  • Well, for the sake of the reputation of Perfect World, Cryptic, Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, and other corporations, it would be best for them to disassociate themselves from any scammy survey companies.
  • I like the concept of "Open Beta". The formative stage of any project is vital. Opening it up for as much input and from as many points of view as possible, is a good idea. It makes a more robust game in the long run. There are many players who are already finding enjoyment, even at its early stages, and knowingly spend…
  • If the intention of "open beta" is to integrate player input while the game is still in its formative stage, I see it as a positive.
  • Sounds good to me.
  • MMORPG.com posted their Neverwinter Review today, "An Astral Diamond in the Rough" they call it: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/634/view/reviews/load/271 I think they gave the game as it is now a pretty fair review, though I think they could give the devs a little more credit for addressing major exploits quickly…
  • Heh. Yeah, that part is kinda funny.
  • Yeah, that would have helped. I totally agree. Plus, resurrection is appropriately a Cleric thing. That would be cool.
  • Heh, no, your post was in the "general hostility" category: "Just get over it and try not to die". The veiled insult category was the preceding post: "It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out". No big deal. Just pointing out, there seems too often unfriendliness. This is supposed to be a fun place to be, right?
  • Well, the real reason is reallife economics. The psychology is to accustom the online customer to "different currencies", thus making it easier to reallife money as just another kind of currency.
  • Look, I have never played an MMO. The reason I am playing Neverwinter is because of D&D. I have to say, the veiled insults and general hostility makes this community unappealing. Thick skin or not.
  • Ok, but this would have been nice to know in advance. It was bewildering to be left stranded, while still remaining on the team list. The fellow teammembers were strangers, who also didnt understand what was going on. The situation created a poor gaming experience.
  • I would love to be able to wear the shirt and pants as "fashion items".
  • I got the same message as the OP, but it was "Mindflayer", rather than "Beholder".
  • To confirm your experience with balance, quests became extremely difficult during the 30s, for me too. My Control Wizard chose spells that failed to work adequately (some spells like Storm Fury seem to do nothing ever), would die quickly in solos whenever surrounded by multiple high-damage attackers, often from eight to…
  • So, what elements do you specifically want in a game. Do you foresee Foundry being able to provide these elements at some point the future?
  • And this is a beautiful thread. I never played the Salt March module, and I look forward to your adventure, OP.
  • Heh, the artists and developers at WotC are beautiful. But the legal team there is a stupid panicky animal. Heh. It seems to me, it is impossible for WotC to "condone" extraordinary use of their copyright material because they need to "enforce" ownership of copyright material. On the other hand, there seems to be a high…
  • Wait. Whats the difference between an "Elf" and a "Wood Elf"? where is this "Elf"?
  • Obviously I have tried isolating aggro. The problem is, when I fight one aggro other aggros are often joining in, even from a great distance away. The problems occur mainly in locations where the only route is thru a population density. One weird thing I saw was: An archer attacked me from long distance away. My Manatarms…
  • What you say is inaccurate. First of all, aggro can spawn, in which case, no, you cant go back. There are also times when there are monsters to the left and monsters to the right. You slip to the right and the ones to the left seem to leave you alone, ... until a fight breaks out with the ones on the right, and then ones…
  • If they do that, then the aggrevation I have now will be worth it.
  • LOL, my Wizard has stood still on top of a rooftop, and still attracted massive aggro.
  • Besides, teleporting is great against a single target. But teleporting isnt all that effective against aggro. Even if you teleport away, the aggro still moves with you attacking you at about the same speed that you are teleporting. You can get a second or two breather but this in itself doesnt help if the Wizard lacks a…
  • If you are surrounded by neighboring aggro in every direction, then the worst thing you can do is teleport because you merely add yet another group of aggro to the one you are trying to flee from. The excessive aggro usually happens in locations where the monster population is dense. These are the same places where…
  • Besides, I dont want the Wizard to be a boring class where all players must choose the same spells or die. I want an interesting diversity of Wizards, doing different kinds of things, and all of these possibilities to be viable.
  • There are situations where teleport isnt feasible. Especially, tight spaces that are surrounded by neighboring aggro. There is nowhere to teleport to, or else teleport from aggro into even more aggro.
  • The thread started off noting how squishy the Wizard is, and that is still true. But it quickly became apparent, Wizards that optimize as a Striker build are viable. Likewise the Rogue is somewhat squishy, but by means of massive damage, can eliminate threats. Even a hybrid Striker/Controller build seems to work ok. The…
  • This thread is aware, using Arcane Singularity to cluster aggro together, then using massive area damage spells, is a good build using spells that work as the game designers intend. However, this Wizard doesnt have Arcane Singularity nor Sudden Lightning. So, the one-trick wonder isnt in play in this case. This game is in…
  • Everything in the quote above becomes irrelevant when it says "group". My Controller Wizard is in a solo quest. The Neverwinter game assumes solo quests. The gaming design for each control spell and for the Control Wizard as a whole, needs to work effectively in this context.
