Who hates the haters?

Presenting the reference firstly

Now to the point, I recently got harassed by some person trough some stuff I uploaded on Steam, things like "delete this" "delete your account" or even "furries took over this game" and so on...

now I already blocked and reported him so no problem on that, but my worry lays on "why some people with these tastes gets so much hate?" it can be applied to everything and every community like stuff, its like "omg I don't like this then everyone should hate it", its like a paranoia and things can get a bit out of hands from there, because we see stereotypes everywhere we asume stuff that we don't have to and these kind of things are the ones that end up driving away people, well at least for me.

Don't think that I'm here crying because of a edgy random person just trolled me hard or something, dammit I play LoL and I see this behavior in a daily basis, but this was one of the reasons why I entered on this game in the first place, community was actually nice and good, and it's probably still good, but man if you get like 1000 hugs in a day and then just 1 slap in the face between all of those, which one would you remember the more?

Thanks for reading, and remember, be nice, and you will get that back

Well, I think the way people wind up hating things is that they start out not being interested in them, but then those things turn out to be hard to ignore. I went through the same thing with sports and several bands.

You won't figure it out looking at it like that. That's almost implied "blaming the victim" (yes, I know you didn't mean it like that) That kind of "hater" isn't genuine, it's a troll. They're just looking for a target to get a reaction from ("Haw! Haw! I showed them!").

Close minded conformists got nothing else better to do, I've had someone complain about my colours before, didn't get an explanation they simply ignored tells, I got the impression "Oh he's different, quick scrutinize!" so whatever.
Want to get to know me a bit better, Click me and take a read of My Dragon Profile Page, it's a bit dated but still relevant.

I take this quote from a review that I agree with.

"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."

It's because they don't try to understand. I had a good convo with a fellow player on why lots of players play as beasts. Told them various reasons and they understood the reason more or less.

However, the majority frequently likes to join the hate wagon because it us easier for them. They think it'll make them "cool".

People will always make fun and treat as a punching bag a Group of people with different interests they don't understand or they are using them as Scapegoat to blame them for anything wrong (Steam Review: The game was fun but Furries Ruined it 10/10)

This is the Human Nature, to be a @hole to things they cannot understand

I had been treated many times as unwelcomed because I like to play with my Anthro characters (despite the fact I have plenty of non-animal characters and im NOT a Roleplayer) and the fact that I DARE to play a "Superhero" MMO but not making any superhero

Meanwhile I have met Civilized people who are not interested in the whole concept of cartoon anthro animals but despite that they understand the appeal of it but don't insult you for it

Every group gets it. RPers get it, Costume Contest goers get it, Classic Superhero fans get it, Clone Makers get it, PvPers get it, PvEers get it, those who like to make Cutesy Kid toons get it.

I've had it on both British themed and US themed toons too.

The issue isn't really about why they're against "Furries", by why they are against....full stop.

Luckily the nicer reactions are more prevalent in CO.

some people can never win...because someones always got to hate or cause trouble for others...

Most of my toons are cats, i often get called a furry...and it takes the fun out of it, when people see something awkward that was supposed to be funny. I dont identify as my toons, they are just fun to play.

a couple of my toons are female, which for some reason causes other players to flirt as if that was really me...again I am not my toons nor do identify as them. My healer is my main with all 7's, so i use her most often for teaming and events....and troll with devices :P

I make outfits for CC's (...but never won...probably never will ^^; ) but its the best part of the game showing off what outfits i made, especially the cat versions of comic heroes. I just wish i could be allowed to be more precise when making human comic costumes, i may actually win a CC!!

It can be hard sometimes, especially when someone is dedicated to pushing your buttons hoping to get a negative reaction to match their own inner misery....but those who lack the love for their fellow man, just need it that much more from those they torment. They dont make it easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. I freed a deer caught in a barbed wire fence a few years back, it could have just as easily torn open my wrists and torn open its middle from its panicky need to escape, but with enough applied care and steering him according to how you knew he would react, I was able to free it from its captivity that would eventually lead to a tragic death and neither of us walked away hurt afterwards.

I've found the best way to deal with the haters is to laugh at them or ignore them.
I don't hate the haters, that would require too much effort on my part and they are not worth it.

This reminds me of one case of hating/trolling i had to deal with, back in the days when i was an active Star Wars RPer on Second Life.

The Star Wars universe had always been a source of fascination for me, and with Second Life's possibilities, you really had the occasion to roleplay as any species you desired. So at some point, i had decided to create a Chistori character (The Chistori being a species of tyrannosaurus-lookalike humanoids in Star Wars), using a canonically-accurate mesh avatar created by another player.

