There is a difference between making profit and trying to sip out every possible penny before the product goes FUBAR, and this is exactly what they're doing. I really, really hate those grab bags you (or someone else) has to pay real money to open, and what do we get in return? A pile of trash either in form of mods or a vehicle. I don't mind paying for something I can actually use, which is the case with costumes and powers, but vehicles? You want me to pay 15$ for a chunk of metal limited to outdoors while my character himself deals and withstands 10 times more damage? Really?

Also, update UNITY missions while you're at it to make the grind somewhat fun. Foreign concept, I know...

I never had a problem with the "normal" Unity 1 quests, however Unity 2 really was too grindy for me. And most of the specials are also a little too long for me. The Qularr Mothership, Elders Among Excrement and Cazulon are fine i think.

If they really wanted to suck that money out of you, they'd make the game so difficult, and make legion gear so overpowered, that you had to buy it to have any hope of making progress. There are games that do this; Champions Online is nowhere near that. Furthermore, if they really are trying to gouge that money out of your pocket, why do they allow you to acquire these keys without spending a single dime? You can acquire them by farming questionite, and of all things resources, which don't cost you, the person ultimately opening that lock box, any actual money.

Far from "sipping out every possible penny", I think the truth is closer to "Trying to figure out how to make money when just about everything is free already and players will quit the game if they don't get everything for free".

As far as that 15$ vehicle. Don't buy it. Nobody is making you buy it, they just offer it. Do you go to your local grocery store and ***** up a storm because they have a small bag of pistachios on sale for 10$ because you don't like pistachios and have no intention of ever buying them? How dare you offer something in your establishment that I don't want!

Buying things you can actually use. Okay, costumes are things you can actually use.. but vehicles aren't? I don't remember any costumes that can help me get across a zone faster. Vehicles may not be the most useful thing, but if you're willing to shell out dollars for pretty new costume pieces to put on your super hero doll, then why are you complaining about buying a vehicle or some cosmic keys? No, correction, why are you complaining that they're offering vehicles and cosmic keys?

Because, my friend, this is just about the only thing they're offering nowadays. New costumes? New powers? Bug fixes? Vehicle system expansion? Ain't nobody got time fo' that! Let's just give them a small limited discount and move a few rings around...

So are you saying that the solution is to take what they're offering and give it away?

That my friend is really a different issue altogether. Indeed, there are very little new powers, and costumes which work right being introduce atm. There is perhaps an overemphasis on vehicles (however I bet that will change if they start offering flying pegasus, dragons, phoenix etc since they now managed to get people riding bikes). The vehicles are a good form of movement but is not necessary in the game. I have both the most costly bike (200 salvages) and tank (200 salvages) fully decked out for collection sake. I also use the bike once a while for the look cool factor LOL. Think of it as extensions of costumes. Perhaps you do not mind paying $15 for the costumes.

Certainly we wish they could churn out more content like the Gravitar and Bleakharbinger but I guess that's up to what the company wants to focus on. Perhaps when and if we get back some of our programmers and artists.

Of course not, I do not want them to give it away, I want them to offer more. But honestly, this is not really the place to argue over this, so I suggest we stop.

And a side note, katasyntax, it's been a long time since I died in an alert, but once again, this is not the place for this discussion.

I already said what I had to say about Legion gear.
