Neat. When I do smashes, I just que for them, and then they pop a minute later, no asking involved. Thanks for stopping by with your anecdote tho. Good information for.... somebody, I'm sure.
Maybe the problem is that folks that were on at the time didn't like the Devana Hawke Smash. She's kind of a pain to fight sometimes - not as bad as, say, Ao'Hellno or Jack Fool, but annoying in her own right.
I generally only use the Alerts when I need the XP boost from a Grab, and the only time I've had trouble getting that queued up was when I was trying at after 11pm server time.

Ao'McWormy is a tough nut for several reasons while all over alert bosses tend to have just one gimmick to overcome. People gotta know how to block, when to block, and have enough DPS or debuffs to overcome his regen ability.
Aside from the worm a few other bosses can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing or are not paying attention. Jack Fool will kill you if you don't block his big sword attack(and on low level characters even blocking won't save you) Baron Cimetiere will kill you if you hit him while he is using his voodoo block.
Since I can't post a new thread because it tells me "....Please note that, for a short period of time after account creation, posting new threads is disabled.." even though I have dloaded this dreadful arc and dreadful champions online with it like nearly a month ago and foolishly put 10 euros into the game.
Please PLEASE new people do NOT put real life money in this game cos it's not worth it!!!! I was playing all fine and I couldn't even hand in a quest or go to a new quest because on the map it didn't show where the quest to hand in was or where the quest to pick up is. So hard to understand the map 'cos the developers are incredibly lazy to put in a real map like 99% of online game developers do.
champions online if it was created and developed by people who like know how to work would be a fantastic game. It has zero potential being hosted by arc cos arc is a dreadful game hoster. I've been with this awful arc host and champions online for nearly a month now and I can't even post a new thread even tho I gave them real life money. ARC is worst host ever and champions online is a potentially good game but with dreadful developers.
This is my opinion and fact and I know the trolls and GM trolls and anyone who works for arc or champions online will be pathetic and log their avatars on here and troll this post for pages but I honestly don't care cos they are pathetic idiotic no-life people so I won't be reading anymore of this thread. ^ don't listen to them, they're full of it. Champions Online is a great game and you'll have a lot of fun playing it. You forgot that jack fool and baron also murder people who don't block.
We seriously need a lot more enemies who punish you for being stupid. game would be a lot more interesting.
Is it stupid or just not being able to see the Boss in most alerts because he's shrouded in special effects or view blocked by a couple of big dumb tanks who can't hold aggro.
This game gets super boring when the whole battle is "Stare at the enemie's icon, wait for him to target you, block, wait for him to maybe target someone else, oh he's not targeting anyone else, I guess I'll just keep blocking. Yeah Shift Key Online: Free to Fail."
Is it stupid or just not being able to see the Boss in most alerts because he's shrouded in special effects or view blocked by a couple of big dumb tanks who can't hold aggro.
I see the warnings just fine no matter how much effects are going on or how many people are swamping them in melee. Not every tank player's character is a big hulking 7' muscular guy either. Even if they were they don't entirely obstruct the villain enough to support what you're claiming.
And that is all without the default damage spam and character title garbage on screen and it's not Jack, who is stooped over to half height most of the time and its at 1920 x 1080 resolution instead of the awful low res that some people play at.
I like how all the screenshots and gif are focused on one plane of view and are zoomed in, and no you did not "change the angle" on that last screenshot. It's still in third person perspective. Oh, let's not forget that screenshots are static images of effects that when frozen, obviously obstructs things a lot more better than if there were actual momentary animations.
Maybe you exclusively play the game from a third person over-the-shoulder perspective camera angle at all times and that's why it's harder to see what's going on with the boss through all the effects since you're looking everything zoomed in and at a frontal angle. From a zoomed-out regular top-down view though? Not a problem at all and no omniscient "anal-retentive" vision needed. Maybe you should be more specific about these things before you decide to act like a smart-****.

The screenshots are at the default player camera angle.
Let me explain what a camera angle is.
The camera angle marks the specific location at which the movie camera or video camera is placed to take a shot. A scene may be shot from several camera angles simultaneously.[1] This will give a different experience and sometimes emotion. The different camera angles will have different effects on the viewer and how they perceive the scene that is shot. There are a few different routes that a camera operator could take to achieve this effect.
Oh, let's not forget that screenshots are static images of effects that when frozen, obviously obstructs things a lot more better than if there were actual momentary animations.
yes ignore the gif and the fact that even more effects are happening in an animated sequence of a video game, in real time. What ever keeps your little head happy.

There is no point in playing the game zoomed out, it looks like any other crap top down bullet spam game like that. Why bother with costume and auras, when you look like a 128 pixel blur? No wonder you and your kind thought CoH looked better than this, you were zoomed too far out to see how ugly that game was.
Not a problem at all and no omniscient "anal-retentive" vision needed. Maybe you should be more specific about these things before you decide to act like a smart-****.
I have to be specific so that you don't arrogantly assume that everyone plays the game exactly like you? Right.