Now, another aspect of the SWRP community on SL is that it is notoriously toxic, and a haven for trolls of all kind who love nothing as much as creating OOC drama for the sake of it. Needless to say, it wasn't long before one of these guys came up to me and called me a "frigging dinosaur"...

I didn't get mad. I had no reason to, since i was playing a canon species AND using a canonically-accurate, community-approved avatar. Since that guy's critics had no solid back-up beyond obvious trolling, i came to stand in front of him, laughed, and replied : "10/10 on your visual acuity, bro. And in a couple hours, you will see me featured in 'Barney & Friends'. So stay tuned for songs and fun !"

The guy never responded and logged off...

Maybe sometimes people perceived as haters are actually freespirits who get misinterpreted by most. And honestly I hate noone would mean I need to care about you on a personal level to establish the ideal of hatred. And honestly randoms on the internet who I will most likely never meet face to face. Mean very little to me alas.

Well, most of the time, though, one can tell the difference between people harmlessly stating a divergence of opinion, and blatant griefing with the intent of causing moral humiliation. This, in part because many self-proclaimed trolls aren't, in truth, as clever and subtle as they claim to be... And on metaverses such as SL, the second tendency can sometimes manifest into rather extreme ways (rezzing of visually offensive objects, aggressive particle-spamming that will eventually cause your viewver to CTD, attack on entire sims with scripted griefer tools, etc...) that are clearly employed with a malignant/disruptive goal in mind.

Of course, now, i also know there are certain people who are just so paranoid and touchy about their characters and beliefs, that simply shooting them with a fun cannon or popping an harmless disco ball over their head will trigger a clearly disproportionate response...

I've dealt with a level of antigay hate in online games, which has slowly declined from outright slurs to largely clueless comments over the past 10 years. Some were definitely trolls, who wanted to make people angry/upset, but there are definitely folks that felt I didn't belong in "their" thing and wanted to keep the game community free from people that would call them out on their bs.

For furries it's generally because it's very easy to equate "having an attraction for anthropomorphized animal people" as "beastiality". Like "really? ...so you wanna be doing the horizontal shuffle and have a dog head looking back at you?" ...which I mean let's be honest, some people in the furry fandom would actually give a straight yes as a response to that...the idea of my dog's head on a fit human body is a turn on to them. And I think that tends to be what people outside that particular sub culture with little to no exposure to it think of when presented with the topic - they don't think of those people who grew up with Lola Bunny and whose fantasies involve a significantly more cartoony aesthetic, though of course even that to some is a little too close to beastiality.

Quite often that's the reason you see folks react with disgust, because for all they know it's something disgusting - and even once you show them more and educate them about what it's really about, all you've done is confirm to them that it's something disgusting. So, that'd be why it gets hate - because there are people who think it's disgusting because they essentially see veiled beastiality ( and it's really hard to convince them otherwise a lot of the time because... well... the thing has an animal head, a tail, paws, and is covered in fur... ). Then there's some people who will be totally okay with it once you show them around and show them that nobody is trying to bang raccoons or anything like that.

Of course me personally I support their right to hate. If they think it's disgusting then they're allowed to say that with as much urine and vinegar as they feel is appropriate - after all, I don't censor myself to make sure that people who are doing things I find revolting don't feel bad. So long as they're not going around beating people up I think that's just fine.

I think the biggest fear of parents is how graphic are the games they play, places like club caprice should remain a place to contain the...rp. And the open world should be for just playing so kids arent excluded from the fun. But with the powerful push to enforce that community (speaking mostly of sto) gamers have to walk on eggshells around each other or get shouted down for being (insert phobe) these days. Its the moral voice thats often told you have no place here, "language people, kids play this game too" "shut up Cat your not my mother!" Unleashed we loose our sense of discipline and accommodate ourselves selfishly not thinking of those around us, the internet has created a lot of monsters.

Even lately people who i used to laugh with have been ignoring me for my lifestyle (Christian) while others act like im disgusting for choosing that path...but I tell you im the same guy you laughed and teamed with before, has hatred gotten so bad that the mere mention of ones life should make you turn prejudice, turning your smiles into snears at the ones you called buddy moments ago? That would seem more like guilt, you act like im going to condemn you like you have me, but I have always offered my friendship and patience (not approval) of people who live contrary to morals. Im not your judge, nor have I turned a back on anyone, even those who mistreat me and tell me not to talk to them anymore can still walk up to me at any time and ask for help, questions or just share a joke or even hit me with a troll device....I havent changed, why have you guys??

