Then, what about the Frosticus Tanks who run LR? Now, their BCR and ADs are screwed.
A well built tank, backed by a competent healer, doesn't need an AD at all except when ice held. It will make it really hard for my 9k hp invuln build to tank Frosticus, but the 13k hp defiance build doesn't even use ADs most of the time.
I run an Int-based, AoPM healer for Rampages. The only way that healer stays alive to keep people fighting is low CD, and AD cycling. So it can destroy builds. ESPECIALLY support and crowd control. I couldn't care less about PvP, but if I did, my healer would also be screwed on that front.
Then, what about the Frosticus Tanks who run LR? Now, their BCR and ADs are screwed.
Well then you might have to actually step up your game or the tanks need to step up their's, but as this update will basically make rampages obsolete it's going to be hard to worry about that. I am also a regen tank who tanked Frosticus, there is this little oft forgotten about power in this day and age called block, because I see a lot of "tanks" who don't even bother with it. I didn't need to cycle MD or Resurgence to stay alive on Frosticus I just needed to block at the right time, while trusting the support in their abilities. Same with Gravitar, any world boss and the like.
I think this illustrates how systemic and a bit too reliant people got on such short CDs that they forgot the basics to builds and that there was more than just building one way to play.
So what happens if your support gets hit by Ice Daggers and dies because they're CD locked now when they wouldn't have been before? It has nothing to do with me needing to step up my game, I like my game the way it is. It keeps me alive to keep others alive.
My post was meant to show that it's not just PvPers who'll take a hit. And if you take a close look, you'll see that the best healers tend to use AoPM. Of course there are other viable options, but why should we have to go that route, when we already have the best optimization to get our job done? I used to run Seraphim passive, but I died so often that the team would suffer. Especially in Gravitar. So believe me when I say, it has nothing to do with becoming overly reliant, and everything to do with having learned to become better. And now that progress is being undone.
But hey, whatever the turn-out is, as long as I get a Retcon I'll just have to make the changes work. At this point, they seem inevitable.
Really, the MCPD bots patrolling Millennium City right now give it a real dystopian feel. Heavily armed police force everywhere? Yeah, kind of sending the wrong signal. Kind of makes me feel like some kind of scary totalitarian situation. Also: if MCPD has Grond-flattening Uber-Robo-Cops, then why do they need xXxDeathPool22xXx to beat up the Purple Gang? Really starting to bug me, setting and story-wise.
Unfortunately, players need to be policed. Any tool that griefers can use to cause trouble they will. For example, in COH pvp zones - there were special drones placed near certain spawn points. This drones were very similar in function to the Protector bots. If someone from the opposing faction attempted to spawn camp - the drones insta-killed them.
This had to be done - to stop the trolling and abuse. Cryptic is being very realistic and pragmatic here. If those protectors are not in place - players are going to abuse lowbies with the Onslaught devices. In fact, people are already joking about camping out near lowbie spawn points to cause trouble in live game chat. So you can't say it won't happen.
The protectors need stay and the rest of us will just have to "suspend our disbelief" about them being there.
Unless the lowbies are foolish enough to attack the Super Villains, they aren't flagged for combat. (And if they are, well, quite frankly I have to say it's their own fault.) Griefing won't be as easy as some seem to hope.