Pretty sure the point of zooming-out is better spatial-awareness of what's going on infront and behind you with regards to enemies and teammates oh and avoiding having effects flood up your screen and giving a person an excuse to complain about not being able to see crap, like your zoomed-up gif.
EDIT: You don't even need to zoom out that far like in the pic. The short distance at which you can zoom out while indoors like Bank Robbery is enough to see what the boss is up to despite how many effects and melee players there are.
And that is all without the default damage spam and character title garbage on screen and it's not Jack, who is stooped over to half height most of the time and its at 1920 x 1080 resolution instead of the awful low res that some people play at.
You've heard of lock on right? Bind a key to cycle through enemies and you'll find him easy as pie.
Nepht and Dr Deflecto on primus
They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!
Well to be honest those little instances of text or 'tips' in the loading like the FREEM one? The one that tells you a target is hitting you with an Area of Effect attack or something. These honestly aren't really tips they feel more or less like placeholders for the bland loading screens.. there is similar ones in Battlefield 3 and 4 that mimic just like these ones.
Dunno if anyone here has but I never look at the loading screen for any reason. Especially if it was tips which by now wouldn't really matter unless you ask or there is a video about said 'tips'.
Pretty sure the point of zooming-out is better spatial-awareness of what's going on infront and behind you with regards to enemies and teammates oh and avoiding having effects flood up your screen and giving a person an excuse to complain about not being able to see crap, like your zoomed-up gif.
Also a big helping of "making up for the lack of peripheral vision".
This isn't a first-person shooter. If you're playing it as one (or "nearly"), you don't get to complain about your lack of vision.
That doesn't look any better, who are you fighting? The invisible star baby? Can't tell, it's too small and unimportant looking like all the other characters who are now rendered at what..wow 52x61 pixels?
Not everyone is going to play like that, and if they do, I totally understand why they quit the game, it looks horrible.
No, you have to be specific since not everyone plays the game exactly like you.
If pictures aren't specific enough for you, I really don't know how to dumb it down any more.
Is it stupid or just not being able to see the Boss in most alerts because he's shrouded in special effects or view blocked by a couple of big dumb tanks who can't hold aggro.

That's why when they target me I skidoodle over behind some level geometry to break line-of-sight, because taking no damage whatsoever is even better than reduced. What better way to express that I am a masochist who demands only the most punishing gameplay o3o
You've heard of lock on right? Bind a key to cycle through enemies and you'll find him easy as pie.
You silly potato, the issue isn't targeting, the issue is seeing when they're doing something like Baron Sillytear's damage reflect shield. I have actually been in fights where there was so much super-hooplah going on on the ol' Baron that I couldn't see the shield... so yeah, Jenny's claims are false, there can in fact be enough effects spam that the baron's shield is basically unseeable. Heck there can be so much effects spam that effects start failing to show up entirely.
NextName's pictures and animated gif do a very good job of demonstrating just how over-the-top it can get.
PS - this is why more boss fights should involve multiple boss NPCs, rather than just all being 1 on 5 fights.
PSS - I don't think the effects should be toned down, cause I love them over-the-top... there are just some cases where the game seems to forget it's own nature and neglects to implement proper methods of user feedback.
Not going to argue against Baron's reflect-damage. That can be hard to catch with all the effects going on.
Jack's spike attack and Ao's Lifedrain are telegraphed (Devour Essence not so much but still possible to make out) so it's really hard not to notice them even with all the effects spam going on. Well, assuming that either of them has the player's 100% undivided attention since those two + Baron are the only alert villains that seem to be requiring that.
You forgot that jack fool and baron also murder people who don't block.
Good point.

Actually, with Baron, it's kinda iffy to be honest. If you hit hard enough it's entirely possible to block when he puts his hands up but be murdered by the few seconds of UI Lag between the attack you are performing and the block activating. So even if you know when to block...bad stuff can happen.

The thing with Jack is, he doesn't always do his ZOMGONESHOT attack when the icon for a charged attack comes up. He has a bunch of other attacks that he can do as well, and to tell which one it is you need to be able to see which animation he's busting out. That's why I always just hop away from him no matter which one he's about to do.
You can also get the larger map by pressing the "M" key. ("M"... Map... who'da thunk it?) And slide the slider to blow the map scale up or shrink it down.
And of course you can use that blue head to both accept and turn in missions. And the ! and ? markers are used by every MMO I've played. How can anyone possibly be confused by that??
Last but not least - this game does have a viable F2P option. You can play all the way to level cap with an Archetype. (I did, twice!) I went LTS because I wanted all those extra character slots; only later did I come to enjoy putting builds together. So if you downloaded CO, didn't know anything about it, and sank cash money into it without trying it out first - well, that's your own damn fault, isn't it?

