I parked from 9PM till 3:30AM in Canada, and every single instance where it ended was specifically because of players killing the spawners. So while it may not be the case for everyone, since people are stating they are suiciding, it was certainly the case in every instance I was at. Previous to that I was in MC for around 3 hours, and it was also the case there every time.
The only things suiciding were all of the invaders "after" people killed the spawners.
Every single invasion started with the zone being flooded with people saying do not kill them, and every single invasion ended with the chat being flooded with people going "WHY ARE YOU ATTACKING THEM, STOP IT." In one instance, the spawn lords were actually killed by someone who already had the perk reward flying around with him. Went from one to the next.
On the bright side the last two, lasted around 45 seconds to a minute and I managed to get 40 kills in a productive group and recieve the perk.
One of the teams I was with noticed an intresting pattern. They were switching instances following 18, 1, 8, 10, 17, 7. I'm not sure why it was so limited but it worked.
Sometimes we waited less then 30 seconds for an invasion and sometimes 10 minutes but we just kept going in that cycle...
I to feel the event is broken, the first few days the bugs seemed to invade big time and was plenty to go about. But as the event carried on the spawns seemed to spawn only a few insects, then a few seconds after would get swarm leaders are landing, and maybe 10 seconds after that they would have been defeated and the mobs would all vanish. You was lucky if even got a hit on the mobs.
So was a few shy of getting them all yesterday for the perk, and with them spawning in such small quantities i felt would not achieve the perk, so glad i got most of mine when the event was working as intended at the start of the event.
But yes id say that it is a broken event and many may miss out on it due to the short duration that the mobs last for.
I wasn't able to play until Sunday. It proved to be too much of a pain to participate in this event, which is too bad. The destroid invasion was a lot more fun. I can live without the bonus stuff from this if they're only fixing future events and not this one. It's not worth all the waiting around.

Yes. I liked the destroid invasion. It was hard, but it was an INVASION, and if you were smart and you worked together, you could win. Once my guild had worked it out (which took us an hour), we took part in several takedowns of mega destroids. We had good info on the qularr event, and I spent 3 hours getting the champion perk, as did one of my guildmates. The others bailed after the first half an hour, since camping for the spawns (even with a sequence list that gets you something every 5 mins) is very boring.
The qularr were far more threatening in the tutorial area. That's not good.
We got some good feedback on this; we'll be tweaking spawn rates (or have dynamic spawn scaling) on future events.
Now, when you say "future events", do you mean invasions through the end of HS, or after Sept 1st for another event(s) all together? Time is running short if it's for the HS...

This is the same behavior that I'm seeing.
When the head start first opened, a decent number of invaders would come down, and keep coming for a while. It used to be that I would see the invasion notification in the chat window, run over there, and still participate. Yesterday, I stopped even trying as 30 seconds after the initial invasion notification, the entire invasion was over.

Thats wonderful, but what about us who can't get any kills in or get one in, we've got iuntil the end of today to get our perk for that event, or it's gone for good is my understanding?
4 bugs every hour ( if i'm lucky ) means that i'd have to be online for 25 hours non stop to get the perk on just one of my characters.
I've given up on getting the kill 100 perk, the whole things a shambles - just one more thing that Cryptic has cocked up before the game even launches.

I was able to do it by 'instance sliding' -- I actually figured out the schedule per instance in Millennium City -- by my estimation, if it has stayed the same as yesterday, it should be hitting #30 in Millennium City right now -- followed by #31, then #34 at about five minutes of the hour...
Another key thing is to invite every player you see to a team -- if the option is there when you right-click on their portrait...
It was a pain, but I got the perk.
EDIT: If there are still instances numbered that high... population will probably be lower today...
I'm really disappointed in the invasion rate. Holiday invasions on COH worked fine. I've been on alot and my poor might character can't get in range before the target dies. I have 15 kills to show for the whole event and that's from being teamed.
I'd just like to say to Cryptic that if the intention was to make the Perk for fighting in the invasion difficult to obtain, I as a player would prefer that you up the limit to something ridiculious like 10,000 and most importantly make the invasion fun.
Jumping from zone to zone in hopes of camping the right zone to catch a 20-50 second invasion is not my idea of an epic event much less fun.
These invasions should be tough battles where a hero might actually go down and certainly lasts for several minutes if not half an hour. This at best is a mockery of an event. Make the events fun and playable in the future, please.

Calling this event an Invasion after the full assault of Destroids for the end of Beta event is just sad. The Devs showed players they have the ability to implement "Invasion" like events, and instead choose to make this lame pantomime of an event.
I managed to achieve it and I only casually played it. You have to group and instead of focus killing just tab and tag then repeat. Tag as many as you can instead of just killing everything it helps you, your group, and the other players. I averaged about 8 tags per battle the highest count I got was 14 mobs in Millenium city solo but only because it was pretty early in the morning.
It would of been nicer and slightly easier to obtain if the mob spawn times were half of what they were and NPC's looked like they were fighting it but not actually doing the fighting.
I did not realize I had to early start the Early Start event. I managed to rack up roughly 65 of my kills on Friday and decided to focus on leveling (and go back to finish off the Event yesterday or today). Instead, I only score 5 kills yesterday and 6 today, and this is with both solo'ing and teaming. This is insipid having to wait on the spawn point for hours for a couple of kills in a ten second frenzy of 'lock on, fire, hope it hits before they self destruct' "entertainment." I'll be very irritated/aggravated with this game if after how well the Destroid end of beta event played out (that was immensely fun) I end up not having the perk for this event because of this insta-death nonsense despite wasting time sitting my char on one spot when it could be doing other things (like leveling?).
I'll add that I've also seen the swarm leaders spawn and seemingly self destruct in mid-air as it's been noted by previous posters without seeing any other player's attack fire on them.
I'm at the point where I no longer care that this was an early head-start perk. I'd really like the devs to do one of the following:
Give the perks to all characters who participated at all in the event.
Extend the event another week.
Throughout the week (I live in Aus) I don't get much time to play (2-3hours a day maybe?). So I had a short weekend of the invasion, and I have to spend hours to get the perks? I just don't have that kind of time.
Would be great to see some more time for this one or rewards to anyone who participated, I know after 4 hours I am at a lowly 24/100 =(
But if not, it's definitely not the end of the world, (just the head start uber grind perk). =D

That would be fair, I think, since the event was so drastically different on Friday compared to Saturday/Sunday.
Unless the Devs tell us that the event went exactly as planned, nobody should be penalised just for not rushing to do the event on Friday.
Sure, you could get the 100 kills over the weekend - by camping for hours and instance hopping, which does not exactly make a fun event but rather hard work.
And no, I am not affected, I got my stuff on Friday.

I agree with this, if you killed one bug, give the perk since this has been broken since sat

Not to mention, people who have been blocked by technical problems. My account broke yesterday; the devs know, are working on it, but I can't log in at all. Probably more to the point, I'm not the first person to have this problem, by a long way...
I really wish the Devs would do something for the vast majority of head starters who got completely screwed by the hideous design of this event. Of course, since the Devs have already posted a reply to this thread I doubt they're still reading in here at all.

Ah, the trick to that is to kill the 100 in the training session.

That doesn't give you the perk, "Qularr Invasion: Champion" - for that, you have to kill 100 'qularr invaders', not 100 'qularr'.

This is the problem -- and I have watched it happen again and again -- the bosses just explode and die simultaneously. No one is attacking them...
