you play it or not. It makes even more sense for someone with an LTS. How can they NOT accrue the time unless the game is shutdown. Just give them their stuff when they pay for it so they actually have the time to enjoy it. There are no guarantees this game will be around for another 1000 days.

Another good point.
I think that my own opinion on the matter has shifted in the face of some of the arguments in favor of instant access to veteran benefits for LTSers.
Of course that means I must now demand my 1,100 -20,000 day vet rewards.

Maybe if ask Cryptic ever comes back I'll ask about this.
PVP is starving without rewards
1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.
The logic is. in my opinion, completely valid. The company wants money, so they reward people for staying subbed for a given amount of time (paying each month and such). I paid for a subscription for the lifetime of the game, dropped the cash up front. It's inevitable that a LTS would get that stuff given that the game remains open. Why should I have to wait another 400 days of a sub I already paid for?
Also, does anybody have Milennial Flight yet and posted a video of it? I'd love to see it, even though it's just a tease of something I cannot have yet.
Speaking as a player that purchased his LTS 456 days ago, I have to agree with those who think "Veteran Rewards" ought to be considered "Subscriber Rewards." Therefore all available sub rewards, should immediately unlock upon LTS purchase, with any new additions to the reward system being awarded upon addition to the game.
When XP earnings during a Double-XP Weekend still feel like I'm underperforming,
there's something terribly wrong with the reward system...

Gotta say, makes perfect sense to me to unlock automatically for LTS.
If I got LTS tomorrow, I'd be waiting over 2 years to get Millenial Flight.
1. The game may not be here 2 years from now. I hope it is, but it is entirely possible it won't be.
2. It's not like an LTS wouldn't eventually reach the 1000 day mark anyhow, it's pretty much a given unless the game is shut down.
3. Also calling them veteran rewards is a bit of a misnomer anyhow. They are subscriber rewards, for paying subscribers, not necessarily for veterans of the game as it's entirely possible to have been around for quite a while without paying a dime. The rewards are for subscribers as they should be, and as stated elsewhere, LTS aren't going to unsubscribe.
(no, I'm not getting LTS tomorrow. It's gonna be months before I can. Meanwhile I'll get by with the rewards I've gotten so far, should be at 200 in little bit. )
They are subscriber rewards, for paying subscribers, not necessarily for veterans of the game as it's entirely possible to have been around for quite a while without paying a dime.
To be fair, they were created at a time when it was not possible to, "be around...without paying a dime."
I heard some zone chat about the 1000 day travel power.
The question where do I get it was raised which brought forth a number of answers including my favourite:

I kind of agree with both sides of the issue here. Yes, those are things we (less than 1000 days veterans) want. But yes, those are also things for long-time vets. But amongst you rewards, long-time vets, aren't there quite a few you'd have enjoyed buying ? Like, say, birdman parts ? Or glowing tights ? I personally think that birdman costume pieces should be a reward not for lifetimers or veterans but for all gold players. The glowing tights are fine as a veteran reward, but one that comes far earlier, at 500 days. Really, once you get to 400 days, you don't get anything REALLY interesting 'till you get 500 more days.
This is excactly how things work. With enough Money you can get everything.

Given the current state of the game, wouldn't anything that got people to plunk down $300USD be a good thing?
Try to see the big picture rather than they're getting what I've already got.
People are broken. - Lum the Mad

There's always that possibility of a shut down, but I really doubt that will happen soon.

As an 1000(+) day veteran monthly subscriber, I say let a player get all the veterans rewards as soon as they buy an LTS.
Consider, a Silver who's been playing the game for 600 days straight, can't get the reward. If they started a subscription, it would start at 1.
The Veterans Reward has nothing to do with actual game play time.
The reward is tied to financial support of the game and an LTS has paid that retroactively.

Meanwhile I'll get by with the rewards I've gotten so far, should be at 200 in little bit. )
To be fair, they were created at a time when it was not possible to, "be around...without paying a dime."

Yeah .. another TP for blind players
Really? Money can probably get you into a great school, maybe bribe teachers for great grades, and maybe bribe the institution for the diploma, but you're not really getting an education by not attending class and learning something.
Are players who played the game without subbing but still put money into the game NOT supporters?
