FC.31.20130824.16 PTS Update

edited October 2013 in PTS - The Archive
This build is scheduled to hit PTS at 5:45pm PST, 10/11/2013

Greetings!

The the following build contains some fixes to bugs that arose from our Alert changes, as well as some other miscellaneous fixes.

Release Notes:

Preview:

  • Older single-purpose mods also now give their correct stat values when slotted into Justice gear.
  • The Debugger store now has the upcoming lockbox and cosmic keys in his store.
  • The Debugger store now includes a selection of mods to make testing easier.

Alerts:

  • The XP, Resources, and Mod boosts are now part of the reward drop at the end of an Alert, instead of being applied invisibly. This will resolve some cases where the boosts were not triggering correctly.
  • The XP buff from GRAB alerts is back at 15%.
  • Bank Heist GRAB alerts were incorrectly giving resources instead of XP. Fixed.

UI:

  • The game manual UI has been updated for the new alerts structure.
  • The Missions & Queue windows were broken due to the new alert structure. Fixed.
  • Male leg length now scales down more to match female leg length scaling.

Items:

  • Legion's gear and Mercenary's gear items now list their slots in the item descriptions.
  • Primus Recognition vendors now offer Enhancement, Armoring, and Core mods instead of Offense, Defense, and Utility Mods.

Please format any bugs you find in the following format:
Bug
Where it happens
What happens

Please stay on topic in this PTS thread. We use bug reports from this thread to decide whether a PTS build is ready to go live, and so we need to make sure we're seeing everything in it. Please do discuss the changes, but if you find yourself writing about something that isn't specific to what's on PTS, then that should probably go elsewhere.

In particular, do not report bugs from the live game in this thread, unless they are impacted by changes in the PTS build.

So you are adding the new gear into lockboxes? Bad decision in my opinion, I don't really mind it but I believe people will leave because of this.

Hopefully people wont be too mad.

Edit: My bad, the new gear isn't in the new lockbox at this time. ;)

Still only the merc and legion gear in the boxes mate.

No word yet on justice aside from the debugger. Put that tinfoil hat away.

Oh, and for those wondering yes there is a new costume set in the boxes.

Although if it drops for you, it unlocks the full set. Not eight different drops for eight different pieces.

Drop rates seem...Slightly better, although might just be PTS or lucky streak.

Me, I'm going to farm the poop out of them. First day sales of new boxes are usually really profitable.

All I can say for this new lockbox is please remove Frank, Ghost and Mummy Becomes from the drop tables. NO ONE really wants those dropped.

As for the action figure unlocking. I may have tried to unlock it as I went into an alert, so it may have bugged my game. Lordgar should know about this if TT told him.

I rather players get the Celestial or something worth getting for their money. Unless the becomes are changed to be worth using again.

Anyways, the updated Game Manual was so needed!

Actually, I wanted them very badly, and I finally got them all...

Now my character Creature Feature can shapeshift into a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy, a ghost, and Frankenstein. His default costume is Mr. Hyde and, of course I have a Dr. Jekyll outfit as well...

They were perfect for what I wanted!

Now the temporary Becomes, yeah, please dump those. They're useless...

On the last two boxes, the drop rate seemed to be the same on Test and Live. when I get home from work, I'll pop onto Test and see how much data I can get liaded into a spreadsheet for my lockbox thread.

Well... the dinosaur costume set its quite hilarious lol, good job. And hey! at least the entire set drops from a single item! so I guess this will make items more affordable from other players... or at least I get the entire set for 1000g+... better than a single piece, we shall see.

Still... I want the costume sets back in the C-Store, come on guys I think its been a year since the last one was posted there =(.

Anyway, back on topic... I didn't experience any bugs whatsoever with the new lockbox. Thanks for letting us test it in advance.

Bug: Equipping the Dinosaur head through the search box in the tailor, and then switching to Rigid Alien Helm makes your face disappear but leaves the head on.
    I sorta like it though.

    ^Seconded

Also! Instead of adding ancient items that MOST people already have(or can easily get elsewhere), how about tossing in some NEW Halloween themed stuff that you have already developed but haven't given to the players yet. Like, oh I don't know...

    ZOMBIE STANCE/WALK for player characters!!!

This is GREAT to hear! I'm glad they listened to player concerns on the issues with having to unlock so many pieces through lockboxes.

While this is a step in the right direction. I would still like to see all costume pieces from lockboxes EVENTUALLY make it into the store for direct purchase once the lockboxes they were found in out live their life cycles.

    ZOMBIE STANCE/WALK for player characters!!!

While that would be cool to have, I wonder if it could actually be put in a lockbox. It would go into the stances, alongside Heroic, Average, Beast, etc, and there hasn't been an unlockable stance (yet), so they might not have added the hooks to let new ones be added.

I suppose they could add it as a Device travel power, like Dark Speed, or an item-based unlockable travel power, like Flag Speed.

[*]The XP buff from GRAB alerts is back at 15%.

Was this absolutely necessary? The fact that Grabs are CONSIDERABLY longer to run than Smashes, paired with the reduced XP Reward granted, I really found that the 20% XP Buff evened things out nicely. Dropping it back to 15% really seems like overkill to me.

