Bethesda wasted a golden opportunity of having a battle over Atlantic between Connie and Prydwen.
They alredy went full Revolutionary theme with possibility of the Minutemen beating BOS* but if it were possible to "sink" Prydwen with a full broadside it would be even better. ;/
*) - A feudal-themed faction led by guy named Arthur travelling on the ship named after the Arthurian legend. Very "subtle", Bethesda. VERY. Well played, lol.
Now featuring .50 BMG anti-materiel rifle, from Gun Runners with love.
That's it. BOS are now my officially designated butt-monkeys the same way the Enclave and the Legion were in previous games. Their dying words are too fun to not blow them up again and again.
Pros:
Building robots is fun. You can customise Codsworth (or Curie, but I'm pretty sure you'll lose her modifications with old body after she's upgraded to synth.
You get some additional dialog lines as the Silver Shroud.
You get a new lair for your character.
...and two radiant quests.
Also, another faction of Raiders to kill.
Built robots are basically customisable companions like Dogmeat, their dialogues are generic, so if you don't care about companions and their likings - they're handy mooks. Except they're more useful than Dogmeat.
Cons:
It's very short.
Weapons introduced in this DLC simply suck. They're very weak compared to vanila weapons, so better get some unofficial mods for them. Otherwise they're good only for show.
No additional lines for the Brotherhood or the Institute characters. You'd expect that both factions who are heavily into tracking unaligned technologists or scientists will have something to say, or at least you will have... Alas, everything but the Silver Shroud is a generic dialogue same for any player character.
You can't take your favorite companions with you, unless they're robots. You will need a DLC companion to get past some door, so it's not possible with vanila companion limit (I suppose you could upgrade Curie or Codsworth, but no other companion will be able to open the door for you).
I spammed so many painted white robots and synth relay grenades everywhere that I wouldn't be surprised if there was nearly as much (or even slightly more) Institute robots than settlers in the Commonwealth.
But that's ok, because settlers are useless poinless parasites anyway (morons can't do any farming job on their own, even placing a single carrot, have to be babysit 24/7), so replacing them with robots is only an improvement.
Though Wasteland 2 Directors Cut turned out to be more buggy than a Beth game not to mention none of the NPC's bio pics looked like their in game model :I
They kinda backed out on the whole "Use your likeness for a character" and instead went with "Oh crap we're running out of time, now it's just 'use your name for a character'."

Better be cool cat than be square.
Too bad they can't be recruited into Minutemen. I could use some PA support from thinking faction.

Tl;dr:
Join the Institute.
Be a Royal A-hole and embrace it hard.
I haven't done the DLC yet... I'm actually not that hype about getting a big dumb robot follower.

Dumb robot followers are the best because they're like Dogmeat on steroids - totally drama free.
They kinda backed out on the whole "Use your likeness for a character" and instead went with "Oh crap we're running out of time, now it's just 'use your name for a character'." You shut your mouth part.
This topic was a rant way before I turned it into a off-topic thread..
