Demorecord is the hardest part. Video editing and uploading to YouTube has never been easier in this day and age. I don't think there's any official documentation on demorecord by Cryptic, but a few generous community members have posted their experiences on the boards and Gammabreaker is our own SG has experience with it as well.
Demorecord is great for "machinima" as well, if you wanted to actually demorecord players acting out a story. There are some forum threads with more info about how to use the demorecord editor, place camera angles, panning effects, etc. Just search Demorecord Edit. For PvP videos, using recording tools like FRAPS, Bandicam or even X-Fire make snagging footage easy, and you can put the pieces together with Windows Movie Maker or other video software. I use Sony Vegas Pro 11, other programs are Camtasia, Adobe, HitFilm, Magix, etc.
To keep file sizes nice and low, I recommend rendering down to .wmv files at 24 FPS with dimensions of 1280x720 (widescreen)

Well, doing anything remotely technical while drunk can be challenging, but why do you want to use demorecord? Far as I can tell, every video in this thread was done directly, no demorecord involved. Fraps is dog easy to use.

Freezeframes, awesome angles, that perfect kill shot, slow motion. That kind of stuff. Plus, with DemoRecord, you can focus the camera somewhere other than yourself for the entire video.
I make GTA IV machinima with it's form of "demorecord", but have little interest in doing the same for my CO videos. For me, I enjoy the pure gameplay aspect of it. I also try to post videos at least once a week, sometimes many in one week, sometimes none (you get the idea.) Recording pure gameplay is quick, easy to render down and fun to slap music over.
Also u get to see how each person plays, which is important to learn from.
Rofl i was ignoring that person whole match cos i was dueling beau and now i see that he was actually hunting me for some reason... looks like i know my next target for farming if i'll get bored heheh
