This is probably going to sound rude, but it really isn't meant that way:
What made you think that you could solo this mission?
I can understand trying it anyways, just to see if you can. I can understand trying to get your character strong enough to solo it.
But it sounds like you're getting upset that your character - which is the lowest possible level - can't solo content intended for teams. That seems downright bizarre to me.

I think they need to change this mission so that it no longer gets handed out to level 6 people. It was ridiculously hard just getting to the end-boss for me. And I have failed over and over again trying to beat that virus spider even though I levelled up to 7 mid-instance. The worst thing was I had it down to less than 1/3rd health on one of my attempts and then I got tied down and killed before I could Z out. Haven't even come close to repeating that well in any attempt since then and I am about to give up on soloing it.
Going into it I had no clue it would be this hard since this was my first day in the game. I tried multiple times to find a teammate using that horrible beginner supergroup I got auto added into, but no one ever would respond. And because I'm a new player I couldn't ask for a team in zone chat before going in either.
Basically this instance 'feels like' it should only be run by players who have a ton of levels, or a lot of experience with working the system for 'cheap kills' by breaking the encounter with OP skill combos, or done in groups only. And definitely not something that a brand new player on their first gaming day should be subjected to.
PS: I apologize for the necro but I couldn't find any other threads really about this one instance.
Personally, I'd never do this mission until I was at least level 23.
The boss is difficult to some extent for lower levels. I have a similar view on Alert System. Until you have a build with a decent amount of powers and all your super stats (and a block in the case of AT's) I personally won't run alerts or skull level content.
I wouldn't necessarily say that you were "subjected" to FATAL Err0r missions, you were able to opt out of them, hell you'd have to go to SOCRATES and actively pick up the mission, even then, as flammingbunnyman pointed out, it does say 2 players.
However if you do want to run this feel free to contact myself in game: I'd be more than happy to help if you haven't been able to run this but want to.
I don't understand how level 6 players get this mission?
Is it because they actually explore the interface and find the Socrates button that is otherwise useless until level 10?
Is it because they wander around Ren Cen and find Socrates?
Is it because Homeland Security didn't complete and they are told to go to Champions HQ?
The level 6's I've met that want to do this mission seem to be some kind of post CoX
shutdown leech mob that never bothers to fight. This mission brought them out of the woodwork.
First, let me apologize for not responding earlier. I've cared more about playing than forum residing so I have a nasty habit of not checking on threads I've posted on.
My initial post was not a complaint about a mission not being farmable. I simply stated my personal opinion that the low level when the mission becomes available needs to be raised.
Let me first state that at the time of my accepting the mission I was not aware that there was a recommended number of users for the mission, but even if I had been aware I would've simply tried to find another level 6 person and gone into the mission, and it would almost surely still have failed.
The simple fact is that there is some content that is designed to out-perform what people brand new to the game can handle. This particular mission is not 'new player friendly'. The boss' cc shutdowns combined with the constant spawning of new enemies simply makes it too difficult for someone who has never played CO outside of the tutorial zone, and yet its freely given out at level 6, the level of everyone once they leave the tutorial or even worse if they skip the tutorial (I never did skip it until day before yesterday but a lot do even their first time).
People have asked how level 6's get that mission, the truth is that it is ridiculously easy to get that mission, even easier than the westside missions in certain circumstances.
If you've done the tutorial zone you already have been exposed to the Socrates system being a NPC that gives missions out. When you finish the zone you're spawned next to Defender. Defender gives you a mission to go to the powerhouse trainers. If you're not sure where they are, and haven't yet learned about making missions 'Primary' then you end up a bit confused about where to go and start looking around. Somewhat closeby you run into a Socrates station complete with yellow exclamation point that screams to you that it has a mission. Guess what mission it is? Now prior to this mission all missions were soloable and newbie friendly. Suddenly you have accepted a mission that is intended for teams and definitely unfriendly to newbies.
I've said it before, but this mission needs its minimum level requirement bumped up. It should be at the lowest around level 15 ish when you get all of your superstats and you have multiple skills chosen to help. This also reduces the risk of brand new players to the game running into a mission that is impossible for them to do no matter how hard they try before they've had enough exposure to the game to already be hooked.
I'm going to have to agree. I'm no stranger to MMOs, and this mission is given right out of the corral. It's difficult to see the recommended number of players on it, and even so, it's still difficult for 2 level sixes. I'm been hammering it at level 13 solo and it's still difficult. Too many respawns, and there is no alert when you get tangled so you can't block it, and if by chance you DO, you still get tangled 3 seconds afterward.
The reason it is given at low level, is so that you can sidekick with higher levels and start playing it right away, instead of grinding to kevin poe, who doesn't pay Q anymore anyway.
It's not so much 'given out of the gate' since most people don't touch the socrates button or terminal for dozens of levels. I'm still teaching level 30s' about the thing a week into their game experience. '
A year later it is still broken with the "if one team member talks to the ape, then all team members not in the building are locked out" when they have the tech to teleport everyone from whatever area they are in to the mission. Stupid design goes wrong, every damned team that I don't warn about the ape, just like I said it would a year ago.
so....im stuck in the fight against the spider, im a level 11 glacier, and i can barely dent it.
when i die, it regens completely.
what should i do? (and how do i exit?)
Exit via the Socrates button on your mini map (the one that looks like a mini version of her head) and then get a team with one or two other people to help you out. You could ask your friends or in Zone chat for help.

I'm not even sure why they opened these up to level 11s. This really is a pain in the **** to beat sub-20ish.
So that you can enter, without the mission, with fresh new players/characters in your team as long as they have the mission and you have a teleporter*, and then you can harvest this map as much as you want.
I think I might have asked for all that. It was to be the new Purple Reign "I need a team for this" call out in zone mission. Thanks Cryptic.

*Not sure the teleporter is necessary.
