Okay, hold up a second...I’ve seen( and generally am a bit tired of seeing for the reason I’ll list below) people making ‘X and Y suggestion’ only to be hit with ‘blah blah the budget this or blah blah limit that’.

    Two things:

1.) You don’t know the budget, you don’t work at Cryptic. Stop using this as a flimsy excuse. Unless you can show me their P&L statements or have it on good authority( i.e you work as or know personally the financial analyst who is over the budget for this game), I will assume what you are saying is flimsy at best, BS at worst.

2.) So...given that this engine is uh...allegedly more advanced than CoH’s engine, and these same limits were set in place for CoH yet they overcame them to the best of their ability, how is it that CO can’t get X and Y powers or what have you based on such a “limited” engine? (Hint: those “limited” engine excuses were used for player created powers and colorization of powers in CoH too yet it happened.)

I say this because these aren’t acceptable answers anymore for suggestions, and if somehow they become so, then why do y’all keep making them, if you know due to the aforementioned reasons they won’t happen? It’s like pining over someone knowing you won’t ever get with them. At least, it appears so to me.

Overall I like the suggestions it’s the excuses im sick of

Too many people have champagne tastes but Cryptic Studios is running Champions Online with a cheap beer budget... has been this way for many years now.

The problem is many coding like lets say hideouts were a "side project" and the devs that worked on it moved to Neverwinter or Star Trek. Those are always the excuses we keep hearing while the others that do work like Kael as writer yet not knows a lot of the in game characters shows how limited all is.

The owners are the problem, the players excuses not will change anything regardless how true or false they are, I can not see why people even try to excuse something for a developer or publishes they clearly have no saying in.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game but also have gripes with it. But what can we do besides voting with our wallets, and even that is risky since it might change things, yes, but can also lead to it being closed if PWE decides so.

Well, This thread has certainly been a rollercoaster of emotions. My favorite hated excuse is 'sPhAgEtTi CoDiNg' whatever that means. Lol... OR 'Baaah! The older devs threw the instructions away.' 🤷‍♂️... which not even so unbelievable when I start to think of cybernetic warrior costume. Where has it gone?!?

The only thing this game has ever had is the ability to design amazing characters and costumes, two things that are capped BTW, you can't make more than 125 characters and can't have more than 44 costumes, but the actual game play has always been pretty trash. If I had control over CO I'd move it more towards a social game, more RP areas, more emotes, add items and areas people can interact with, give us an item that allows us to sync up dance moves, etc. There's lots of ways you can get players to do things together without trying to force them to work together in missions,

I like to imagine CO as a post apocalyptic wasteland where animals has taken control of the earth. For one, we dont have real cars. Two, useage of zone is limited and often static with the absence of events. I would move CO to a more flash aspect like an amine MMO. It's already set in a futuristic building style so no way anyone can imagine it to be real life. We like big weapons big hair big power FX. I'd make everything bigger. I'd just reskin the map to a fantasy MMO!

We've already talked about some ways to make old npc mobs in zone more appealing. Even by introducing new factions. Throwing new mobs on top building in DT and adding new questlines for them. Zones like VB that has to much of the same mobs need to be studied redispersed and cram in some new stuff.

Heck, What if a mad man opened a hotel on monster island. Pop in a few NPCs in swimsuits. The game seems to lack a beach front. I must be the only one bothered by the giant dock area along the entirety of MC's coast.

This is true, but equally, why should we expect that they are rolling in money and are hoarding it away from development to some other purpose? All we actually have to go on is the glacial pace of development, and to my mind a lack of funds to pay the staff necessary for quicker and fuller development seems a better explanation than anything else I can think of.

I want to actually see more magic, and maybe some medieval fantasy elements. Elves of some sort would be fantastic. And NO more nerfs. I've almost completely stopped playing because I'm tired of my **** getting nerfed.

The thing is, more magic, medieval fantasy, elves, there are already tons of games based on that. The niche Champions Online is supposed to occupy is superheroes. If it's just watered-down fantasy, it can't compete with games built around that genre. What sets supers apart is that, while it is its own genre with its own conventions, it borrows and blends elements from every other genre. Urban fantasy, space opera, horror, military action, mythology, political conspiracy, cyberpunk, kaiju, film noir... it can be anything and everything.

