Does anyone has an estimate of the chance to get the Tsunami tank?, I want to know how many attemps more could i need.

Collect a few and open them really quick. I did that after opening 20 boxes one at a time without getting the random drops.

This has been my go to method since the grab bag's inception and has always rewarded me.

I tend to open them when i get them, That's the way I got two grav bikes with only two lockboxes. I will try that, though.

Considering the way that random numbers are generated by computers, this method has merit.

I enjoyed it, though they really need to do something about the lag that power effects on him causes. Several times I've taken to turning my camera around to stare at my character's face, which solves the problem, but kinda dampens the coolness of the fight.

Honestly, my biggest complaint is actually about the IMMENSELY painful to watch power effects on some of the vehicle AoE's. The big multi-flashy yellow sphere of eye pain can go right ahead and die. As can people who use it on the lead-in fights and blind everyone nearby.

Just gonna throw this out there. I opened 80 lockboxes in a row this weekend. 40 Grav Bike then 40 Hover tank. End result: Grav Bike Hawk on around the 5th box, a little while later (20-30ish box) Grav Bike Copperhead. After that...nothing.

Related to the Tsunami, I got one on the 2nd or 3rd run. Ran about 20-30 more. Nothing except the action figure on around the 27th run IIRC. Conversely I ran 5 or more of the lemurian alerts in a row (the night the alert went active) with Smackwell before I had to call it quits for the night and he got an AF on nearly every run and no tank.

I don't think there's a specific way the RNG works here (and by specific I mean how it works in some games where each failure increases the probability of a future success to minimize excessive failing streaks). It seems completely random.

Over in STO I've opened over 100 of the Dominion lockboxes. The 2nd one had the rare ship in it (Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier). The 1st one and the other 100+ that followed did not contain the ship. I opened these boxes 20-30 at a time.

I got a tank on my first run and an AF on my third run... As people in the Forumites chat know, I seem to have very odd luck with lockboxes and grab bags... (*coughtwobikesinarowcough*)

Back on topic: I like the Harbinger alert and would probably do it more, were it not for the health reset issue that ruined two runs for me in a row :/

Yeah, had that happen once myself. We were about halfway through the last bar of health when BAM reset.

I don't see the alert. The news page shows it's under the PvP and Instance Queue tab next to Sky Command but when I open it it's not there.

Please don't tell me it's over and I missed it.

It's restricted to levels 35 and over. You won't see it if you're below that threshold.

Also it's not in the normal alert list, it's next to Carrier Defense.

On the topic of lockboxes, I opened up about 45 Grav Bike Arsenal Lockboxes in a row so I could collect enough Drifter Salvage for the Widow bike. In all those boxes, all I got was vehicle mods and the other junk that comes along with them (Resource Boosters, Experience Boosters, etc.). Not a single bike drop. So I don't think hoarding boxes and opening them up quickly will have any effect, unless the Invasion box is any different.

The Exocets have a couple groups that stay put after spawning for almost a minute. If you are at the ritual artifact facing harbinger one is high up on the skyscraper to your right. The other is mid-level on the skyscraper to your left. They both do like three in-place circles before starting to orbit him and are easy for melee to take down. Also, each group has one that occasionally get's stuck on the skyscraper wall and just sits there waiting to be destroyed.

Second, the exocets all orbit harbinger counterclockwise. facing him from the ritual artifact they go from your left to your right. So if you travel the opposite direction they come right at you.

It is easier with a vehicle or a ranged attacker, but I did ok on 4 runs with a heavy weapons character.

Better if they just let melee deal damage to the Harbinger. Gives a reason to go melee. And melee is more fun to me.

Overall I really like it. It is fun and the rewards finally justify repeat runs, unlike the original version.

    Things I don't like:

    1. Too many colours and they seem inappropiate.
    2. The noise, in particular the constant roars of Super Sushi.
    3. The boss is still too easy.