Well... I think if it means making them more money, they will find a way to cram that sucker into a lockbox somehow.

All I know is this month would be the PERFECT time to finally give us that stance. I don't care how we get it, I just wanna shuffle around and moan like I do in RL.

You can get a zombie stance and walk with the Contained Radiation device. Equip to device bar, attack an object. You'll keep the zombie gait.

Anyways back on track whats happening with justice gear?

I like that powerleveling is slowed down a bit. Good show dropping it to 15%.

Some folks won't really be happy until new toons can be made at level 40.

    Actually, it's a 0% difference (instead of a 5% buff).

I'm not sure how much the end of alert bonus is reduced, but considering I can get from 1-40 in under 20 hours, solo (which includes no alerts), I really don't understand the "I gotta level faster" mindset, regardless of the reason for wanting to bypass whichever the offending levels are.

Probably his main complaint is that it's less lucrative to "farm" alerts for exp, because the old grab alerts which are now the smash alerts take more time to complete (but they are less easily failed)
The only "upside" was that they boosted the bonus exp buff to 20%, but it's now back to 15%

    Bug
For females, bird wings still don't attach to the back

And since we are doing balance changes to crits, can we get the adv on ego surge to scale with superstats. And the crit chance bonus to be brought in line with other active offense powers. Getting 50% to crit chance is just a bit to much, constitution should not be such a good choice for doing high dps.

    BUG:

The Lordly Takofanes Action Figure from the new box automatically Binds itself when you get it.

If you get a second or subsequent Action Figure, it remains in your inventory as a Bind on Equip item, but the first one is automatically used whether you want it to or not.

Was just about to post about this lol.

Also (for me) duplicates seemed to put themselves in the most remote inventory bag I have, I thought my luck was a bit off then I checked my bag and saw I had a few.

Another thing...can we get something different than that dinosaur costume set? Either that OR include the Frank/Ghost/Mummy Devices in a singular mod pack which you open e.g. [Halloween Become Device Box]

Better yet..get rid of them and include some other things? With the Drifter's crate introduction, I am inclined to believe JUSTICE gear may be available via Salvage or something...

EDIT: I see (perhaps) why they are included this time round.

Looks like they have had some improvements.

    [Become Celestial]
    [Become Doomlord]
    [Become Frank]
    [Become Ghost]
    [Become Mummy]

All have crit chance, crit severity and dodge/avoidance value increases. These values apply to all the devices aforementioned.

    Namely:

    15% Dodge
    42.5% Avoid

    24.5% crit chance
    76.9% crit severity

    ^ On PTS.

Question: Is this change to values being applied to ALL BECOME devices?

Is there a reason why [Legion's Gloves of Offense] does not seem to have a Justice Gear counterpart?

If you get a drop (from a kill, a box, a trade, doesn't matter how), and you already have another of the exact same thing, the new one goes into the same bag as the old one, until that bag fills. If that bag fills, it goes into the first bag instead. If the first bag is full (even if there's room in other bags), it goes into overflow.

This will be a nice change IF the buffs are able to stack in your inventory. I'm sure they can, but anyone know for sure?

Also, would the duration stack for each buff you consume? I'd like to run a few Grabs, collect a few XP Buffs, and then journey out into the world for a few hours straight.

ALSO! Will these be Account Bound or Character Bound Buffs? Would we be able to trade them through our Hideouts, which would allow us to place these buffs on our Under Level 10 characters that can't yet make it into Alerts?

Possible Bug: Not all Mercenary Gear is dropping from the [Mercenary's Armor Pack].

Out of 141 Mercenary's Armor Packs opened, I got no [Mercenary's Gloves of Growth] or [Mercenary's Helmet of Topography]. Both of these items exist in the Questionite Store. It is possible that I merely got none due to a random streak, but that is statistically unlikely.

I also didn't get any [Legion's Gloves of Healing]. However, I only opened 49 [Legion's Armor Pack], so that's more likely to have been bad luck.

See this thread for further details on the drops I observed.

How is that any better than doing alerts for the 50,000,000th time?

You grind to 40 via alerts or other content, or both.

You make an alt...and do the exact same thing. Alerts or other content.

In other words, yet again, you're wrong on all counts.

His point is (along with others) is that it's a grind no matter which route you pick. Some where at some point in any MMO you WILL grind.. be it for materials, gear, leveling, or perks and rare drops. So yes it will get old, and it will get frustrating doing something for the umpteenth time. The really neat thing about this game in particular is that there's other things you can do when you get burnt out on the grind. Go to a costume contest, RP with a friend or make new friends, start a new themed character and create a challenge for yourself, go outside and see the sunshine, make a treasure hunt event, read about the lore in the game, go play the PnP even.

the grind isnt the problem... not currently.

the problem isnt running alerts over and over. it's about the size of the xp buff. so that you won't have to do as many of the missions.

way it works for leveling is like this- do missions until your eyes bleed. do some alerts for a break, back to missions. 20% was a decent and much needed increase from 15% considering how they are changing the alerts.

After reading this same line in three (maybe four) separate threads, I get that's your routine for leveling... but doing a few more missions or alerts isn't gonna break a game for anyone. If it does, then you are taking it WAY too seriously.
