And then, there was rejoice.
And poor Devs headdesking about another 0-point advantage.
Very pretty little notes.
Though, any info about the broken escort missions all over the game? http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?p=1938948
There is a similar issue to this one on team based pvp maps, something you may want to look into before king of the hill is live.
Just wanted to make sure things will be changed before thursday or delay the parts in green.
Those sigils always so full of hate.
Is there any chance that we could get something similar which would make Tornado Flight's 3rd speed level keep our heroes in the same upright pose as 1st and 2nd gear, please?
There were a lot of people requesting this, but I suspect most have now given up on it. I am still hopeful though, as I really want this power to be perfect.
*Crosses fingers*
Also, can't wait to check out the penthouse!!!
First, here's a sampling of my toons, some offensive, some defensive, one tank healer, a couple who leveled up almost entirely in PvP. The goal was to get a good cross section. There were some surprises to me in this (like Construct having better acclaim per match than Xav given that Construct is worthless in DPS...at least until I borrow some of the stuff I came up with for Nike's build to remake him into scary tank healer)
Name - level - total acclaim - matches - acclaim per match
Xavori - 40 - 396915 - 293 -1355 (tank hunting tank)
Lady E - 40 - 1369124 - 826 - 1658 (lolsigils and gigaspam)
Construct - 40 - 229361 - 140 - 1638 (tank healer)
Anne Thraxx - 36 - 257627 - 373 - 691 (leveled up virtually entirely in PvP)
Cassandra - 33 - 183136 - 285 - 643 (90% PvP leveling)
Giselle - 27 - 20969 - 71 - 295 (tank gadgeteer)
Fluffy the Devourer - 26 - 49691 - 91 - 546 (om nom nom)
Varri - 24 - 31193 - 58 - 538 (laser melee)
Ol' Bill - 19 - 33184 - 77 - 431 (thou shalt not heal)
Atropa Belladonna - 16 - 10776 - 25 - 431 (toxic squishy)
Puss in Gogo Boots - 14 - 7496 - 14 - 536 (swords for now...something else soon)
Zell - 13 - 2775 - 6 - 463 (ranged TK)
In addition to Construct being higher than I expected, Giselle is a lot lower given just how awesome she is in duels. I knew dueling didn't translate into Hero Games well, but didn't expect it to play out like that. She doesn't die in Hero Games, but she doesn't get a lot of kills either.
Anne and Cassandra are about as good as it gets in terms of earning acclaim. They both averaged over 10 kills per match prior to level 31 (cuz then they ran into the tricked out level 40's and that's a whole 'nother ball game).
Xavori's acclaim per match was a lot lower than I expected since he should be on par with Construct, and they both should be lower than Lady E who destroys stuff. Not sure what's going on there, and I even double checked my numbers on those three.
Anyway, those toons should be about the high end for what players can earn acclaim wise. So, next up is gear and current pricing and why it's too high in some cases.
Gear level - total cost for set - estimated acclaim per match - matches needed for set
11 - 1140 - 400 - 3
15 - 3540 - 425 - 8
18 - 6480 - 400 - 16
21 - 12000 - 450 - 27
25 - 23100 - 500 - 46
28 - 34500 - 500 - 69
31 - 50400 - 600 - 84
35 - 74100 - 600 - 124
38 - 91050 - 700 - 130
40 - 192000 - 1500 - 128
40 purple - 1200000 - 1500 - 800 (bwahahaha)
I suspect my acclaim per match is way higher than average. I talked to a few people in coPvP, and most are earning less per match than my cross section of toons. However, after running the numbers and realizing that even with my accelerated acclaim earning rate that it was obvious how expensive this stuff is, I figured I'd just go with the numbers I was sure about.
