...the game is in much better shape over the last year than it’s been in a long time. If every dev team had pulled its weight as well as the current ones, this game would be in far better shape. To be fair, it looks like Cryptic has wisely left the team alone to develop, and the dedication the team has shown has been awesome. We actually have an end game. The power sets are much improved in terms of balance. The costume editor improvements are great. The game’s monetization is much improved as well, and the QoL improvements, such as the revisions to the AH, are welcome...

If Scott says the game has improved then I guess it's time to give it another shot.

Can't argue here. Was on CoX for about 8 years and so CO has become my new home. Fantastic potential but.. now more competition is coming. I expect that both CoT and VO will have an MMO that will actually progress the story forward, not just rehash the same stuff over and over (the new 40+ zone is the same stuff we've seen before). I don't know how much effort there in creating adventure packs, but those are pretty good, wish there were more.

For me, its gotten boring for a long time.. alerts, redo the adventure packs, etc.. TA is hard to get a team together, the dinos, etc on Monster Island similar.. would be great to have more APs.. perhaps will liven up the content. and again, do something that universally moves the story forward..we've had dr. destroyer for years and nothing big really happens.

When you say things like "Champions is running out of time" with total certainty, it really doesn't sound like you want them to "pull it together." You come off as a total shill for Valiance every time you post. If you keep it up, posting about how Champions is doomed while Valiance is the only hope, I'll be deleting your posts since all you're doing is stirring the pot.

I think VO can be great, but it can also be horrible. If you feel threatened by VO, go ahead and delete my post. At the end of the day I am still handsome and quite wealthy. I am certain I will not lose any sleep over some deleted post dude, do what you gotta do.

VO and CoT can top 200 population, sorry.

    CO is not doing well.

I am not going to whiteknight the situation and we all know why you are still sour. If you want to flex your virtual muscles, go right ahead my man. I have moved on from those comments, told you what i had to say. obviously it hurt you and a few others because your post are full of animosity.

Remove me from the boards while you are at it dude.

Come on man, it is a forum dude, there are plenty others, with games that are producing actual fresh classes, powers, and new content.

Yea I do want Champions Online to succeed, i also want CoT to succeed, and even DC, the more hero games the merrier.

If that bothers you, get over it or remove the post and/or me.

But please understand that you let another man get to you. I am minding my own business, you are obviously still mad.

You can do a variety of things with different characters. Use some to concentrate on alerts, some to follow certain story arks. I usually run MC until 15, do the desert crisis, bounce b/t desert & Canada for a while. After that it's Monster Island. Sometimes I go to Lemuria, sometimes I don't.

You can actually stay in MC past level 15. There's a story ark where you rescue the Mayor's daughter from Psi, as well as several other missions. That said, the more characters you make, the more the options seem...limited. I still have fun with this game, though; I guess I may be somewhat easy to please.

So if other games come out? Not necessarily gonna leave this one, might play more than one super hero game. If I can stand the control scheme (why I left DCUO).

I only left CoH because I had to; hard to play a game that doesn't exist anymore. I probably won't leave this one willingly either; it's still fun at this point. However, I wouldn't object to some improvements. If they're not going to add new zones, enlarging existing zones would be almost as good, as long as it's done right.

    Here's hoping CO stays fun.

I hope the competition does come soon. CO is a bit like an old car... you keep running it until something expensive-to-repair breaks. And that'll probably be something underlying and technical. I mean, CO still seems to be reliant on DirectX9, with 11 support on Beta for the last four years, as far as I can see. Other Cryptic games are all telling me that they'll stop supporting DX9 in March, CO isn't.... is there any money to upgrade it? Doubt it (although I hope so)...

They probably just don't have anyone on staff who can do that sort of thing. I think everyone is waiting for some big shot programmer to come along and fix a lot things that take some expertise.

Meh the vaporware games cant compete with CO. Its the Furry game of choice and none of what I've seen of the supposed "competition" has anything that appeal to the furry lot.

I just wish the game pop reflected this. And that’s the bad news, despite the improvements and being a better game, despite having greater direction, despite having more to do, our pop has gone down. And there are two reasons for this.

    1. The game is old, and not seen as sexy. CO desperately needs something that will grab gamer’s imaginations and come back.

