This build is scheduled to hit PTS by 3:00pm Pacific on 2/22/13

Greetings!

We're updating PTS with the upcoming update build to test stability, as well as the items detailed below.

Release Notes:

The Lemurian Invasion Event:

- The Bleak Harbinger hits harder, and also has a new targeted AOE attack during his vulnerable phase. His attacks now have sounds.
- Fixed an LOD issue on the Tsunami hovertank
- Lowered the loot chance of the Tsunami slightly
- Added a Bleak Harbinger action figure as mission loot
- Defender and Sapphire are now fighting Lemurians near Champions HQ
- The event now autolevels you to 30
- It should now be more clear that the Harbinger is entering his vulnerable phase

Drifter Store:

- The Talon and Diamondback Grav Bikes have returned to the Drifter

    Level 30? WHY???

    Let us actually play at level 40! What's the point of getting to level 40 if 95% of the new content scales us down to 30? My desire to even test this is now nil.

    So much for that interview where Cryptic supposedly listens to the players.

    SERIOUSLY. Was there a problem with this being level 40 before? Just do what you did before, make it a level 40 mission, and use your 'scary monster' tech which works JUST FINE.

    Whelp, I did want to try this out, but with it now Auto leveling to 30...nevermind. Sick of this crap. Why do we even have the cap at 40 if we never got to play the new content as 40. Stupid, stupid stupid.

    It needs to be 40 and not some level 30 alert. Take it back up to 40 and leave it there.

    Why can't they simply make an alternative system that characters below lv30 are autoleveled to lv30 while the characters that's higher than that remains the same...

    or make everyone up to lv40.

    I'll make a wild guess there: the change happens because helper NPCs were added and if a proper level haven't be assigned they'll start at Lv1 or something thus mess up.

    Is it possible to go through one set of new content without the Devs ruining it? Put it back to 40.

    So my gear and mods are pointless here, too.

    Please explain the deliberate weakening of endgame characters.

    ROFL silly goose devs hahaha I think you heare the outcry. No point having auto level 30 that is not what players want. You captured almost all the feedback and then you decided to come up with one of your own. If it is to increase the opportunity for more players to participate, have faith that most of your playerbase would have lvl 40 rooms by now. Also why not autolevel them to 40 instead.

    One more thing, the action figure is great but my guess is majority of players are not that hot on AF so some other form of incentives may be necessary to entice players to queue once they got the tank. At least make it a point for players to farm the mission. As previously suggested, a very rare chance of getting 1 or 2 salvages or some worthy Gs rewards.

    i guess while youre at it, push Gravitars level down to 30, OH and lower the level cap to 30 too.
    I dont mean to sound negative as hell, but..this? its not even an open mission? its a 10 man alert? no. just no. be happy that there's still RP in this game.

    I feel as though this has already been expressed enough that it should be obvious.

    However, I'm going to have to post too. Maybe if we just keep complaining about it we'll get actual level 40 content again someday.

    So yeah, please stop doing this crap where you scale us down to level 30. At least 75% of your player base just wants something to do at 40, but we can't seem to convince you of this for some reason.

    PS, can we get drop rewards that are worth it too cryptic? that too much to ask? the Tank is trash, given i can one-shot it with most of my characters.

    I don't understand the scaling down to 30. IS it because at lvl 40, those with top end gear have their numbers and performance far out performing the whole alert itself or something? What is the point of it?

    Also because this mission scaling brings us down to 30, does this mean that any loot we may get within the instance is also scaled down to 30?

    We need clarification for these choices.

    Is this a joke? Maybe you guys over there at cryptic go "Well hey they all want this, but you know it'd be kinda funny to let them rage a bit if we do this or add this!".

    BE UPFRONT WITH US FOR YOUR REASONING! WE HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THE DARK FOR SO LONG!

    There are no more UNTIL field reports, no state of the game blogs or anything. Trail Turtle is our only form of communication, and even then more than half the time we get "Hear say" and very vague entry levels of information that really don't tell us anything.