Let's start with the obvious. 1.2M acclaim for a full set of level 40 purple gear. Let's assume my 1500 per match is average for a level 40. Sure, ZA beats that significantly if you make it 20 minutes, and a Stronghold match that goes on forever because of good healers on both teams will as well. But when you factor in the matches where you're on the 3 in a 5v3 UTC and such, it prolly really does work out. So, 1.2M divided by 1500 per match means it's going to take 800 matches to put together that set of gear. I've been playing since day one of early release. I play a lot (well, not recently as been busy...but usually a lot). I have exactly one toon with enough matches to buy the set. No way can a casual player be expected to be anywhere near that in a reasonable amount of time.
Of course, that one toon already has better gear since it's not possible to put together her stats using the gear we were given. Yes, her total stats might be a tiny bit lower than the total stats she could get, but it does her no good to buff up her STR, PRE, EGO, or DEX at the expense of CON, END, REC, and INT.
Xavori ran into the same problem and he just wants DEX/CON +EGO. Those three don't have any slot conflicts. Yet, no way to gear as well as he already is.
Anne and Cassandra are pretty happy with the gear tho. I've been having E buy them gear off the AH since they're allergic to PvE, but now they'll be able to get some of the gear themselves.
Anyway, back to cost.
The first few levels are fine. Not much gear to be had at those levels, but I, the eternal optimist, hold out hope that more low level PvP gear will magically appear at some point so that it becomes possible to level up and gear up toons wtihout PvE'ing at all.
Where things start getting dicey is the mid twenties. Yes, it's likely a toon leveling up in PvP will have enough acclaim to gear up PROVIDED THEY HAVEN'T BOUGHT ANY GEAR PREVIOUSLY. Also, it helps if they play squishy toons well enough to rack up a lot of kills per match so as to earn more acclaim per match. Alternatively, they could build an ubertank and sleep through ZA matches. The costs on the gear starting at level 25 need to be dropped by about 25%-30% to account for people buying gear as they need it rather than expecting them to save up all their acclaim until this point.
At level 35, it gets worse. Anne and Cassandra are likely as good as it gets in terms of earning acclaim. Neither of them would be anywhere near being able to keep updating their gear as they level up. By the time a toon hits level 35, they've spent 205k on gear. In just three levels, they're going to need to earn another 91k to get the level 38 gear. (Yes, I know no one is going to buy all the gear at each tier since right now since there isn't enough gear for it to make sense, but I hold out hope that there will be enough gear at each tier to keep your toon up to date eventually). This gear might need to be dropped as much as 40% for it to be affordable.
The level 40 blue gear prolly is okay price wise given how much easier it is for level 40's to get the last bits of acclaim they'll need combined with being at the level cap so no more constantly rebuying gear. Once they have the piece they want, done.
The level 40 purple gear, as stated previously, is ridiculously overpriced. It should not take a casual player 2+ years to put together a full set especially since in most cases players can actually put together a better-for-them set of gear using scaled elite blues, and do so in one night.
Actually I'm still hoping for this. I haven't even bothered purchasing the power yet because of how odd the 3rd speed level looks. If they fix it so it stays the same across all the speeds I'd actually buy it.
LOL.:D 10 char
Agreed. That's the only thing that's prevented me from buying that power.
Not just Tornado Flight, theres several travel powers where I wish I could keep the pose from changing when it went to third gear. Or at least have the pose change be optional. I've taken to turning off the power and turning it back on to keep the pose going.
Can this Travel Power change also be applied to the other existing Travel Powers which follow this rule? For example, how about changing Light Speed and Rainbow Flight to match this system? The only reason that I haven't purchased those powers from the C-Store is because I loathe their built in soundtracks.
Now, in the past you used to be able to argue that the munitions PRs had strength on them for the knockback synergy in the set, but since that's rolled into ego now there's literally no reason to have strength on a munitions character unless you're being silly and using enrage.
So, Ame? Can we start folding/changing the strength on those items into dex? Or heck even Rec would be way more useful than str.
