PTS update FC.26.20120404a.0
This build is scheduled to hit PTS by 06:00pm PST

Hello gang!

As we (quickly) approach our release date, we are working hard at addressing all of your feedback and bug reports while continuing to improve key features.

This build features a review of Role Specialization Skills (corrected tooltips and various bug fixes).
We're also working to make the item Modification and Fusion UI more accessible and improve functionality.

There are a lot of changes included in this build, so check out the patch notes - and as always, thank you for your feedback!

Please format any bugs you find in the following format:
Bug
Where it happens
What happens

Specializations:
  • All Specialization Skills are now available. Many more fixes have been made to various Spec skills.
  • Specializations: All Role Specialization skills should now have accurate tooltips. In addition, many issues with these skills have been fixed, and some numbers have been changed.
  • Telepathy: Ego Blast: Now properly listed as a Blast power instead of Combo power in the description/tooltip.
  • Telepathy: Telepathic Reverberation: Base amount of Energy granted increased from 10 to 15, but the rate of additional scaling from Presence has been decreased. Recovery now properly affects the amount of Energy granted.
  • Fire: Thermal Reverberation: Additional scaling now comes from Endurance, instead of Presence. Base amount of Energy granted increased from 10 to 15, but the rate of additional scaling from Endurance has been decreased (from the previous rate with Presence). Recovery now properly affects the amount of Energy granted.
  • Munitions: Killer Instinct: Base amount of Energy granted increased from 10 to 15, but the rate of additional scaling from Ego has been decreased. Recovery now properly affects the amount of Energy granted. No longer has a variance in the amount of Energy granted. Can now proc every 3 seconds, down from every 4.
  • Archery: Hunter's Instinct: Base amount of Energy granted increased from 10 to 15, but the rate of additional scaling from Ego has been decreased. Recovery now properly affects the amount of Energy granted. No longer has a variance in the amount of Energy granted. Can now proc every 3 seconds, down from every 4.

UI:
  • Fixed right-click dragging of devices
  • Notifications now more clearly state that you lost one item
  • Fusion window text has been updated to be more accurate
  • Moddable item gem list is now centered
  • Modifiers can be slotted even while gear equipped now
  • Minor layout change to the player status info window.
  • Added crafting skill to the player status window.
  • Changed spacing on minimap buttons.
  • Added an option to allow players to disable automatic target facing on hostile targets. This option is turned on by default.
  • Specializations notification! A notification will pop up when the players reach level 10 and direct them towards the specializations trees
  • The power button glow on the minimap will now stop after opening the Powers window or a Trainer dialog.
  • Added a filter to the Talents window so that you can now filter talents by the attributes you want.
  • The Questionite button on the minimap now opens the Questionite Store.
  • Added a checkbox in the Travel Powers UI to allow players to hide unowned/unavailable travel powers.

Content:
  • Monster Island: Adjusted mission XP rewards in Feral Tangle and Wells Pass to match time played
  • Monster Island: Added a handoff to Astral Ravenspeaker from Ironclad for heroes who came to Monster Island before Burial Butte.
  • Adjusted Sasquatch to be easier.
  • Missions: Father Elk and Venderbilt no longer go into combat.
  • Critters: Henchman rank Zombie critters will no longer resurrect.
  • Contact: Moved Robert Kaufman to the helipad
  • Missions: Round up Rads: Irradiates with bombs on their back drop bomb items which count for the mission. Irradiates that drop bombs drop them faster on average.
  • Fusion tutorial: made Skill training an optional objective so existing players skill is not reset, giving players an opportunity to review Skill stats before committing.
  • Recognition vendors now carry Travel Powers, and newly added costume pieces
  • New Swinging travel powers added to Quesionite vendor.
  • Unity figures added to the Questionite vendor.
  • Fusion tutorial: fixed case where mission would not advance if player trained with anyone other than Max
  • Corrections to waypoints in Des mission Metal Maiden Menaced
  • Additional mission rewards in levels 21, 22, 23 and 24.