Of course I have bubbles. Both Force and Tele. But if you've healed rampages, you know that Grav will pick on random players. A sequence of FCs can tear through bubbles like paper. Then what of the PUG newbie player who can run around and catch you in Grav's targeting bubble? What passive are you running to get God Bubbles that will manage to save you from that? That's where the ADs come in. Activate and reduce the hold. My healer doesn't die, unless he's yellow-bubbled by Grav or DPS slips during F+I and doesn't get the living Fire/Ice.
Also, 9k HP Invuln tank for Frosticus? Anyone who I've seen successfully Tank Frost(without needing rezzing) has had in excess of 12k, the higher the better. And they ran ADs on top of having a solid healer dedicated to them.
Active Defenses can be cycled even more easily since cooldowns aren't recalculated after activating another AD. So basically Masterful Dodge for 15 seconds, then Unbreakable is usable immediately, then back again. Activating one doesn't seem to set the other's cooldown to the full minute.
As for Onslaughts, I'm going to opt out of any testing on this because thinking about how this whole Onslaught system is just broken, misplaced in the world, without explanation or reason asthetically to being there. I just have a head ache.
The only suggestions I can have is:
Make each Onslaught device only work in the areas that make sense. Grond in the desert, Gravitar downtown and Medusa in City Center. Make unused areas (there are a lot of them) dedicated to them that balances their abilities to play against heroes and so they don't go too far out into areas where they can wreck players. The last suggestion is to move the police bots out of Rencen and the Westside police station.
The point gain for playing versus the points needed to buy things are ridiculous. Do you expect players to only get one set of gear ever? Most of us long standing, high paying players have dozens of characters.
Make the villain power sets based on energy and let us use the powers as we feel as long as we have energy for them. Building up the power set doesn't work. Besides, we shouldn't be taken down in half the time the devices last. We should be as tough as open world bosses. Don't balance based on where the onslaught areas are horribly positioned.
That is all. Good luck on this. I can't care to try hard testing something that likely none of my suggestions will be listened too. I probably wasted my time up to this point considering.
Also, 9k HP Invuln tank for Frosticus? Anyone who I've seen successfully Tank Frost(without needing rezzing) has had in excess of 12k, the higher the better. And they ran ADs on top of having a solid healer dedicated to them.
Maybe they were bad then? I don't recommend doing it with less than 12-13k hp, but it's doable.
I think the CDR nerf is way overdone. Here's my observations:
Field Surge -- this power on a low cooldown was needed to keep PFF somewhat viable. PFF is totally broken now. Suggestion: Make Field Surge a regular power (not AD anymore) with a base 20 second cooldown that requires energy to use (yes, 20 seconds, I've had it at 28 seconds and it still isn't fast enough for PFF to be a viable tank option and that was with a 28 second MD too.)
Masterful Dodge -- Frosticus will kill dodge tanks with the second ice spire.
Evasive Maneuvers can not be chained anymore so that destroys those EM based dodge tank builds. Suggestion: Just reduce the amount of the nerf by 20-30%
Le's not all forget this is a superhero MMO and I would like to keep my toons -- well, super in some form and with some variety.
Here is a thought - if a player is getting griefed, do you think that just maybe, perhaps, there will be some sort of heroes in the game that will come save them? SUPERheroes even?
Alternately, just turn Kodiak and the other NPCs into the "protectors"
That will make it a bit difficult to get missions from them, and unless they were invincible you might leave a player wondering where Kodiak is or why he is dead.
Buxom, you really shouldn't "opt out" of testing this - and if you do, I get to mock any complaints you have about it later, because you didn't do anything to change it when you could.
Were you to actually participate, you'd learn the Onslaughts are due to heroes being duped by Telioclones (in a ridiculously flimsy disguise, but that's par for the course for the Silver Age comics the game tries to resemble) into activating an experimental device of Telios'. It's not the real Grond or Gravitar or whomever, it's a hero who's been transformed into one of them for a short period and forced to take on Telios' goal. So it makes perfect sense (well, in an internal-logic kind of way) for them to be in MC.

So many bad things with this...and one bleedingly obvious one that i dont see anybody mentioning, is that how....how on Earth will new players be able to cross the street to do their very first quest "kill purple gang members in Italy street" when between them and their first mission, is going to be about 4 gronds, 3 gravitars, medusas and more.

You can get so close to Kodiac you pretty much have free reign to kill all new players attempting to play the game for the very first time.

Which is why I'm saying they should Implement having the shared CD on ADs and AOs be both a un-reducable 30 seconds, and not start counting-down until you are no longer effected by an AO/AD, that would solve the problem nigh bloody instantly.
In all things, a calm heart must prevail.