Oh, also, still can't see stats on any of the pistol replaces because their tooltip is like 5 feet long and goes off my 24" screen even in portrait mode...
/signed (i dont use the power, but still, I think it would look much better that way)
Dearest Rob.
Did you ever know that you're my hero. That you are the wind beneath my wings?
Now about interchangeable poses between regular flight so we can use it with the heroic flight trail effect . . .
This would be much harder.
Really?
Obviously I defer to you since that's your thang.
But, why not make the effect of hero/power be an unlockable effect which can be added to one pose or the other, instead of being specific to just one pose? Is it because the lightrail effect it totally fixed to the pose and would look disjointed with the light trails coming from air intend of from the hands?
I could see that. I was under the impression the effect was attached to an emanation point regardless of it's position.
I mean, each Jetpack has different emanations too, which is why some of us though changing poses wouldn't be that onerous.
But still, if there's anything, anything at all that could make using original flight pose with the light effect, even if the trails did not look perfectly in alignment I'm sure tons of people could live with it.
Heck, I'd Purchase it separately if it had to be handled as it's own (new) flight power.
Does this mean we aren't getting the Golden Age costume set tomorrow?
From what I understand, it is not an issue of effects, but rather animation.
If a power does not have an emanation point option, that's because the animation is hardcoded into the power. There is no internal functionality to either expose this animation to the player, nor swap it on the fly. Since the powers all depend on very specific animations to fit within their activation times (etc), even if you could swap out one animation for another the probability of it looking strange or "off" is high. This may not be such a big problem with flight poses, but still doesn't make it easily accomplishable.
TL;DR
New animations for pre-existing powers are easier to accomplish by making whole new powers with alternate animations.
Edit:
Also, this is what I have gathered from 2 years of alternate animation requests and Cryptic responses on such matters. I could potentially be misremembering or misinterpreting, but the answer has always been "our powers are not set up to handle that."
Looking at the calendar, it's been pushed back.
While it would be much harder, I think it would be worth the effort. If I could use the pose on existing flight powers (including the CTPs), I would have bought the new heroic flight, but since I can't, it went into the pass pile.
Because the c-store doesn't get updated until the live c-store gets updated.
Ahhh... so it will be going live without being tested by players and receiving our feedback first, then...
Good thing I trust Tumerboy to do a good job
Like every other c-store item, yes.
Because it's not that easy. Also, just as a reminder - this is one of the main reasons we don't like Zero Point Advantages. "If Power X can have it, why can't powers A, B, and C?" Because they aren't all made the same, and they don't all work the same behind the scenes. The other main reason being the amount of additional support needed for them. We want to provide more customization options for many things in game, animations and sound included, but this is a long term task, and not something we'd be happy providing directly through ZPA's, or everyone would have dozens of ZPA's on their character, inflating their respec costs greatly, and increasing the amount of support/bug fixing needed for existing powers immensely, further slowing the release of new powers and power reviews.
As stated previously, outside of the price reduction on the Acclaim Power Replacers, and making them BoE, we are not doing an actual review of Power Replacers at this point. They need to be reviewed game wide, not just the Acclaim pieces are in need of help.
Yea that's more or less what I reasoned when thinking what would make such a "seemingly" simple thing hard. Essentially you have to create the lightrails effect from scratch to fit the specific pose. Or something.
That's reasonable.
But like you said, the pose is not animated per-se, it's a mostly static pose and like Dardove said, very well worth the effort.
But, I'm not there, I'm here. So just take this as uneducated but obnoxiously lavish customer feedback. : P
[*]Heroic Flight: The fanfare music on activation is now a 0-point advantage
[/QUOTE]
Yaaaay. I was worried it was just going to be gone completely. Thanks for keeping it as a ZPA. Even though I may be in the minority here, I LOVE the TP sound effects
Is this type of an investment something you are happy with? Did you expect us to attain 326 in each superstat in future levels as a reason for the existence of these objects?