Modification/Fusion:
  • Fix: Rank-0 Fusion will never fail now.

General:
  • Updated close-up camera placement to be more behind player character, and not off to the side.

Powers:
Powers: Earth: Upheaval will now correctly work with Form of the Tiger.

Art:
  • Fixed Monster Island and Lemuria sky box issues
  • Adjusted Steelhawk Flight to be more tintable
  • Adjusted Steelhawk Flight to add tintable ribbons

Can we get patch notes that detail the Spec changes, since this probably won't be viewable til tomorrow evening for a lot of people?

    Seems good... BUT.

    - Updated close-up camera placement to be more behind player character, and not off to the side.
GIVE IT BACK. >:I I want my RE4/Gears of War camera back. As a choice.

    - Critters: Henchman rank Zombie critters will no longer resurrect.
NOOOOOOOOOOO. This was their THING. Give it back too.

So, Frenzy, an obvious combo power still isn't a combo power, but cleave, a power that outshines many single target damage attacks that's an AE attack, is....

Agreed... though make the zombie revive a little better when you do.

Also can we please get a clear statement regarding what a 'blast' power is supposed to be? Seems like it's supposed to be ranged t0 attacks like combos are melee tier0 attacks but theres a lot of inconsistancy making me think it's supposed to be ranged t0 changes only or... hell I dunno thats why I'm asking, is things like two gun mojo and pulse rifle (forget the name) not being blast powers a bug or that the point?

If they don't expect me to update my thread as usual. granted if it does hit test at midnight it'll probably take me 4-5 hours to retest everything and adjust my info accordingly

    Why?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

That was a good thing. It was a camera position like in third person action games (and the camera I was planning on using when the changes hit). Sigh...

WTH. Well, there goes four more of my characters that just got arbitrarily gutted and need to be completely redone from the ground up with new stats in mind...but hey, at least the Inferno AT energy return now scales with its stats right? Even if ithe energy return scales off two energy stats that when combined already blatantly remove the need for an energy return!

I wouldn't mind seeing it scale with Ego if only because Ego is now ranged damage boost and guess what fire's main purpose is. That said the reverb changes are simply an 'update' to the new calculation for sets that never got it least thats what it seems. Still I expect most of my toons to have to switch stats around anyway, new gear at the same time just makes that easier. Well save for Ryko who uses the +all stat winter gear.

Yeah...kinda confused as to why you're changing Thermal Reverb to scale with End.

If you have to completely break every Thermal-using character, at least make it Ego.

Probably because Presence is an ungodly overpowered stat now, but instead of fixing why it is OP, they instead remove reasons for other sets to take it as the band-aid.

Well, there goes the last good energy return option for support types. I guess I should be careful what I ask for since I keep getting it.

It may be petty, but I'm really looking forward to enrage and focus nerfs now.

Edit: Why would any freeform take Thermal Reverb + Flashfire over Ionic Reverb + Ball Lightning? They both now scale with END yet Ionic Reverb yields much higher returns.

It's also far less graphic-intensive, and isn't as picky about positioning or targets dying.

What are you talking about? Might didn't get anything. Aggressor is a power anyone can pick and it's useful for all plenty of non-Might power sets, like Heavy Weapons or even Unarmed MA. Just like how Aspect of the Bestial can be used by Bestial, Claws, Single and Dual Blade. Stop whining about a toggle and pinning it on a whole powerset, sheesh.

Uhh, yea, plenty of power sets... Three whole power sets. With easy enrage stacking might was never hurting without a toggle. And oh noes, I wish my set could stack enrage by tripping over every other power in the set without putting any effort in. Or you know, knocking enemies to keep aggressor going without having to constantly go back to one low damage power with a random chance to perform an effect. Really, if you are going to try and toot that horn you best do apt comparisons, especially since aggressor also has a higher damage modifier than bestial to boot.

Then ask for a Bestial buff instead of a "might nerf". Oh no, a power set can stack enrage (which will likely be nerfed). Please excuse me while I go and whine over martial arts executing crits without any trouble... Oh wait, that's the point of that framework.

