Well it was just announced that Disney is closing the PotC MMO next month. Unless they are already planning on making a new and improved version(which I hope they are), Cryptic should really consider making a bid at that license.

An advantage is only an advantage if other people dont have it. If other people can get it without spending any money, then it isnt an advantage. And since you can get it without PAYing for it, it isnt PAY to win.

I'm not sure. It probably depends on exactly what you are doing to earn them, since certain quests are faster to complete then others. However, every MMO I have played requires lots of time to get the top end gear. Whether its doing dozens of raids or grinding NPCs for a rare drop, it still takes lots of time. So I dont…

I gotcha. However, there is one major flaw with your logic. If I am able to get a mount from the game store without spending a dime, by trading AD for zen, then I'm not paying anything. Therefore it cant be P2W if I can get it for free. That would make it "Free 2 Win".

This doesnt answer my question. Pay to win...what? What are you winning by having something that is a little better than someone else? I guess if you are PvPing it might make a difference, although PvP is rarely 1 vs 1, so your entire group is going to make more of a difference than a specific piece of gear your wearing.…

Pay to win...what exactly? I mean, maybe buying something in the game store will help you level faster, but even so what have you "won" by getting to max level faster than someone else? That just means you get to be bored sooner than the person who is still leveling.

That was only 1 part of the reasoning that concludes it has launched. Equally important is the fact that there will be no character wipes. It is when you combine both of those that it becomes undeniable that the game is launched, and the 'no character wipes' point has nothing to do with the kickstarter games you mentioned.

This is a F2P game so there is no "retail version". However the game's cash shop is up and running as of yesterday, so the game is live as of yesterday.
