What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Pre-loading new games on my game list is not appreciated, thank you.

When I went to look at my list of games (the grid block on the left hand side of the ARC screen under your account name) I noticed a new game called Gigantic Core that I know I did not put there. When I clicked on it, I saw an install button and a news feed explaining what this new game is. It is a new MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena aka PVP 24/7, 365) that PWE just released. I do not appreciate this invasive tactic; if I am interested in a game I will install it myself. And yes, it can be removed but it should not have been put there in the first place. I hope this is not PWE's new tactic of getting people to play their games via ARC. The main news feed is enough.

I'm confused. If there was an "install" button, then it wasn't installed. I don't see the complaint. ARC's whole purpose is to advertise their other games. If you don't want that, don't use it, just load from the game's .exe file.

ARC already advertises games on their website. I always use the exe. file to load the launcher; that is why I am surprised I got the preloaded game. When I am ready to play another game, I will research and download it on my own. I dont need PWE/ARC to do it for me.

Again, if you have to press "Install", that means the game is not installed. They're offering it to you - in a rather aggressive manner, to be sure, but it's still just an offer, not something "downloaded" for you.

Right click the icon, remove, done.

Edit: That said, don't use Arc to launch CO because Arc is bloated and wastes resources. Direct-launch the game, default path should be something like:

    %programfiles(x86)%/perfect world entertainment/champions online_en/champions online.exe
(Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).

Well, that is not good enough reason to pre-load something onto my game list. Just because it is not "installed" does not mean I should ignore the fact that games are being put on my list at will nor should I willingly accept it. There are other ways of *advertising* a game that are not as invasive.

It is a simple matter of what is and what is not acceptable to each person. If you accept it, it's all good then.

But it is not acceptable to me; I think this will become worse as time goes by. How do I know if that game won't be pre-loaded again to "aggresively" continue to advertise it to me? In my opinion, this could happen at any time. Also, what if PWE/Arc decide to preload all of their games onto my list, only to reload them the next day if I remove them? I'm not taking this new move of "aggressive" advertising lightly or for granted. It will be "interesting" to see how far they take it.

I launch Arc seperately from CO to check out the news, keep tabs on my account, and to check out the forums for release notes and other things. From my experience with MMO's, I always keep an eye on my account for any *at will* changes. I do not remember seeing an announcement stating that the game is going to be pre-loaded onto my list so I can check it out. MMO's and online games can change things at will; this does not mean that I have to accept it or should not be wary of it. Yes, it is easy to get rid of but it should not have been there in the first place, in my opinion.

Oh, I check that stuff by visiting the website directly. Literally the only thing I use Arc for is to log on and jump through hoops for bonus Zen. Anyway, I'll agree that adding random games to the list is kind of annoying and lame, but I also can't fault them for trying to promote their games. At least it didn't force-install the entire game.

Personally, I'd prefer they promoted it by adding it to the "play this game on X different days" rotation. That way, people could discover it naturally rather than having it intrusively show up like it did.