Yeah some things are broken... no I don't use/abuse them.. where would be the fun in that?
Villains can't attack anyone until they are attacked first. Thanks for (not) playing! Also, Kodiac is surrounded by MCPD killbots that slay villains damn quick. So... yeah. Great analysis of content you haven't played! Go back to complaining about ego sleep all day.

Most of us don't have the luxury of having Justice Gear and Rank7+ Mods Equiped to do godlike feats, most of us don't have Hundreds upon Thousands of G to buy anything you want to compete on the Elite Level, and we certainly don't need to be discriminated & segregated because others don't met Meta Standards.
I take this quote from a review that I agree with.
"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."
Sorry but he does have a point, maybe the newbs will know not to attack the rampaging super villains but my money is on not, and do we really want people's first experiences outside of the tutorial to be getting turned into paste by rampaging super villains? Surely there's lots of locations in the downtown where this could have been placed instead?

I'm assuming its there to make the illusion that this game is highly populated by making all players go to these locations to do the new thing in front of them.
This one is ongoing and has been since the original testing back when Ravenswood was on the PTS:
Champions Online AND ONLY Champions Online forces my PC to crash and restart. I've tried every setting, uninstalling, different types of client (steam, arc, original base version), rolling back drivers, updating drivers and now, most recently, fully-reformatting and re-installing windows.
I've posted about this on the bug forums and gotten no response what so ever, even on what test I can run so I can isolate what is specifically causing ONLY Champions Online to force my PC to crash. I know it's ONLY Champions Online forcing these crashes because I have tested Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, Royal Quest, Torchlight 2 and many other non-Arc related games on the same system. As someone who repaired PCs for a living, I can tell it is a causation and not simply a correlation. Every time I log into Champions Online, my PC crashes and force restarts.
Please, I request at least directions to a test I can run that will at the very least show what in my PC that is incompatible with this game so either I can disable it or it cand be hotfixed/patched so I can return to a game that I have been playing since it was in open beta, please.
Thank you for your consideration, and have a wonderful day.

Most people will tell you it's Dx11 causing it. I don't know if it's true or not I don't really experience the problem, except unless I play for an extended period of time, so it's most likely a memory leak. Since I don't know your general specs, (aka dxdiag) I can't exactly help beyond that.

All I can say is that it's dern hard to fix a "bug" that can't be reproduced. Since this appears to be happening to you and only you, I venture to suggest that the issue is strictly on your end.
Okay, hivemind - is there any way this poor soul can deactivate Dx11 and try it that way, to see if that's the issue?

I hate to break it to you but I once tanked frosti on my 9k HP ice form build using ice blast SR rimefire and only masterful dodge. Not to mention my convi's only healed for 500. I had a good healer on me sure but isn't that the point? Also just the other day I ended up pretty much solo tanking gravitar on my 26k+ UR electric form build which also only has MD and 9k hp. Blocking is great in this game, much use wow.
I just think people are too used to being so stupidly OP that they forget to use various mechanics in the game such as LoS / CC (in the case of stuff using mobs) / blocking / using your energy builder to build energy instead of relying on MSA. All of this stuff is still very viable for many situations. But who needs any of them when you have conviction under 2 seconds healing 5k's on crits from ego surge or ascension in rotation alongside MD and unbreakable in rotation.

Villains can only hit heroes who have the "fighting villains" debuff. It's unfortunately a bit easy to get that debuff by accident (being careless with area attacks, auto target, energy builder toggle, etc; they should really pick a different way of making engagement a choice) but in principle it shouldn't cause much of an issue, except if they happen to be fighting where your mission is and kill all your targets.

Whoa, no one's discriminated or segregating. I only posted my personal observation. Also, my build in particular is built to run that way, so it in fact DOES need those things to function. I think maybe you misunderstood my post? I'm not a rich player by any means, so the builds I do have took tons of grinding and effort to optimize. My healer is in one Legion and two Heroics.
Also, 12kHp is no godlike feat. And it doesn't take Justice or R7s to get there. You can do it in Heroics with 5s and 6s.
I think a lot of you guys need to look at the healer builds that you get the best runs from, you'll see similarities. More than a few.
I think a lot of you guys need to look at the healer builds that you get the best runs from, you'll see similarities. More than a few.
Those same similarities are visible in more than just healers. Relying on INT and going for low cooldowns and AO/AD cycling is what most players with Freeforms do, which is the reason for the nerf to cooldown reduction in general. INT/MSA plus relying on the same 5-6 powers on every single build gets boring pretty fast.