If you are in a team and complete a mission set to primary and the team mate does not complete the mission then your blue arrow directing you to turn in the mission will break and point at the mission that is incomplete for the team mate.
If you get a mission from Kodiak, Julie, Burt, Kinetik, and Bob Mckenzie, maybe some others, there is no means to turn in the mission via Socrates.
Im not sure exactly where else there is a mission that does not have a pointer or the pointer breaks, but I know there is at least one.
I bet strange person complaining a lot, had a problem with the mission that returns to Socrates instead of Chief Surhoff, even though you get the mission from Surhoff to start with. Or is it the other way around, you get it from Socrates and it returns to Surhoff? Then there's the anoying Psi mission where you have to contact the ...cop whose name I forgot...before physically having to visit Kinetik to get your xp. I so loathed that mission before the cop guy got inside Socrates and still find it a waste of my time to have to run back to the fastest guy alive who loiteres the street corner like a pimp instead of ...you know...moving fast and getting some hero stuff done, like giving me my XP.
The socrates button is obvious to no one, every day I play the game, every day I have the same conversation: "Do you know about the Socrates button?" 9 times out of ten the answer is no and when the answer is yes they don't know that they can turn in and pick up missions with it, because they are under level 10 and it has zero functionality except to send them to a Fatal Error suicide.

I've stated many times that I don't find quest text to be worth reading in general... and even I managed to read the quest text for those missions to figure out where to turn them in. The first time I played this game, figuring out where to turn in a mission was never a problem... never has been in all these years... is the notion that "kids these days all know about the computers and the vidya games" no longer true? Is the latest generation "mmo illiterate"?

And that is all without the default damage spam and character title garbage on screen and it's not Jack, who is stooped over to half height most of the time and its at 1920 x 1080 resolution instead of the awful low res that some people play at.
Let me explain what a camera angle is.
Camera angle one
Left of Tank, at head height
Camera angle Two Right of tank, above head height.
Camera angle 3 Approximately 180 degrees from camera angle two.
yes ignore the gif and the fact that even more effects are happening in an animated sequence of a video game, in real time.
I have to be specific so that you don't arrogantly assume that everyone plays the game exactly like you? Right.
All of which are still from a zoomed-in third-person perspective that the game doesn't restrict players into using.
Pretty sure the point of zooming-out is better spatial-awareness of what's going on infront and behind you with regards to enemies and teammates oh and avoiding having effects flood up your screen and giving a person an excuse to complain about not being able to see crap, like your zoomed-up gif.
By the way, when I say "zoomed out" and "top down" I wasn't referring to Touhou-style bullet hell perspective. It's more akin to this http://i.ytimg.com/vi/a9ii0iDqjeE/maxresdefault.jpg
EDIT: You don't even need to zoom out that far like in the pic. The short distance at which you can zoom out while indoors like Bank Robbery is enough to see what the boss is up to despite how many effects and melee players there are.
No, you have to be specific since not everyone plays the game exactly like you.
You've heard of lock on right? Bind a key to cycle through enemies and you'll find him easy as pie.

Dunno if anyone here has but I never look at the loading screen for any reason. Especially if it was tips which by now wouldn't really matter unless you ask or there is a video about said 'tips'.
Also a big helping of "making up for the lack of peripheral vision".
This isn't a first-person shooter. If you're playing it as one (or "nearly"), you don't get to complain about your lack of vision.
Here is the zoomed out version. Too big for the forum.
That same picture cropped to focus on where the action is.
Here is HALF zoom and cropped without the devil girl.
Where's all that left right back front up down action happening in the example?
It's just one example.
The screen isn't the issue, the tiny boss is the issue and zooming out don't change that at all.
But its not zoomed.
It's the default
This is the default zoom out
That doesn't look any better, who are you fighting? The invisible star baby? Can't tell, it's too small and unimportant looking like all the other characters who are now rendered at what..wow 52x61 pixels?
Not everyone is going to play like that, and if they do, I totally understand why they quit the game, it looks horrible.
If pictures aren't specific enough for you, I really don't know how to dumb it down any more.
That's why when they target me I skidoodle over behind some level geometry to break line-of-sight, because taking no damage whatsoever is even better than reduced. What better way to express that I am a masochist who demands only the most punishing gameplay o3o
My super cool CC build and how to use it.
Good point.

congratulations, you are the first person in 4 years, who has complained about being unable to read the map.
Did you try asking in zone how to find missions?
Probably not.
did you try asking in zone about the map?
probably not.
Did you try asking in zone how to make a mission primary?
probably not
Did you try asking where your mission log is?
Probably not
Did you try reading the instructions which come up until you turn them off?
no, you probably turned them off straight away.
PS yes, I added it up from wallet page and subs and LTS. for an argument on STO forums.
on the other hand, I don't drink , smoke or go out

The thing with Jack is, he doesn't always do his ZOMGONESHOT attack when the icon for a charged attack comes up. He has a bunch of other attacks that he can do as well, and to tell which one it is you need to be able to see which animation he's busting out. That's why I always just hop away from him no matter which one he's about to do.

You spoon bending muffin! I was talking about how to find Psimon.
Also I know you murdered Red Bull Up Arse Cat.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
Sure, but the conversation started based on "a bunch of effects can obfuscate baron sunnybeer's reflect shield".
