IMMINENT: (In Test)

Sources confirm that items below are being reviewed internally and/or on PTS (Public Test Server). These include issues, features and fixes that are very close to release. Occasionally there are items in test as part of a larger release.

? New Rampage Alert ? Blaze & F.R.E.0.N.
- Featuring the winning submission from the Design-a-Villain community contest, this new Rampage features a true tag-team villain combo, with tough but engaging boss fight dynamics guaranteed to keep players on their toes
- For those tough enough to pass the test, rich Questionite Ore rewards await

Where is this? What a slap in the face to this contest winner that actually put effort into this. It's a sad day when your way of rewarding the community with something fun never happens, despite promise.

Prove me wrong and show me some changes or an updated status.

CRITICAL: (Top Issues)

Among our duties is gathering intel on hot topic issues in the Player Community, as well as critical threats on the radar of QA and CS. This list does not represent all the issues we are investigating; however, these issues are deemed critical in priority and targeted for rapid response and resolution.

? Costumes: Avian Warrior Costume Set: Assorted issues
? Costumes: Some Costume Unlocks are not unlocking for all characters on an account

Still hasn't been fixed.

R&D Report: (In Development)

Numerous confirmed reports reveal these features are currently in development. They have made it through the design and planning phases and are being implemented. Items in this section will move to "In Test" once complete.

? ?Nighthawk ? Friend or Foe?? Event & Themed Content
- Nighthawk, a dark and mysterious vigilante, will be introduced to Champions Online in a brand-new event, where evidence is conflicted over this anti-hero?s true motives? is he a hero walking the line, or one who?s finally crossed it?
- Players will investigate crime scenes and confront new challenges to deduce whether Nighthawk is friend? or foe
- Depending on their deductions, players may find themselves face to face with Nighthawk himself ? or another antagonist
- As part of this Event, new Nighthawk-themed powers and an Archetype will be released, along with a themed costume set & a cape-glide travel power!
- Special rewards will even include the Hawkwing prototype vehicle!

This was awesome for the two weeks we could enjoy it. Thanks, I guess...
Cryptic wrote: »
? Cosmetic FX Auras!
- Special Aura items slot to add a cosmetic FX aura to you character for the ultimate in customization
- Aura items will come in all sorts of varieties, from elemental electricity and fire, glow, to darkness and more!
- Auras will come in many configurations, from adorning hands, to eyes, head, full body and more!

Seems like this would be one of the easiest things to make, but where is it?
Cryptic wrote: »
? Mod Bundle Packs for Fusion
- Purchase or acquire huge stacks of single Mods for fast Fusion!

? XP Gifting
- Gift some of your experience to your alts or friends

? C-Store Coupons
- Items that give you a discount in the C-store

Literally none of these things have happened. A load of B.S.
Cryptic wrote: »
Planning Documents Recovered: (On the Schedule)

These features have yet to enter the implementation stage. However, commitment to their future existence is verified via detailed documents. Some features have a longer development time than others but these updates are verified as next on the list to implement.

? Vehicles!
- Vehicles will offer some cosmetic customization, albeit to a lesser degree than the character costume creator

Look, more B.S.
Cryptic wrote: »
? Lair Updates & Boss Reviews
- Conversion of existing Lairs to the new encounter system
- Revision and streamlining, bug fixes, boss review
- Each debut is accompanied by a thematic in-zone Event!

? New Zone Events
- Large scale, multi-stage, zone events that offer new encounter opportunities and large group game play

The trend continues.

Confidential Source: (In Design Discussion)

Deep cover operatives have overheard verbal reports of items in the design discussion stage being considered for an upcoming update. These ideas will need to be added to the schedule before they can be confirmed. Some are quicker tasks while others are much larger in scope, requiring many more resources to design and implement.

? Epic ?Confrontation? and ?Invasion? Encounters - for Vehicles and High-Level Heroes
- Large-scale, multi-team, outdoor assaults against wave attacks of enemies and escalating tiers of boss encounters
- Collaborative game play has multiple player teams cooperating to take down enough enemies in the current ?tier? to unlock the next ? for example:
- After defeating enough waves of invading Lemurian shock troops deployed by drill tanks, the next tier of spider-walking Leviathan Weapon Platforms is deployed?
- If our heroes cripple enough Leviathans, the next tier of Lemurian Command hover-barges ridden by sorceror-Lieutenants must be conquered?
- Finally, they unleash? the Kraken! A boss fight to end them all?