Future itemization without further levels?
Why are they here?
Throwables? Please? ZA has a few very small throwables, and last I checked, KotH had only a few to none.
LOFTS (YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!YaY!)
COSTUMES (Ok, now THAT's...$$$...FUNNY!)
And lastly...TRAVEL POWERS:
You do realize the can of worms this opens/precedent this sets right? Aaannnddd it begins  Seriously Ame, you can't honestly tell me you didn't expect this?
First "Id Blades" and now this?
You have to roll out the tech that allows players to choose "cosmetic options" at the tailor (mentioned during the Id Blade ZPA debate) soon, or you're going to have alot more problems like this.
And to be honest, it doesn't matter if it's "hard" or "difficult".
When you provide one service for a power, you've got to expect to provide the same service for them ALL.
That reminds me...
...Where's my "shrinking" power?
Because they intended to raise the level cap, then CO bombed, they went away, and now we have actual good dev leadership but no resources, yet, to get the level cap raise done.
I'm sure he did expect it but in this case the sound state was an existing option and was removed.
They probably want to add customization but can not yet.
Cosmetic options should be handled at the power window not tailor BTW, though it would be great to be able to have a specific set of power window accessed customizations per costume.
It would be a great thing for CO if PVP replaced SL farming, and making the prices and statistics the best they can be would be worth taking slow. If it worked people could level entirely by player-created spontaneous PVP content and queues would be fast.

The pvp gear that is equal to SL gear isn't good enough.
Also a price change would be appreciated: http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=137628
1. Perception Primaries and Secondaries with either 200% Perception plus stats or 100% perception with single stat and two stat variants. Stronger than SL Elite.
2. Single and Double stat dodge and + Def primaries.
3. Buffs 36s to 38 to match the 98s.
4. Lower Prices!!!
5. Give us the single stat secondaries in their other slots not just the one. Example I want a 38 Ego in Sec Def not just Sec Utility.
6. Better stat splits. I wouldn't mind a % 70/30 or 80/20 Dex/Str or Str/Con Prim Of as an example or the same thing but Ego/Int Primary Utility.
7. 20 dex/20 ego Sec Def. Meets slot restriction so do it and do it now.
8. Sec of Single and double stat better than SL elite critical severity pieces too plox.
Never Never gonna get it
I've put them up here, so you can take a look.
http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Hero_Games_Upgrades
for example, old primary defense items are named mask while the new mask upgrades are secondary utility.
I just figured that it'd be good as a sort of starting point, considering the sheer number of totally useless PRs in the game, fixing them in little chunks over time seems like it would be easier than trying to go through all of them at once. Rolling them out on a per-type basis might be a good idea, munitions, blades, energy projector, etc...
Unless you suppose you guys might go with a new system for them altogether like with there being a new Power Replace gear slot in addition to the current slots and just get rid of the bonus stats on them altogether making them purely cosmetic and damage type/mechanical changes.
yes, and how is life looking on that front? some *chime in here people!* consider this a hugely wasted part of the game! I'm afraid to try them in case I love them! can't upgrade, can't get good stats, but they're soooooo cool.
That's just mean
eg: armor piercing for munitions, fire blades for MA, etc.
- No fanfare is a big plus
- At maximum speed (3rd stage) with both hands in front, the body is not automatically angled in the direction of travel. Flying straight up or straight down still has the body at something like 45 degrees inclination relative to the direction of gravity. This looks VERY odd.
- Choosing the same colour as for Light speed does NOT produce the same colour on the trailing particles, i.e. the streak. I was personally hoping to make a hero leave the same trails regardless of whether I'm running or flying.
I'd love to see either this or else a Power Replacer gear slot that does nothing but sets a bunch of powers to a specific type of damage. Talk about a dramatic increase in customization. Instead of the devs having to create a fire melee, ice melee, whatever set, they just create a power replacer that changes melee to those types.