Look at the villain team, the Brain Trust, that's already appeared piecemeal in CO. You have a mutated intelligent gorilla, a zombie, a catgirl, a mystic ninja, and a telepathic disembodied brain. A group like that can only exist in a comic-book world.

Focusing on magic diminishes the range of experiences the genre can offer. It's not like Cryptic hasn't already introduced aliens, robots and cyborgs, mad scientists, giant monsters, radioactive mutants, sasquatches, a space station, and a gladiatorial arena on the freakin' Moon. Many current environments could be repurposed for new content. Existing power sets and costume pieces would easily let the devs build a swarm of NPCs from the setting's official roster. IMHO it's not simply lack of resources, but lack of awareness of what the setting has to offer, and maybe lack of imagination.

I'd also like to mention one other asset in the Champions IP. When the current official setting was rebooted for the Fifth Edition of the Hero System, the PnP game engine (most recent edition is Sixth, but otherwise the setting is mostly unchanged), the write-ups for every superhero, supervillain and villain group, included three "plot seeds," short scenario suggestions that a Game Master could expand into a full adventure. There are literally hundreds of story ideas waiting to be taken up.

I can't say I've ever liked the gameplay, all the way back in the early days of F2P, when I joined, I wasn't that interested in the actual game play so much as the character designer. The main thing that keeps me playing now is the friends I've made in the game. My favorite part of the game is locked off now, everything I enjoyed is now impossible for me to continue doing, and adding more missions to the game isn't going to keep me playing. The only thing I got now is the social aspect of the game so that's where I'd like to see improvements at this point.

It doesn't take special insight to realize that a game with an average number online in the hundreds does not have a huge budget.

It took a specialist to make your budget so hrm... now anyway on to more serious matters, what does the last bit of my post say? Oh yeah. Why would yall waste time with this thread then? And again, you’d be surpeised what you could get done with an average player count( assuming yall have that). So again, point 1 stands and if you think it doesnt, see my ending statements. It does take a specialist, you are not it. 😊

Hrm, well the trick is having reasonable expectations for what we ask for based on past experience in how the game development has progressed thus far vs. moon dreams. For example, some people want entire new power sets and entire new zones. Based on past experience that isn't likely to happen. Revamps and additions to existing powers and sets and new mission arcs (e.g. Serene Abyss et al) and new events in existing zones (e.g. Snake Gulch) are what we have seen of late. I was actually quite surprised that we even got the smallish QWZ, and that was some years ago now.

    H. Buff Primal Majesty team stat bonuses to make the support more sought after in terms of other players group stat boosting.

What? Do you even play this game? AoPM is the most overused passive in the game...

QWZ, of course, was mostly reused assets. The map itself came from Daemonflame. The enemy models all existed elsewhere. They created a couple of terrain pieces, populated the map, hooked up the missions, and done.

I want rewards that can be farmed by doing QWZ dailies. Don't even care if it takes 1000 completions, just would be nice to have something that you get by doing that zone's daily quests specifically.

The ability to save costumes on default models. Then apply to existing characters. For example, Loading these costumes will not effect body sliders, hair or skin etc. It would be useful to quick load something like s uniform or multiple charaters and save time.

No I mean something you can get either with the currency specific to the zone, or something that unlocks after X completions of QWZ dailies.

I just recently returned after 7 years away from CO, and I'm having so much fun farming Cosmics and remaking my old toons at the moment, but I miss pvp... I would like better rewards for pvp. I remember farming acclaim to buy sniper rifles for my SG friends so we could snipe Cosmics when that was a thing; it was fun and gave me a reason to pvp. When I left the game, there was only about 1-2 teams farming Cosmics because the rewards only dropped for the top score team/toon, there were no timers and only Tele had a decent drop. But now that Cosmics give out better rewards and not to just the top score, there's tons of people farming them. Do something similar to pvp.

Better rewards for MOST EVERYTHING that has lackluster rewards. There are actually a ton of missions and content already in the game and the various maps. It's just there is no incentive for people to do them other than when it suits their fancy. Nobody does actual PVP because there's nothing in the Acclaim store worth the hassle getting. The luchador costumes are nice, but the costs are ridiculous.