Nothing like how you described it here, at all. And it was fun for the short time we could enjoy it. Adding content and removing it is stupid.
Cryptic wrote: »
? Alerts Scoreboards & Achievements
- Track you or your team?s achievements
- Number of victories in each Alert type
- Best times to completion
- Number of bosses defeated
- And more!

? Alerts / Content ?Challenges?
- Directly challenge another team to one of a number of content challenges!
- Wager double-or-nothing rewards on which team can:
- Complete an Alert faster
- Complete more Alerts successfully without failure in a row
- And more!

? Sidekick ?Pet? System
- A more permanent, pet-like system for developing sidekick characters
- Not entirely unlike the bridge officer system in STO

? Nemesis Updates
- Open mission OR in-world dynamic encounters w/ your Nemesis
- More minion types and options for standard Nemesis content

? Hideout additions: Crafting rooms
- Grant a % bonus to Fusion OR allow Fusion of stacks greater than 5

? ?Terror in Time? Halloween Content
- The villainous vampire Draycul Vladic travels back in time to foggy London to breed an army of vampires before the dawn of heroes?
- Players will follow him to the past to thwart this plan, teaming up with the great ancestor of the current Black Mask
- Rewards and associated content include the fashionable Victorian Steampunk costume set, Wolf Transformation Superspeed Travel Power and more!

? The return of the Roi?Nesh
- After their first failed infiltration, a large scale invasion!

? The rumored return of Dr. Destroyer!
- At a special Event?can you guess which one?

Each and every line of the above is a complete load of bullsh*t. Mind you, the adventure with Vladic Dracul in the Victorian Era? You didn't have the 'nads to come out and say that it wasn't happening. Trailturtle had to spill the beans in an unrelated thread.

Unsubstantiated Rumors: (The Future)

Agent, please treat these rumors with the appropriate discretion. Reports of these features are unsubstantiated or come from untested sources. Nevertheless, if these reports can be believed, they represent features and ideas for which the team has great enthusiasm. Items listed in this section need the most discussion and are subject to the largest change. This list does not represent all the things the team may want to do but they are among the most frequently reported.

? New ?Island of Dr. Destroyer? Mini-Zone, Lair and Story Content
? New Millennium City ?Expansion? Zone (2-3 Neighborhoods)
- Possibly a dangerous ?Boardwalk Empire? waterfront / casino district, controlled by some of the richest, most famous super-criminals
- Perhaps neighbored by a ?Hell?s Kitchen? stretch, a perfect birthplace for the likes of ?Dark Champions?

? Story Content leading to End Game
- Revealing the ultimate antagonist for End Game

? Expanded Level Cap and Gear Progression
? Super Group Missions, Duels, Advancement & Bases
? Epic ?Endgame? Faction War Zone (Battleground: MOON)
- Featuring an all-out Alien war, a Star Guardian alternate advancement path & powers

? And much more!!

I have absolutely ZERO faith that any of the above will happen in any shape or form, given the track record.

So, Cryptic- as you can see you owe this player base, at the very damned least, an explanation and an apology for this absolute FAILURE. Stop depending on your fanboys in the playerbase to make excuses for you.

Balls up, come forward, and let us know what's going on. And we don't give a rat's **** about Neverwinter, so don't even spew that word.

Knowing what we know now about the Neverwinter launch and Legacy of Romulus, I see four likely reasons for the betrayal of this UNTIL Field Report:

-- Cryptic underestimated the crunch necessary for Neverwinter's launch, and decimated the CO dev team to make it up.

-- LoR fell victim to scope creep, and they decimated the CO dev team to make it up.

-- LoR was originally going to arrive in multiple regular updates, not a big-bang expansion, so they moved up the schedule and decimated the CO team to make it up.

-- Cryptic knew damn well what NW and LoR would need 10 months ago, decimated the CO dev team, and posted this UFR as a smoke screen.

Three of these items are poor management on Cryptic's part. One should be a controversy that makes Aliens: Colonial Marines look like Oblivion Horse Armor.