-snip-
Well then, we should run together so I could add that to the tanking feats I've personally seen. And yes, having a good healer is the point, but many healing builds are gonna take a hit. Especially those who run Self-Rezz! That power already has an abysmal CD.
Sorry but he does have a point, maybe the newbs will know not to attack the rampaging super villains but my money is on not, and do we really want people's first experiences outside of the tutorial to be getting turned into paste by rampaging super villains? The onslaught agent can be found in the downtown area by the "Cryptic" sign, and there is one in the north of MC in city center. Everyone in PTS is just going to westside because.... that is just were people first went went we fought against the devs.
I think everyone is worrying too much about new players though. I'm sure that no matter what, you are going to have players who get in over their head trying to fight these villains. And I don't think a newbie is going to see Grond and think, "Nope. I'm out." or try to attack Grond, die, and then rage quit. They'll probably just see the fight and think it looks pretty awesome. They may get caught up in it, but Villains are not going to be standing right in front of Kodiak unless they want a quick death via those MCPD bots.
Suggestion: Create an option for all players in the "Find Team.." window to OPT in or out of Onslaught Mode. This option is auto disabled until level 10 when Onslaught participation unlocks. To prevent players from messing around with this setting, once opted in the option has a five minute cooldown until it can be reconfigured. This also applies to opting out of Onslaught Mode.
This should fix the timer/flag issue.
Players opted out of Onslaught Mode cannot attack roaming player controlled Onslaught bosses, instead roaming player controlled Onslaught bosses are greyed out as if they are in a duel.
--
Suggestion #2: Player controlled Onslaught Bosses (Medusa/Grond/Gravitar) are now knock immune but can be repelled but not interrupted by knocks from any source. This is explained via three unique buffs which stem from their powers/backgrounds respectively. Examples:
*Mistress of Gravity - "Ha! You can't knock me!" (Gravitar can exert almost perfect control her own gravity field granting her immunity to knock effects. When a knock is attempted she will instead be repelled 10ft, however this will not interrupt her attacks.)
*Most Radioactive One There Is! - "PUNY HEROES CANNOT KNOCK GROND! GROND IS THE MOST RADIOACTIVE ONE THERE IS!!" (Knock attempts on Grond will result in a repel of 3ft, which cannot interrupt his attacks)
*Psionic Shielding - "Now why on earth did you think that would work?" (Medusa's psychic abilities allow her to protect herself from certain harmful effects, granting her immunity to knock effects. Knock attempts on Medusa will result in a 10ft repel which does not interrupt her attacks)
Alternatively, if that is not favoured and Developers want to make things interesting, an automatic debuff can be applied to bosses along these lines:
[Exhaustion] - Once every 150 seconds, the exhaustion debuff will apply to Onslaught bosses for 10 seconds. In this ten second window Onslaught bosses defences are lowered slightly allowing them to be knocked for a short period of time.
--
Suggestion #3: Onslaught bosses gain *Special* Super Villain Class resistances to Crowd Control effects. Crowd Control applied to Onslaught bosses is ineffectual unless used in conjunction with [Manipulator Form]. Onslaught bosses automatically gain access to Breakfree mechanics when one of the following forms of Manipulated Crowd Control is applied to them:
Upon breaking out of the manipulated CC effect they gain a stack of Hold Resistance. Upon achieving three stacks of hold resistance they gain immunity to Crowd Control effects for 15 seconds. This is a similar mechanic to what players have but only those forms of CC with Manipulator active will produce hold resistance stacks. Un-Manipulated CC effects will not impede boss attacks or movement.
Onslaught Bosses can still be interrupted, however being interrupted by one of the following powers:
Power Gauntlet
Ice Cage's Subzero Cellblock advantage
Backhand Chop
Triggers a status effect on Onslaught bosses called [Interrupt Lockout] - This target can no longer be interrupted for 80 seconds.
--
Suggestion #4: Onslaught bosses gain stealth sight and can automatically see any stealthed opponent within 50ft.
Reason: This is to combat players who use stealth and can currently use it to attack onslaught bosses without remaining as threatening/visible targets consistently.
--
Suggestion #5: Review the strength of Gravitar's Gravity Well, in terms of how strongly it disrupts player movement. For some it is causing their game to lag and for others it is incredibly nauseating. Lower the spinning/movement disruption on players by 50%.
Those are all I have for now, I'll probably post more later.
Fiery Form when taken with Locus produces Locus stacks without dealing damage. Simply standing near enemies allows Locus stacks to accumulate.
How to reproduce: Get Fiery Form. Select Locus spec. Rank 3 Fiery Form (this may or may not be relevant to the bug, I haven't tested if it is a rank thing but I suspect it isn't). Find a group of enemies to stand near (near = melee range) without attacking, watch for locus stacks.
Unfortunately this is completely unrelated to Onslaught bosses or any of the changes made in this iteration but I am unable to reproduce it on LIVE, so something has gone wrong here on PTS.