Things that would improve the alert:
    1. Make it so the helicarrier has to throw up a force field whilst it is attacked by the Exocets which prevents it using the giant ray that makes Harbringer vulnerable. We have to defeat the attacking Exocets to allow the helicarrier to drop the field and use its main gun. This makes more sense than the current reasoning for the Helicarrier being unable to use the main gun.
    2. Atmospheric music at key points.
    3. Bigger target box for Harbringer.
    4. Have waves of Lemurian ground troops emerge from tunnels to attack players fighting the Harbringer, thus giving melee players some loving. It would be cool if they used the tanks that we can get as a drop too. This would also allow melee to be busy during the Exocet phases.
    5. The Exocets do not attack enough. Even when aggroed they sting like a butterfly and float like a bee.

    How's that?

Well, computers can't actually do anything randomly ( it's questionable if anything in existence can actually do something randomly... but that's another discussion ) so the way that random numbers are generated is by using the current time in milliseconds.

Like say it's 2:30 in the morning. But more precisely it's 2:30 and 2.3347 seconds. If at that precise time the game asks for a random number between 0 and 99, then it will get 47. This is effectively random, for our purposes, because those last two digits are changing so rapidly that we as humans could never hope to time a single button press to land on a specific amount.

However, a sequence of presses could theoretically have a similar enough timing somewhere along the sequence that you get very similar results in a row. There's no benefit whatsoever to doing it "one at a time", so doing a bunch at once is the logical way to go.

A (P)RNG like that should get flunked out of an intro level course.

I opened a box in the afternoon, didn't get anything good, did the event again in the evening got the tank and the AF in the same box. Obviously waiting 4.769 hours is the way to go.

I enjoyed it. The final battle can use some retooling when the alert is pulled back into the Disney, er, Cryptic vault, but the rest of it is quite fun and gives a nicely epic feel. The Defender narration is simple but effective.

    I haven't played it yet
*mutters something about level requirement versus my chronic alt-itis in a battle royals coming to a cinema near you*
But it looks cool. The videos I've seen if the fight (don't lie, me, you've seen one video and the rest I screenshots) make it seem fairly epic. It's so big you are tiny. I respect that in an eldritch monstrosity with tremendous powers. Giganticness is common (although a tiny boss fight needs to be a thing. Tremendous cosmic power.. In a tiny little space., and I gets microman out a bit more, ROB (random omniscient being) knows that he needs more screen time).

Speaking of giant tentacle boss fights... This would've been a good time to release a minisub vehicle.

Looks like you... Missed the boat.

This is not always the case to say nothing of how Cryptic does this. There are numerous algorithms that can be used to randomly determine a number, some allow for repeating (the worse kind for a player trying to obtain something) and some don't (the best kind for a player because these are the ones that increase success probability the more you do it until you succeed and reset it).

I think the mission is very good. The only real weakpoint I find is not the mission but the 10 person group mechanic, we need to be able to make real 10 player teams and not 2 teams in an open mission.
To queue 10 players we just coordinated and crossfingers, thats not good.

Haven't played but THIS. Easiest way to impliment this? a LOBBY! You can just use the UNTIL room as a lobby and allow teams to form up and preview the lineup before clicking "yes".

After this is done here do the same for the Hero Games.

This is quite true. It's not like you need a separate action figure for each toon; once you have one, it would appear, they are available account-wide. I now have three Harbinger AFs that have absolutely no value to me. I'd love to be able to just hand them out to people who haven't won them, or who want one but can't/won't run the Alert.

But they're BoP Why is that???

This is not always the case to say nothing of how Cryptic does this. There are numerous algorithms that can be used to randomly determine a number, some allow for repeating (the worse kind for a player trying to obtain something) and some don't (the best kind for a player because these are the ones that increase success probability the more you do it until you succeed and reset it).

I think the people who have been farming for the Mask of the Fool for the past 3 years will attest to the complete lack of possibility that there is any sort of "increasing success probability the more you do it until you succeed and reset it".

Also, there's Caliga and his continuing struggle to get the harbinger AF, which literally every single person who he has come in contact with who is able to do the event since it went live has already acquired.
Even then you have just as much chance in getting nothing than getting something depending on how far into the seed you are. It's still anyone's guess what's coming next.

And that's why they use that method. If it was easy to abuse, it would completely invalidate all randomness in the system.

However, if there's some OCD person out there who subconsciously times a sequence of button pressed in perfect 1 second increments, and the first press hits a win result... then they'll get a win result for that entire string of button presses. Of course, we all want to be that guy, because the crit strings he gets are just completely Joe Rogan.