I'd love to hear Jack Emmert's explanation for this, but I'm not sure I could trust the answer. And that's the real problem, isn't it?
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you

The irony of your first notion cyber was that the contest winners put effort into their costume. They (at least fre0n) were joke entries as admitted by the player.

That aside, I'm just as disappointed in Cryptic/PWE as the next vet. I do not expect anything to come out of the game from now until Champions Online closes. I simply intend to enjoy the community and the game as it stands now to the best of my ability and if something happens, terrific.

Cryptic's essentially the most expensive stripper on the planet; She won't even do all that much even when she gets the absurdly large amount of cash she's asking for. You're honestly better off giving your chum $5 and asking him to do a goofy dance. It's actually pretty sad when you can get more enjoyment out of Zone Chat than you could ever get out of the game's content as of late. With that said, you can refer to my signature for an accurate depiction of how I feel about the matter.

I should add that I expect Jack's explanation to finally arrive in the form of a post-mortem interview with Massively. It will be brief, and illuminate little, because he'll spend more time talking about City of Heroes again.

Some of this was addressed in the Ask Cryptic. While I can't give a timeline on Blaze & F.R.E.O.N. or Auras, the dev team is committed to finishing them. Re: Blaze & F.R.E.O.N. being in the test, it was on PTS for a bit, but we determined that it would need some more love and had to pull it back.

The Nighthawk event is returning, as with all of our events, as part of ongoing cycling. We've got a plan for that one, so keep an ear to the ground for announcements.

Lairs: This is something I talked with the dev team about, so I can be a little more knowledgeable. Lairs are held together with scotch tape and prayers, and whenever we go back to try to update or ater them, they fall apart messily. While I would really like to see them updated, if the price of doing so is effectively rebuilding them completely...

Of course I'd love to see all of these things implemented. Don't doubt that. But the Field Report is a projection, and things do change.

As for costume unlock bugs, can you point me to a thread with that list? We didn't have time to address those during the Lemurian Invasion, but we might be able to slot those in during the breather after the Forum Malvanum.

Thanks, TT- you at least have the guts to come out and brave this storm, and I respect the hell out of you for it.

But would it be too difficult to ask that they come and address what happened with the planned things, and perhaps let us know a few simple things like...

-When will we see costumes sold in the Z-store, like they used to be...
-When will we see travel powers and power set reviews...

    Things of that nature?

These are valid questions, and not us begging for 'spoilers' or 'teasers'. These are questions that they should have the sense to answer for us.

Needing More love is very different than receiving that love. How can you possibly go a year and have none of these things released and say "they're still in process".. that's plain insane

All of the new Demon (necklace, tights, etc.) and Lemurian costume pieces (back spikes, tail, etc.) are unlocked for individual characters, not unlocked for the account--as they should be. Don't have the list atm.

    OP:

    Agree 100% so /signed.

However I think someone should point out a few things for posterity-

    1. The Until reports were the predecessor of STO's Engineering reports.
    2. Engineering reports were scrapped entirely some time ago because (paraphrase but as close as I can recall) they "created unrealistic expectations for the playerbase".

TT- I understand your position but can't we just be adults here and discuss this like it's a business ? Is it PWE/Cryptic's belief that if Neverwinter is successful it will secure enough money to perhaps hire more staff who then in turn might be allocated to Champions ? Do you understand why some might find this troubling? I hope that this is not the case and that some sort of solidified plan exists SOMEWHERE. Please just level with us and let us know what's happening. No one else seems to be willing to do so.

The fact that lairs fall apart when they try to update or alter them should be reason enough to get them fixed. Instead we get lame **** excuses about it being too much work. Lairs aren't the only part of the game that has fallen into disrepair and left to rot because "it's too much work" to fix. The Nemesis system needs serious updates but Cryptic flat out stated they don't have any intention of messing with it anymore. At least on THAT front they were honest and forthcoming about their ****ty work ethic.

Underlined: Then it's a price worth paying. The permanent content we already have needs to be kept in working order. Letting that fall to the wayside in favor of cheap, hastily put together temporary events is a terrible direction for ANY game to go in.

