For the game itself.
It should be optional, obviously. Some games merely set up an official method through the google 2-step authenticator, and leave it entirely optional for those who want it.
Feel like having it as an option couldn't hurt anyone. The game has had some issues in the past with gold/key sellers, so having the option to at least increase the security on your game, especially when it offers a LTS offer, seems like something that should be taken into heavy consideration.
Some games even have a promo-style offer for people who take up the offer to 2-Step Authenticate. This feels reasonable as well, considering most people have the ability to set it up, and it at least adds added incentivising for a player to protect their account, if they're too lazy otherwise.
Most importantly though, it adds an extra layer of protection to your account, which you may've put hundreds of hours into.
Please consider it? It's a safety thing, and generally healthy for a game. I think.