And doing something with Super Groups. STO and NW have development tasks for Groups to do. The system is there. Just not being used in CO.

first, my selfish request... i need a hex aura that only displays on my left hand. can you make that happen?

and then... a new tier of character. something between AT and FF. do like CoH did and give players the ability to select powers from 2 powersets and 2 powersets only. you could sell them on the zstore for 10 bucks or even give them away as event rewards.

Honestly, I have yet to still make it 100% through the wealth of content this game already has. But what I would want is small quality of life changes. Like the ability to store questionite in your account safe, or the ability to store recognition in your account safe. Which would be great. Especially when a certain class is needed at cosmics but you aren't necessarily trying to grind up recognition on that character. Helps fill those roles without feeling regret for being there on a character you're not necessarily working on. Small bug fixes like needing to use the lootcancel function so much when your bags overflow. Little small quality of life changes like that can go a long way for this game. Also nemcon is practically never run on a regular basis. I wish the queue for it was public considering the content in it isn't difficult enough to need a specialized group.

Considering we already have sonic as a damage type, I think it's criminal that there isn't a proper powerset

Unpopular opinion as this may be but i really think they need to just remake both CO AND STO.

Just rebuild them from the ground up and replace the existing games once they're done. This way, they're set to be strong for the next ten+ years, it will let them address engine issues since that's a constant problem in both games, it would let them build for next gen and beyond.

They OWN the rights to Champions, so with Daybreak having both Marvel *AND* DC mmo's, this game is in serious danger. I know Gearbox doesn't OWN Cryptic but it IS getting control over it, and Given gearbox's poor reputation, i can easily see them shutting this game down. It's not Borderlands, and that's all Gearbox can seem to do.

STO will always have players, since Star Trek will always sell but even there, the engine is problematic and very broken. They're clearly working on a small team already and most devs are pulling double duty in different roles. It just seems that with with CBS pushing Star Trek so much and a Marvel based MMO in the pipeline, Cryptic is going to really need to do something drastic with CO. Otherwise, i can really see Gearbox just shutting it down.

A bigger team and a better engine would do wonders for both games, i just hope they continue to honor the LTS, as a thank you for loyalty to the game.

Since that will never happen, i'm just going to have to say "New Power sets, New powers for existing sets, and more customization options". Maybe a better way to consolidate currencies, preferably across all characters on the account.

There's a lot of ways they can improve this game but i really think it would be best just to rebuild it from the ground up, since it's clearly not in the best of states.

I speak for everyone when I say at this year 2022 we want to not say bye bye to all our characters, time and money. No other game will allow me to make this much characters. Though nothing was said of sunset I don't just lose a few toons I lose the entire Rave Cinematic Universe. That would hit me like destroying my horcruxs.

Did they ever mention on the forums or anywhere else that they were aware of it, or did they ever actually discuss it internally or make changes to anything in the game based on the feedback they received?

Have the developers of this game ever listened to the users' suggestions for improvements or requests? Did they ever mention on the forums or anywhere else that they were aware of it, or did they ever actually discuss it internally or make changes to anything in the game based on the feedback they received?
I'm not being sarcastic, this is a serious question.

Rarely. That's why Suggetions should be renamed to Wishful Thinking or better, Forelorn Hopes

So when we see a wall of text of well thought out "I wish the Devs would do this", many of us just sigh. We know the miniscule Dev team will work on some things. But, rarely any of the things most of us would like to see. And, why I practically never start a Suggestion thread.

    The short answer is yes.

Most recently, they discussed in a live chat that the Ladyhawk storyline was based (in part) on player feedback and theories. I've definitely seen costume suggestions work their way into the game, though the Devs don't seem to comment on those. Making the super magnifier devices into auras was a long standing player request. Even though they don't have the resources to make all new power sets at this time, Whirlpool and Torrent were clearly added to put some long asked for water power in. More challenging endgame content requests led to several revamps of old team content that could easily be soloed. Costume changes/transformations were a long time request. Unbinding auras from powers was requested and led to the plethora of aura options we now have. The list goes on if you've been around awhile.

For 250$ i want our devs to be more communicative about what is being done and what is planned next
in the game... i also want fixed to old bugs and broken crafting system.

Champions Online is the most expensive mmo on the market and we get NOTHING in terms of communication.