    Testing this event has made me check up on the forums, looking to try it out this weekend when I got some time.

    But the auto-level to 30 thing has killed my desire to do so.

    I was looking forward to this, big huge monster fights are always fun.

    but at level 30?

    nope, lost all interest once so ever.

    with smash alerts it is ludicrously easy to get to level 40. even for a brand new silver player.

    so what happens when that brand new players gets to 40 and sees absolutely no end game content at all? they leave and don't come back.

    the lack of level 40 challenging content is costing this game players and thus revenue.


    give us 40s something to do, and gravitar does not count, the only 'difficulty' in her encounter is if you get unlucky and she blasts you a few times in a row.


    you don't even need to make new content, just make 'elite' mode actually hard and drop loot worth getting.


    if you must autolevel people, do it like it is done with gravitar, and make it minimum level 35 and scale up to 40.

    Or at the very least give an option for the level 40 hard mode, and then level 40 super elite hard mode.

    And then a "I bet you can't do this Conquer" mode...

    This is cool, it was difficult to see last time. Oh will he remain with high resistance instead of immunity then when not hit by UNTIL? If so then Exocets arent really needed, as they are annoying to catch and hit and move too fast. Lower their speed please.

    Sorry, what? There appears to be a rather long spelling mistake here. You should omit it.

    Reason why Sky Command fails when it does eventually stir up some intrest is because 1, it requires alot of planning most of which you cant get from a PUG. and 2, it nerfs to level 30, which reduces damage output, gear effectiveness and healing to engines. This needs to stop happening.

    If I want to run content at level 30, I would stop leveling at that level, I don't need to strive after good gear only to have it nullified in an alert/instance.

    Gravitar is the only instanced rampage of a boss fight which is a good example of level 40 orientated mission. Why can't this be the same? Why not have after the "event" period, have Lt. Patil or someone like Defender grant the chain of missions for the Event leading up to the Instanced mission and have it gated for level 35+, Like Gravitar? That way alot more people would USE the content provided.

    Seriously I REALLY hope the last 2 pages of responses from players makes the Devs rectify this issue. The boss will also hit harder...now, since I havent felt what it hits like now, I'll assume the worst and go on to say that this will become an annoyance if he hits harder and we are nerfed to level 30.

    Nope, didnt seem to be a problem last time when they bumped their levels by 20 and they were level 60. I don't see why they cant be level 40 or 60 this time round too..

    Keep Level 40s at their achieved level and Helper NPC's who I suspect won't be doing much at all with players to be at level 40 or 60.

    Cryptic, don't shoot yourself in the foot with this mission. This is a warning. You've already shown to an extent you can listen to us, by delaying the event, as a player base we are thankful, but delaying it and then making it crap by auto nerfing everyone to level 30 and then releasing it will not be received well by anyone.

    EDIT: You can imagine how much crap TT is gonna get about being nerfed to level 30 when he announces this on the Super News Network forums...so to save us all keep us at level 40.

    So, did anyone try this out yet? Is it easier, harder, or more-or-less the same? I wonder what the AF drop rate is as well.

    I mean, it's not like I'm going to test this thing. I would never allow my toons to be within 10 mile radius of this hideous system, all it does is ruin their level 40 swank.

    I refuse to test this, and it seems so do most of the players for PTS, put it back to 40, then i might try it out. Im sick of alerts. When this event was first announced, i thought this encounter was going to be an open world event. I guess even some normal end game content is too much to expect. just more pathetic vehicles and level 30 content.
    by the by cryptic, what about the mega D event? the karina blaze/freonII alert? the "runner ups" of the create a villain contest seem like more winners than the grand prize winner there. The Dracula event? Werewolf speed? new zones? lair reworks/loot reviews for current "lairs"..the list goes on and on..

    Gotta throw in my agreement with everyone here. I absolutely hate the trend alerts have started with autoleveling to 30. It's almost not even worth leveling to 40 since nothing supports being max level.