The new Rampage needs work since unique rewards don't exist and it will show just how cut and paste the fight is compared to Gravitar. It needs a f**k ton of love (and work mind you) to make it feel new. An appropriate cut scene and immersion is what it needs.

    -

If they can't keep track of the doesn't unlock appropriately costume list the first 3 times its given to them, then its pretty much hopeless.

    -

Anything that can't be directly profited from won't be worked on. Even though the game itself is what sells and a PW's Cryptic can't see that. We aren't getting those costume fixes until someone sits down and looks at them for a few minutes (how Gentleman Crush did things. You know, he did his job. Bad at feature design but great with updating the code.)

    -

Mod Bundle Packs were used ONCE for the leveling contest. XP Gifting was lost since Robobo never left a to do list and directory of where his projects were left in the code. C-Store Coupons must have been a random "what-if" idea that the writer of the report thought was a good idea.

    -

    One of two results:
They didn't have time to test the color option in tailor.
They are waiting for sales to die a bit more before revealing that they could do this all along.

    -

The Leviathan event was thrown in since they noticed peak frustration among the community, as it was reflecting sales.

    -

Alert and Content Challenges is a form of PvP. That's bad and nonprofitable.

    -

Look above at not profiting from updates for Nemesis abandonment.

    -

A hideout update requires tumorboy, but STO is making too much money off of him.

    -

Terror in Time was actually a part of the steampunk secret project, but the concept artist thought it was for Champions. Ensue confusion.

    -

We got Dr. D's return. It was last on the list. Cryptic is getting worse on build up or is forgetting what build up means.

This reminds me of the time I was a tester on a product update where the game had gone through several companies and acquisitions.

Our test tasks were ... vague, and it soon became clear:
The current devs really didn't want to be bothered. Just report any outright failure. If we have to. SIGH.

The devs had no idea how much of the game worked.

The devs' understanding of the product came from gleaning the Internet can sites about how the game was supposed to operate.

Apparently any documentation had been buried in a bog to make lighter fluid.

    It was insane.

So we just sat around playing the game for a few weeks. It mostly worked.
    Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH

Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?

Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?

Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?

You know, I've finally had all the faith I had left in me for this game beaten out. It took a good solid 3 years of ups and mostly always downs, but just knowing there's a very real possibility that i can literally leave for 6+ months and come back to absolutely nothing new. (Aside from maybe one temporary event that I'd just miss anyways making it entirely moot.)

That's, really it, that's all, I mean. I've never in my 12 years of playing MMOs seen any game ever that has achieved such failure but continued running and leeching money from a delusional fan base. (Of which I am part of.)

I literally can't log in for more than about 30 seconds now without being overwhelmed by disgust for the state of things around here. It's one of the most depressing things I've ever experienced from a game, which is supposed to be something fun. Something that helps me escape the **** I have to live with every day. And I could really use that escape about now, with my grandmother dying of cancer and having to somehow, with manic depression. Handle the mountain of responsibilities looming over me that has been growing ever since my mother died when I was 17.

That might be considered a tangent but you know, I've never had something to look forward to like I did with CO over the years. I made more close friends playing CO than I'd ever gained before hand, and it was overall a good thing for me. One of the only good things I'd had in a long time before it. Now all those shared memories just stir up a bitter, sick feeling, for all of us that reminisce on old times.

There are very few things I enjoy, this game and the former community I had played it with was one of those rare treasures...

When I wore the uniform I balanced myself by delegating. Heavily.

Did I say delegating? I meant drinking.

As for costume unlock bugs, can you point me to a thread with that list? We didn't have time to address those during the Lemurian Invasion, but we might be able to slot those in during the breather after the Forum Malvanum.
All of the new Demon (necklace, tights, etc.) and Lemurian costume pieces (back spikes, tail, etc.) are unlocked for individual characters, not unlocked for the account--as they should be. Don't have the list atm.

Here is the list. At least, for the broken Recognition unlocks. I have the Avian set by now, but I didn't notice any pieces missing.

These costume pieces unlock only per-character:

DEMON Gloves* (there is another issue with these, see below)
    DEMON Hips
    DEMON Collar
    Lemurian Gloves
    Lemurian Tail Spikes
    Lemurian Back Spikes
    Demonchest
    Fire Demons Ear Horns
    Fire Demons Head
    DEMON Necklace
    Fire Demons Bracer Spikes
    Fire Demons Horns

This costume piece unlocks only for male characters:

    Superconductor Torso

We know a female version of this piece exists, since the female UNTIL Recognition vendors wear it.

