That would be handy, but it appears the CO powers system isn't very tolerant of that sort of customization.
This is another point at which I feel I can safely say, "It should be."
It's not like creating customized powers is even a new concept. The Elder Scrolls games started out doing this way back when. And, oh, ya, the Hero System behind Champions PnP is all about power customization.
There are tons of games out there that do customized powers because it's not complicated. In fact, it uses exactly the same number of variables the current system does.
Alas, the original designers of Champs Online were not devoted to the original design of Champions or the Hero System.
That would be handy, but it appears the CO powers system isn't very tolerant of that sort of customization.
Kinda, the discussed method is basically thus:
1. Remove all the stats from power replacers, Leaving just the replacer effect
2. Add a new gear slot unlocked around level 10, possibly limited to brawler and avenger roles
3. This new slot, Modifier/Enhancement/Signature or something, can only slot these "New" replacer items, as well as the crafted "Chance of X" gear pieces, which would be converted to replacers and put under their own tab, along with all the existing power replacers in that set (Custom replacers or enhancers)
The hardest part being converting as modifying the crafted enhancers, But crafting itself needs a major overhaul
This is another point at which I feel I can safely say, "It should be."
Oh, sure. Mechanics really shouldn't be tied to special effects the way they are. Most weapon powers should be 'does damage of a type appropriate to your weapon', not a fixed damage type.
1. Perception Primaries and Secondaries with either 200% Perception plus stats or 100% perception with single stat and two stat variants. Stronger than SL Elite.
2. Single and Double stat dodge and + Def primaries.
As stated previously, we will not be creating "secondary stat" items for Acclaim gear at this time.
We have no plans to buff the secondary items even further. The reason for this has been stated previously - the items capable of being built via the Algo system for SL Elite drops are more powerful than we intended, and push Secondary items up higher than we wanted. However, they are in game, and we do not want to remove/nerf them. But we also don't want to make even MORE powerful ones at this time. As such, the new Acclaim Secondaries are on par with those items, and if you already have appropriate SL Elite secondaries, you don't need to get new Acclaim gear. For all of the people that don't, and for acquiring gear for new characters, you have another option to do so.
5. Give us the single stat secondaries in their other slots not just the one. Example I want a 38 Ego in Sec Def not just Sec Utility.
This is not how the current gear design works. Ego is a primary Utility stat, and a secondary Defense stat. This means it gets lower values on Defense items, and is not intended to be the only stat you get from a Defense item. This is true of all 8 stats, they exist as a primary stat on only 1 of the types of gear, Offense, Defense, or Utility. That design will likely change during the larger gear rework, but that is still quite a ways out. Introducing that now cause a massive increase to the maximum potential value you could have a Super Stat reach.
Note: I realize SL Elite Secondaries provide exceptions to this rule, but as I said, they do things we didn't want, but that are already done.
6. Better stat splits. I wouldn't mind a % 70/30 or 80/20 Dex/Str or Str/Con Prim Of as an example or the same thing but Ego/Int Primary Utility.
This falls into the category of "we can't have 10,000 items in the Acclaim store." The items we built are aimed at being something lots of people will want, but will not be min/maxed for every player. If players want very specific pieces of gear that aren't offered this way, they will still have to look at other ways to get that gear.
So um sort of random observation here. The naming conventions for these upgrades are mixed up.
for example, old primary defense items are named mask while the new mask upgrades are secondary utility.
Yep, we changed it. Mask vs Leggings vs Cape doesn't have any real meaning to the gear, and we just liked them better this way. Yes, it might mean you end up wearing more than one mask... but the gear system already allows you to wear more than one pair of shorts, boots, or more than one cape.
Eh in Final Fantasy my Mithra has 9 pairs of shoes she wears for one job. Not all at the same TIME mind you. Though she does swap out up to 5 or 6 in one fight sometimes. :P
Something I would like to see, just for the grins, is some way to see in-store that you have the costume bit associated with this piece before you pick it up (presumable this is because I'm a fashion horse). (like the costume only unlock store does. ) Actually I'd like to see that anywhere you can purchase bits that have costumes in them. My spreadsheet of drop/buy/craft pieces unlocked is hard to keep updated
By the way... Since various pvp things are being 'looked at' is there any chance that /whitelist_duels to, you know, work? Because I spent 10 minutes being bugged by a level 40 while running my new swordsman through Westside the other evening.
Did the Mom's Basement Under Stairs options ever get fixed?