    EDIT: ...as for preaching, I dont share unless im asked in game. Even my speech about Intelligent Design was posted nearly a week ahead of time so people who did or didnt want to hear it would know it when to expect it. It was done in an RP format at (SFA) STO players arent as bad as the SWTOR crowd but they are the reason im so nervous about it, (once bitten twice shy) X6 years ^^;

From a psychological standpoint, insecure people like to tear down those they see as "lesser" in attempt to make themselves feel better. Most people do this at some point in their lives without realizing it, but those who do it consistently and with extreme malice are a special, tragic breed.

They are easy to spot, when the conversation begins to drift away from their favor, or told they are wrong, or hear something they cant counter.....they begin to foam at the mouth with anger and profanity, threaten, yell, break things, attack people. A total break down of their mental stability, and they revert to a primal state of mind. This is why when you begin to make sense and they have nothing to counter your position, they begin to call names, invent slurs/trends of defamation, tell others to shut up and go away, toss a table..lol. This is what a narcissist's mind suffers its not about being cool so much as placing themsleves up to high on a pedestal that they cant afford socially to accept being wrong, they cant handle being upstaged, even if the person is just telling the truth. (Jezebel Spirit!!!!)

I've made the mistake of trying to consul them many times, but at that point, they are not only inconsolable, they are purely adversarial to what ever you say, they wont even hear you so there is no point talking to them, they would only search for things to mock you about....this is why so many who are extremely political minded people, make a life out of slamming people who's ideals they dont agree with, acting like they are civilized and wise, yet in the eyes of others, feral as a wildcat when they unleash themselves into attack mode.

^this is pretty much what id dealt with on google+ the last 2 years, lol

...but, you gotta love em! They are your neighbor, and eventually they will push everyone in their lives away, and someone needs to be there to pick them back up and dust them off.

    "oh hi, remember me?" =^.^=

It comes from a narcissistic point of view that the world must burn before they could be wrong. Always giving someone a gold star for being there and the "no one ever fails" policies, created a lot of self-centered and spiteful people who cant handle being told "no!" If you tell the bitter truth, they pop off and break things, yell, invent defamatory terms and insults for you, or just demand you never speak to them again...doesnt mean they stop raging about you though. Social media is really bad for this, the more someone leans to one political side, the more dignity they try and destroy from their victims with each post to attack their rivals (like the current trump bashing trolls). Using threats of violence, insults and silencing others to get your way or control others is the monsters this generation has created. The only way to cure this is to teach your kids that is unacceptable, because most...even a couple on here ive PM'd lately are not only inconsolable, they are completely unapproachable, their narcissism had caused them to become adversarial and nothing you say they will ever hear as acceptable at that point. So you have to deal with it while they are growing up and teach them morals not taint them with anti-morals and how to treat one another and persona property or we as a people (humans) will eventually revert to pure savagery...I.E. Cat, I wonder if you have the ability to see the hypocrisy in writing a post where you criticize people for trying to tear others down for being on the other side of the political fence, while at the same time trying to tear down liberals with generalized statements. do you see it? Probably not since I guess that was the comment you tried to post repeatedly. Also you seem to think people have no reason to criticize trump and that they're all just rolls... you got that blindfold on tight. o3o

Also you seem to think people have no reason to criticize trump and that they're all just rolls... you got that blindfold on tight. o3o

Yeah, it's exactly what you did. Then when I pointed that out ya edited all the politicised videos and political comments out of your post........ which was good. Start a political anti-liberal thread for all that stuff for your fulfilment.

I was going to break down each line she popped out and give proof of the hypocrisy, but if you guys will defend the ones I was speaking of (rioters/charlatans in office) there is nothing I can say you will listen to. It was why I left the other thread, it was just revealing more madness in each post, you guys would hear nothing but your own rage posts. Imagine if everyone on the forums created a post just to drag you through the mud...I bet it would change your tune a bit wouldnt it?

I see no need to post an entire thread about it, I gave my peace before on it. I dont see the need force my beliefs on people, if i have a difference of opinion I will give it, and even explain how I came to that conclusion. I do not need to resort to name calling, like some do here to insult our president or those who agree with his platform. That kinda petty intimidation proves nothing nor does it do your position justice. That would just tell everyone your position is emotionally based hatred, offering no logical thought or argument other making noise because something didnt go your way.