INT/MSA plus relying on the same 5-6 powers on every single build gets boring pretty fast.
But doing only a CDR nerf will not make other builds more viable, the best performing builds will still be the ones that cycle their AD/AO. With the difference there is now a downtime between them, which is of course nice but does not improve build variety much.

The point I'm trying to make is that taking the things we always have been will be much less desirable. The difference between doing the same thing as before and speccing for different things will not be nearly as large, which would encourage people to try different things.
I think a lot of you guys need to look at the healer builds that you get the best runs from, you'll see similarities. More than a few.
I use iniquity, bubbles, compassion, and radiant sigils. I do have both ascension and unbreakable, but pretty much never use them. I might need to add another means of triggering sentinel mastery, that's about it for how my healer will be affected.
This system is actually kinda cool, I think it'll inject a little more life into the game. It will probably need to be tweaked a bunch once it goes live and players learn to exploit it.
First of all, I did not like the three minute timer on Grond's Travel Power. Yikes! It takes forever to trudge from point to point.
The flip side to that is that it's cool to see supervillains trudge through downtown MC.
I like how Grond's power unlocks with his rage, but It's kinda boring at low rage levels with only 2 powers and it wasn't very clear that "rage" meant his energy level (I kept looking for stacks) and i wasn't sure what built his rage (damage done, enemies killed, random chance on attack, etc). Also there's the whole bit with the UI where all powers are lit when there's no target selected, which makes me think I can use powers that aren't ready yet.
This is a really cool idea, pretty much the <<insert favorite villain here>> alert people have been asking for.
I like the fact that the devs can always add more villains, or even monthly event villains (like Halloween or Christmas themed villains or even Qwyjibo?? Or that one lizard from the Unity Mission??).
Not sure I like the fact that the gear is better than Justice gear. Doesn't seen fair. Maybe make the set bonus lower so it's more of a trade-off between having a higher bonus (Justice Gear) or a Primary Offense with a passive.
Also The Savior's Glove tooltip is the same as The Defender's Glove tool tip.
It's kinda annoying to have Villains PVP when you're trying to turn in a mission or shop. It's like the annoying PVPs next to defender x2 because of the AOE that can hurt you. Maybe might need the device to teleport the player to a random location on the map when it's used.
Also, it would probably be better to have some story behind the onslaught targets? Maybe they're anti-clone sniffing robots? Why would Teleios Target them in the first place?
I like how players can earn tokens just by participating, better players can gear up faster, but worse players can still trudge through.
Overall, looks really cool and I can't wait for it to go live. I hope you guys keep polishing it after it goes live like you have for the previous updates. It does look fun and I think is something that won't get boring after a month.
Also:
YOU GUYS NERFED MY MAIN~! Now I can't do full AOE heals with Ascension every 36 seconds... I have to wait a minute! 3 min cool down on Rebirth? ;_; (SITS IN A CORNER AND CRIES.)
Edit: Oh yeah, the onslaught targets need to refresh quicker.
Fire form has a mechanic which auto damages enemies, this is probably being improperly considered as AoE for locus.
That mechanic is a PBAoE, but requires you to be in combat and within 5ft of targets in order to trigger and it is meant to stack Locus. Right now, however it is activating without you being in combat, which is a bug.
I think a lot of you guys need to look at the healer builds that you get the best runs from, you'll see similarities. More than a few.