    I refuse to test this? Wow guys really? How insulting!

    I think too many of you are invested much to deeply in this game at an unhealthy level. (OOPS! Being a little hypocritical here myself! See post history, LoL!)

    I have 1 toon at 40 (most of my toons are alts afterall), and sure there is a lowering of damage when exemplared down to 30 but even so with my superior gear I am still better than a natural 30 (or shrug, good enough) to do the content!

    I want to point out that many of you (Falchoin and SanguineViper) have stated in the past, the game is way too easy, yet you are lamenting the fact that your damage is lowered in the exemplar formula?

    Can you all see how hypocritical that is?


    I for one welcome these changes, if its what Cryptic has to do to ensure that the event is balanced for as many players as possible, then the rest of you should be welcoming it as well.

    Lets turn those frowns upside down and cheer cryptic on!

    I for one will definately be on PTS giving it a go!

    On topic, it looks like testing won't be possible anymore since the initial wave has come and gone of testers.

    I read through his post twice and didn't see any thing trolly about it. You guys are vets and bigger than that.

    I also think he makes some valid points about difficulty (or lack there of).

    You guys act like every alert and event thus far hasn't been handled the same way. This is standard procedure and i would have been surprised if we weren't lv 30 for it. This is a small problem at best and nothing to be outraged about.

    To be fair, i don't see the point of skull rank if we are all SKed to the same lv but whatever. Its not a big deal.

    PVP is starving without rewards

    1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
    2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.

    Yup. Diehards whose love of the game was once enough are simply disgruntled.

    Sidenote: This is my biggest fear for CO Foundry.. we get it (and sacrifice all the programming it takes to make it) and there's no participation because no one in CO cares anymore.

    I could see it being an issue if all rewards are lv 30, but if that's the case, lets rage after this is verified via testing.

    With regard the complaint about being lv 40 with uber gear and wanting to use it, that's a valid need for lv 40s and vets but It sounds to me that what you guys really want is end game content.

    This event is for all levels and is not end game content.

    PVP is starving without rewards

    1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
    2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.

    The previous iteration let us play at level 40. I know I wasn't the only one who told Trailturtle playing at level 40 is a good thing. Changing it to an alert event where we're level 30 again feels like a step backwards.

    You're not fooling anyone anymore.

    On topic, it looks like testing won't be possible anymore since the initial wave has come and gone of testers.

    I get that the vets are angry and bitter, while newer players are more forgiving, but to type out in caps, red and large size font "NO I WON"T TEST IT!" is really unbecoming, and if it was me a huge turn off from engaging the playerbase.

    And sadly its not testable because there is no one on test because so many people are throwing a tantrum....

    Too bad.

    What ever happened to the tech that allowed "Skeleton" level enemies? Didn't that tech allow enemies to respond to heroes of ALL levels?

    If Im wrong I'll shut up, but this tech could be applied to the WHOLE game imho so you can choose your content at all times and even have multiple starting zones (I was very bored of Millennium City)

    They are for everything else that scales you to level 30. And you know for a fact that the last super cool mission we got ended up giving out the worst possible worthless garbage as a reward, so why expect something different here?

    There wasn't even any acknowledgement for the Carrier mission's junk rewards, and now look at it. That mission is totally dead, absolutely no one except the occasional people trying for a premade queue for it.

    There's no reason for them to not make this a permanent piece of level 40 content, whatsoever.

    They broke it.
    We saw what the "Skeletor" level enemies did to certain event.

    See, that's way more constructive than much of the brightly colored capslock rage that's going on in this thread.

    This is why DCUO has level caped versions of all the instances with appropriate rewards.

    You are mistaken. If no one is on the PTS it is because there is nothing there that they are interested in testing. It is up to Cryptic to provide the PTS with content that their testing community are interested in.

    Remember that these are Cryptic's customers, not their employees. If Cryptic makes the choice to put something that their customers do not find appealing on PTS any fault with a lack of testers does not lie with the customers.