It's classified as a form, just like bestial and aggressor and whatever the telepathy one is called, mental discipline I think, and of course IDF now.

Everyone can execute criticals without effort. Your analogy would be a good comparison if no one could take dex, or even crit boosting talents on test, or even gear. Really, people do have to go out of their way to get enrage to work in a build that isn't brick, and enrage and forms have been needing a nerf for sometime. And you can claim its whining, but last time I checked, it's what led to bricks being overpowered to begin with. I know I certainly would love to tap spam for well over 2k damage with an AE move in other sets in tank role like I can with a brick power.

*shrugs* Players always hate when their favorite OP thing gets nerfed. They also hate it when balance is cried for but the pendulum swings back their way in the rebound because they thought what powers they were using were balanced.

That would almost make sense if I had the power on more than 4 of 46 characters spar. But I don't. If it were my favorite it'd be on at least half of them like my actual favorite powers are.

    ...Theme.

    *sigh*

And y'know what, if they hadn't broken Thermal's old functionality this wouldn't be a problem. It was more or less comparable to Ionic, which isn't surprising since Thermal Reverb was the very power we asked that Ionic Reverb be modeled after, right down to making Ball Lightning work the way Flashfire does.

If you're going to make this huge stat change, can you at least make Thermal work like it did before and grant additional procs for each patch around the player? If you need proof that it did in fact work like this, Kenpo has a video that shows how it was working before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONr5p37XaFQ

Notice how it gets two procs. Prior to its completely bugged state, it would provide one proc for having a target effected by Clinging Flames and one additional one for every patch of fire near the player, meaning that it rewarded players for taking powers that were either partially or fully redundant in most fire builds. When they fixed the bugged state, they also broke it getting those extra procs from fire patches.

Change fire BACK please. one of the LAST things it had going for it was reduced threat in PvE vs all other offensive ranged DPS.. and you want to take even that synergy away?

And for what? Fire energy costs do not now nor have they ever merited using END. Powers like Telepathy and Force may take quite a bit of END to use efficiently, but no one ever had that problem with Thermal Reverb (which isn't that great in the first place).

Add to that the fire graphic from empathic healing being a staple in every fire build will now also not get the energy synergy it needed to work.

This is a bad change all around.

    - - -

    Fix Crowd Control

    1) allow for powers while knocked. 2) Redo all holds. start from scratch. 3) Make +HoldStrength work 4) Reduce +HoldResist numbers 5) Make holding work while teaming 6) Make confuses work

no single change is more important to my future in this game than this.

*shrugs* Presence is still an OP stat in the new set up. But, from what I can see, Cryptic would rather try to treat something else unrelated to it than the actual problem itself.

Ame said that thermal reverberation was going to be fixed a few months back so im not sure why people are acting surprised.

I also notice some people complaining about thermal reverb are some of the same exact people that i have seen on the forums saying that the new changes make energy management almost a non issue.

This makes some of the negative reactions (especially from those people stated above) seem some what "knee jerk".

Thermal Reverb was fixed already (see Xao's post about how it used to function and what the fix actually was). This isn't about it being "fixed", that was already resolved months ago. Where have you been? Also, the energy being a non-issue for some builds (because I know when and where I made that comment) included thermal reverb as it was.

Now if you have a good reason for a) moving it to the same stats as Ionic while being hopelessly outclassed by ionic, b) for the change not benefiting the AT that uses it and c) for the change gutting the freeforms that do use it, I'd love to read it.

Just the comment about it being "fixed" when that already occurred makes your post seem....

    *puts on sunglasses*

    knee jerk

Chat word wraps improperly if you have "show account names" disabled in chat options:
    • First get your chat window open with some chatter.
    • Then right click a tab and go into Options and uncheck "Show account names",
    • Watch the word wrapping.

Effect: Game uses word wrapping as if the account name is shown, causing the chat to wrap way too early.