But, i noticed what you guys boast about, and jeer at others for is often the same thing. The clintons time in power, it was the cool thing to live immorally, treat people with traditional American values like fools...outdated philosophy's. And yet, liberals like the clintons with a shady past have a tendency to tell on themselves (they all do it) by accusing others of what they do themselves, about what they boasted about. It becomes a weapon to those who try to follow a moral lifestyle, it tells me they know its wrong but do it themselves, because thats how subtle serpents works! They make noise accusing others, break down, burn, scream like wild rampaging animals (you seen the file footage) and then expect us to take that as a logical approach and not terror tactics to force/get their way! Did that explain things for you, does everyone know where my point of view comes from now? because im ready to drop this topic before it gets outta hand.

...while I do enjoy a chance to make peace with those who it was broken with, I will defend myself if bitten, cornered or hunted!

I did enjoy sharing a laugh, and cats are so much fun...but people even complained about my cat pics sooooo.... yeah

I have a lot of sides; science, history, art, literature, and my faith....cats are only one part of my interests and life. One I thought everyone would appreciate along with me, so that was the threads I created. That was the jokes I posed....how about you?

    [Complety Ignores the Political Trash]

It's really shame that people to this day are threated with such direspect because they like different things

There are a lot of creative minds in the Fandom (and any fandom really) but Internet being the Internet Hate Machine, will always insult them based on stereotypes
hell I have met a lot of friendly people both ingame and IRL, and those people DON'T deserve any of the mindless hate

In the end of the day, I want to use the character costumization tools to play as my characters, design my costumes and build Freeform builds. Just let me play with my Cartoon Animals (and humans... and robots... and fantasy creatures)
POWERFRAME REVAMPS, NEW POWERS and BUG FIXES > Recycled Content and Events and even costumes at this point Introvert guy who use CO to make his characters playable and get experimental with Viable FF Theme builds! Running out of Unique FF builds due to the lack of updates and synergiesPlaying since 1 February 2011 98+ Characters (7 ATs, 91 FFs) ALTitis for Life!

some person trough some stuff I uploaded on Steam, things like "delete this" "delete your account" or even "furries took over this game" and so on...

now I already blocked and reported him so no problem on that, but my worry lays on "why some people with these tastes gets so much hate?" it can be applied to everything and every community like stuff, its like "omg I don't like this then everyone should hate it", its like a paranoia and things can get a bit out of hands from there, because we see stereotypes everywhere we asume stuff that we don't have to and these kind of things are the ones that end up driving away people, well at least for me.

People are used to their norm, and when something different is introduced they have to bite like a fish. Its drives them crazy...it literally blows their mind. "Hey, he/she cant do that!! Thats not the way I think/act!!"

From what I can tell they cant help it, its somehow geared into the human mind to attack or hate something they cant understand nor control in order to integrate it into their ways, much like the Borg...some are so geared to punishing those not like them they will go to every length (like SFD) to attack and shame. This is why when they, for example, see someone playing an animal based toon walk among them, they will pause for a sec stunned that someone came upon their turf who isnt like them. And will try and conjure up something to mock, pick at and distance themselves further from them. They are often accompanied by the same players of their ilk, and the player/s of their focus will get mobbed..."hunted." They are so attuned to driving the player away, they will hear nothing else. The adversarial instinct of being a pack of hyenas trying to drive the tiger from their hunting ground is their only focus. This same tactic caused me to stop using Caitians in STO, I began to use a Vulcan for my healer, and human for my tank....but it didnt help ether. Even though I changed to suit their demands for "their norm" that adversarial mind set wouldnt allow them to see me as anything else. But they dont see themselves as the villain, because they are the norm, and the group backs them....and as we all know from history, mob rule is always right! (Sarcasm)

....people are too focused on the primal instinct to eat/consume, they dont pay attention to who they eat! Its all primal/instinctual to them. Even when you try and make up with them.

Now that Im in Champs, Ive had trouble from a few people due to other differences...but at least its not because of my Cats, I can still enjoy playing them without people trying to publicly shame me. =^.^=

"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow man, and I HATE people like that!!"

    - Tom Lehrer, from the introduction to the song "National Brotherhood Week" on the live album, That Was the Week That Was.
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"

  • I do understand that if your expectation for a game is to play in an x-man reality, and you join an alert to find a team of three characters from paw patrol and 12 ft tall girl with giant body sliders and near skin colored underwear, that would really break your immersion experience.

The haters shouldn't hate... But I don't think thier feelings are entirely unfounded either. There's been times I, myself, have wished for a costume ignore command that replaced a person's toon with a generic option.