Eh, ya dun need heavy reliance on cds to run a good Support build. Most of the best heals and shields have no cd, as do 2/3 of the rezes (and the only ones that can be AoE), passive auras are always on as long as ur in-range, and ya can block anytime that ur not controlled. Although Conviction is a good cd, for Support its so powerful of a self-heal that you'd rarely need to be popping it every 2-3 sec to stay alive (and assuming ya can't heal urself any other way).
Stuff like sigils and Ascension can be nice, but are not really essential either. Rebirth may be up less, but it'll still have a shorter cd than recovery packs.
If there are many similarities between support builds, I bet its mostly cause this game doesn't have nearly as much variety in heals or buffs as it does w/ attacks.
I wouldn't be too concerned over the CDR nerf for healers- more important for them, imo, is getting the damn Rampage queue and UI fixed so Support characters can have everyone in the instance actually on their UI and also getting ur support auras (since those outside, which can be ~half the entire team, don't get them). If there's anything that turns me off from Support at the high-end in CO, its that.
Unfortunately this is completely unrelated to Onslaught bosses or any of the changes made in this iteration but I am unable to reproduce it on LIVE, so something has gone wrong here on PTS.
actually it is related, any players with a Passive which does damage to nearby enemies will accidentally attack Onslaught villains. And you get it at level 8, so all a new player has to do is get too close.
Defeating an Until Defender only grants 5 tokens. The rates are ridiculous.
The extra tokens don't seem to work. are you only allowed to play one run per day per character? So you need to farm 15000 villain tokens to get a full set and only get one shot a day?
I agree with the above, and I also would like Onslaught tokens to be Bound to ACCOUNT, not character, OR, reduce the costs for items in the token store about 25-40%
I wholeheartedly agree.
Unrelated to the above, now is not the time to be slamming the nerf bat around with Intelligence and Legion gear.. Bad, bad call. Do you want to devalue lockboxes even more by making big sellers like Legion's Helmet of Speed and Impact Prisms worth far less? Nerfs like these alienate players which you barely have any left to be losing by making their characters feel un-Super. Continue fixing longtime-broken powers instead, like Overdrive.
"NONE of my 8 frosty-compatible tanks rely on cooldowns, theyre just going to have to get used to it.

That will make it a bit difficult to get missions from them, and unless they were invincible you might leave a player wondering where Kodiak is or why he is dead.

Spectre beats Eido in an SG run: VIDEO HERE
Welcome to Newb-Killer Online.
It's not good for business.
Member of Paragon Dawn: Because some people like friendly helpful communities.
Yeah some things are broken... no I don't use/abuse them.. where would be the fun in that?
Most of us don't have the luxury of having Justice Gear and Rank7+ Mods Equiped to do godlike feats, most of us don't have Hundreds upon Thousands of G to buy anything you want to compete on the Elite Level, and we certainly don't need to be discriminated & segregated because others don't met Meta Standards.
I take this quote from a review that I agree with.
"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."

Well then, we should run together so I could add that to the tanking feats I've personally seen. And yes, having a good healer is the point, but many healing builds are gonna take a hit. Especially those who run Self-Rezz! That power already has an abysmal CD.
They'll be okay.
- Charged Paralyze
- Incapacitates
- Stuns
- Sleep
- Root

That mechanic is a PBAoE, but requires you to be in combat and within 5ft of targets in order to trigger and it is meant to stack Locus. Right now, however it is activating without you being in combat, which is a bug.