    2. The game’s grind is overdone. Grind in itself is not a bad thing, it provides direction. But the devs REALLY need to study the principles of behaviorism. You make the effort-reward cycle too much effort for insufficient reward. Cut the costs of SCR, GCR, and other grind gear in half. Reconsider anything that locks an item to a single character. It’s making you look greedy and petty. Champions Online is in competition with every game on the market. MMOs are in decline. You need to reduce the barriers to success, not make them harder. I repeat THE GAME’S GRIND IS OVERDONE. Cryptic has a negative reputation for being a petty cash grabbing company, mostly for Neverwinter. You must NOT reinforce this reputation. Don’t tell us to embrace the grind. Ease up on it, at least a little. Focus on those items that have received the most complaints from a broad section of the community. A few voices, however loud, can be ignored. A chorus, particularly when it has had time to consider the change, should not be.

When I started playing this game I had plenty of time, but limited money.
Now I have a stable income, but limited time.

I've pretty much stopped playing this game because of the grind. And I love this game. I just can't get over the feeling of "ugh not again" to grind for the special powers (active use power, not items and gear) from the Gold Recognition Vendor and the Supervillian Onslaught Vendor.

I did a ton of grinding, more than I had ever have done in any game before or since, to get the Accelerated Aethyric Incantation.
I had plenty of time, time that in retrospect I should have been spending on other real-life goals... but that's the past and can't change it now.

Getting the Legion Gear was also a lot of grinding. I was starting to have less time, but at least I had a skilled & active supergroup to run with which made it far easier (talking about SPECTRE). And initially the drop chances weren't so rare, not they are much more rare.

Now, I can afford anything I need with Zen, but frankly I have no time to spend to grind for GCR. I have some of my plenty-of-time old friends/allies from this game who will tell me that I just have to grind and that the grind isn't so bad. Frankly? I disagree, the grind is more time than I'm willing to invest.

There used to be two modes for this game. Grind for what you need for free, or pay with real money to take a shortcut. I totally understand the reasons for there being somethings you need to earn rather than just pay-to-win, but it's gone too far the other way now (my opinion, feel free to disagree).

I was warned quite a long time ago that PWE (Perfect World) was a company that ramped up MMO grind to legendary-level of extremes. Years later, I'm starting to realize that I have to agree. Especially when it's all about slot-machine style RNG luck, % chance of a jackpot and the jackpot is excessively rare.

PVP needs some love. I'll let the PVP community speak up for themselves, but I hope you can find some way to show love to that pack of lovable crazies. :)

Team PvP specifically. There's not much use bringing in a glass cannon or dedicated non-DPS healer into PvP. Fixing the PvP maps like Zombie Apocalypse Canada and King of the Hill Vibora would be a good start.

I don't often play anthros/furries/macros myself, but CO lets you make, customize, and use such characters. Other games just don't. I must say, in my years of play here, they have remained a loyal population.

I think I can speak for all furries of CO ( if you think not deal with it Strypewolf u3u ) and say we all might be mentally unhinged deviants but we are indeed loyal mentally unhinged deviants.

    This makes me so happy.

never played any other game that allows furries (well DCUO also has some options) but I feel the CO animal faces are plain scary XD. I have both a character with some animal features (think thundercats) and a werewolf (the kind that transforms into a human wolf hybrid. not an anthro with animal head) and that's how far I can go in this game. animal faces really creep me out in here. they look like those sport mascots gone wrong XD

"grinding" is just the word you substitute for "playing" when you personally have completely lost the plot.

If "losing the plot" means getting bored with repetitiveness, then yeah.

Does that include the newer animal faces added with the pack from a year ago (or so), as well as the latest jackal head?

    1. no idea about gifting the game--might bring in some new folks--does Cryptic have gifting for other games

Well we certainly need gifting ability like Warframe. Might as well copycat Digital Extremes and do there gifting system. I feel I need to like spend Zen and use it to gift my Friend who cannot afford it.

Given I am a LTS I want to use my Stipend to gift them some stuff as well if I have no use for it when one day theres nothing left to buy on the Zen Store.

I put Lockboxes at the back until I got all the 1 time buy items bought then dump my un-used zen for the keys. Sadly don't own everything in the store yet, Kimda have a priorty on what I need more over others if I need a certain piece.

Those might be the "animal masks" costume pieces. They are actually supposed to look that way. A later pack added much better animal heads/faces, plus a few more tails and paws.

Yes she is very america. She rides the america hoverbike and hits things with a red white and blue guitar. Then that guitar turns into a big demon sword and she is wearing evil looking samurai armor. So... what if captain america was a mephitisoid and a weaboo o3o

So is this the costume the game will automatically put on people when they enter Caprice?