As far as I can tell, yes, it's working exactly as I would expect it to now. But I have all the basements, so I don't know now if the issue was 'Mom's storage' showing the Tech tubes (which it now doesn't, it has the cardboard boxes), or Tech Basement having a 'Mom's Storage' text option (which I can't tell due to owning all three).
This is not how the current gear design works. Ego is a primary Utility stat, and a secondary Defense stat. This means it gets lower values on Defense items, and is not intended to be the only stat you get from a Defense item.
The crafting system, which is also the random drop system, disagrees. Primaries have a Major and a Minor effect slot, secondaries have a Minor effect slot, and ego (for example) fits in Minor Defense, Minor Utility, and Major Utility.
We have no plans to buff the secondary items even further. The reason for this has been stated previously - the items capable of being built via the Algo system for SL Elite drops are more powerful than we intended, and push Secondary items up higher than we wanted. Well if not more powerful, then just match them with 29\8 cos those provide 37 total stats, meaning those blues are BETTER than purple pvp gear which is much harder to get.
According to this 36 or rather single stat Ego should be able to exist as far as secondaries go in both Def and Utility slots. It already does, and I'm not talking about SL. One can get a basic 20 piece in both slots. Remember SL gear does not break the stat restrictions when it comes to single stat gear. You can't get 96 Int in anything but Primary Utility just like it's restrictions say. This applies to every other single stat piece in SL and the rest of the game.
Guess what? Normal Dex/Ego Sec Def items (Not SL) exist too. They don't break the restriction as both Dex and Ego can exist in secondary defense. Yet you break those restrictions you claim to need to follow to make a sec def con/pre acclaim piece which according to said limits should not be able to exist? What?
There is a part of me that hopes Ame and co. hate algorithmic over-buffed Blues nearly as much as I do by the time this is done. Not quite as much as I do (that'd be silly) but nearly as much .
For the record, a blue and a purple with the exact same attribute bonues aren't the same - the purple fractionally is better since it offers more defense . Not a lot, since you're getting up into the 130s with a full set of purple (which converts via Cryptic math to 30-34% damage mitigation). I'd put in a fair number of hours to replace a SL blue with an otherwise identical purple, but others probably won't. Good defense scores have a multiplicative affect on regen .
One day the critters might actually get some buffs (or even better more diverse skills) to offset this relentless inflation .
Okay, I just reviewed the new pvp items. Many of them are illegal by standard itemization. Most notably, Con and Pre cannot appear in secondary defense, and for primary defense items *must* be mixed with a secondary stat, because the minor slot cannot hold con/pre. For clarity:
Offensive Primary: has a Major Offense effect and a Minor Offense effect
Offensive Secondary: has a Minor Offense effect. Major Offense effects: Str, Dex, Rec. Blue max is +59.9 to one or +34.5 to two.
Minor Offense effects: Str, Dex, Rec, Con, Pre. Blue max is +20.7 to one or +11.8 to two. Defensive Primary: has a Major Offense effect and a Minor Defense effect
Defensive Secondary: has a Minor Defense effect. Major Defense effects: Con, Pre. Blue max is +59.9 to one or +34.5 to two.
Minor Defense effects: Str, Dex, Rec, Ego, End, Int. Blue max is +20.7 to one or +11.8 to two. Note that Con and Pre do not occur here Utility Primary: has a Major Offense effect and a Minor Defense effect
Utility Secondary: has a Minor Defense effect. Major Utility effects: Ego, End, Int. Blue max is +59.9 to one or +34.5 to two.
Minor Utility effects: Con, Pre, Ego, End, Int. Blue max is +20.7 to one or +11.8 to two.
Difficulty scaling can add 15.5 to one or 8.9 to two.
Now, it may be intended to do this, and certain focused builds will find the new items awesome (the +36 pre, +36 con, and +20/+20 pre/con sec defense and the +98 con, +98 pre, and +55/+55 con/pre items, because they break standard itemization in a very useful manner, will be very desirable), but you should realize you're doing it...
- Flying straight up or straight down still has the body at something like 45 degrees inclination relative to the direction of gravity. This looks VERY odd.
Flight powers in Champions are universally lacking the animations for vertical ascent and descent.. along with a few other directional combinations.
Alright, seems it's something I'll start nagging about then. I'm not sure if there is a mechanical reason as to why they don't deal well with vertical ascent and descent, but it certainly looks odd. Especially for Heroic flight. I was just about able to suspend my disbelief for the normal flight, but Heroic looks far more odd.

We did that. The upcoming PTS patch will have them at the prices we are expecting them to go live with.

This does not meet slot restrictions, as neither Dex nor Ego are Primary Defense stats.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here, but again, no secondary stat items going into Acclaim gear with this pass.

Indeed, which means that +36 Dex and +36 Ego secondary defenses are available from Adventure packs. I guess those upgrades will remain "PvE only."