*This costume pattern (Arcane Demon) unlocks only for the Long Glove piece:

    DEMON Gloves

As seen on various NPCs, it should be compatible with the following pieces as well:

    Short Glove
    Short Glove Clawed
    Medium Glove
    Medium Glove Flared Angled
    Long Glove Chevron
    Long Glove Clawed
    Long Glove Double Edge
    Long Glove Edged
    Long Glove Flared
    Long Glove Folded
    Long Glove Lightning
    Long Glove Spine Clawed
    Long Glove Spines
    Long Glove Thick 1
    Long Glove Wings

Also, this piece is worn by the UNTIL Recognition vendors, but not is not in their store:

    Enviro Replicator Reclaimer

Is there anything wrong with this piece, or are we simply not supposed to have it?

I hope this helps you to help the Devs to help us.

    1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
    2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.

Don't shoot the messenger, dude, it's not his fault.

heck, it's not even really the development team's fault. They don't decide where and when resources are directed, so I think it's unfair to say they have a ****ty work ethic. For all we know they are dying to improve this game, but it's out of their hands... I mean.. Probably not, but it's nice to think that is the case.

If you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at Jack and PWE.

dont, i have been playing that game for a few weeks ago, and its still horrible. the thing to make one cry is how good coh was looking before bastich-gate, whole new issue...major balance help for blasters, 2 remixed martial arts powersets , major change to how resistance ios worked. new midgame content remixing the skulls group, origin power pools, color customization on power pools...ok, now i have to go punch a bag for about an hour.

if champions EVER tried half as hard as coh, champions would be amazing.

The developers are just as responsible as anyone, they are the ones responsible for developing and testing everything. They may not have the funds, but that does not completely clear them. They have proven their ability to perform despite their supposed lack of resources.

I'll get mad at whoever I feel like I should be mad at and TT isn't on my hit list. I'm not shooting the messenger; I know none of this is his fault. I'm telling him that I think the lines he's being given to relay to us are bullcrap. Additionally I'm also disagreeing with his point of view on the current state of lairs.

That being, "While I would really like to see them updated, if the price of doing so is effectively rebuilding them completely...", particularly the portion I underlined once already sounds like he's actually buying into what he's being told about why lairs and really everything else in this game that's been left to rot are not only in the state they're in but why they'll also remain that way for the foreseeable future. If I'm "shooting" TT for anything it's for holding on to what I believe to be a terrible point of view on this particular matter.

I also really don't see how it's "unfair" to call Cryptic out on this ****ty work ethic of theirs when lairs have been in need of a serious review since before PWE took over. They knew back when Atari carried them that lairs needed to be looked at, that's when the idea of an overhaul was first mentioned as being on their to-do list.

Why the long list of links and dates?

Check the amount of updates, new areas, mission... etc... If CO was getting just HALF of that... just half... then we could proudly invite friends to play it and don't have them leave the game disgusted and bored by the lack of contest and state of abandonment that it is so evident.

Or even the amount of communication and honesty from the devs that we get from other Cryptic games. Cryptic, for all their weird math in their games, has repeatedly proven that they have the ability to make interesting, immersive stories, provide clear and concise communication with the player base, make feature-rich games that aren't blatant ripoffs.

The CM's for CO, the dev team, and CO's management have repeatedly proven that what we are told can't be trusted. Heck, we don't even know if there really IS a dev team, for all we know, you hacked up the Bleak Harbinger by yourself using leftovers that were done when there were devs.

Would I LOVE to invite friends to play? Yes. I have, they laughed at me...because they knew what Cryptic did to CO, and they were right.

Sorry to be maybe harsh, but after Robobo promised us that the C-Store on PTS would have return already last January, and it never returned, i started more and more to disbelieve anything that is promised.

Now to give me back some faith, could you answer one question, that was often asked here but never has been answered ?

The "dev team" that you mention so often, does it really exist ? Or better : How many people are really actually in that team ? Is there anybody left from the dev team we had maybe 2 years ago ?
