It appears to be time to start up our Volunteer Moderator program for the Neverwinter Forums. So, without further ado:
We're looking for two moderators to join our volunteer team of community moderators!
If you're interested in joining the volunteer moderation team, please file a community ticket, with the subject "Neverwinter Volunteer Moderator Application", and let us know your account name, timezone, any relevant experience you may have, and why you'd like to join our team of volunteer moderators. Note that if you do not include this information, your application will be disqualified.
We will be accepting applications until Monday, August 27th, and will contact qualified candidates for a brief online interview. Once the interview process is completed, we will notify the community of whom our top choices are, and post a poll allowing community members to vote for who they would most prefer to fill the given the positions. This poll will last for one week. This is assuming that we have more qualified candidates than we have openings. Winners of the poll will then enter a 30-60 day probationary training period where they will work with us to learn the ropes.
It is important to understand that volunteer moderators are completely unpaid. Volunteer moderators are in no way required to work any specific hours, meet any quota, and may post as much or as little as they choose to. They are not paid in any way, shape, or form, and do not receive any compensation or perks for the time they choose to spend moderating the forums.
Should you be selected to become a moderator by the community, you may choose to leave the position at any time you choose, and may be removed from the position by the PWE Community Team at any time if deemed necessary.
Yay!!! +1 to stromshade!
We finally getting mods to necro the threads
I wish I could have applied too but for coming months I won't be able to lurk and post on forums as I do now(some might have already noticed my decreased presence). But I hope we get really active mods.

Well, submitted a ticket to Customer Support -> Forums and Website, hopefully that's the right section. Let's see how this works out, hopefully there isn't a deadly campaign for votes, I'd hate to go into smearing and all that b:sin
but yeah, I would have liked to try that out too. At least it gives a reason to read all posts. But got a few knots in real life which have to sort out first ...
And I am not leaving, would still be lurking around (with less frequency). By December I will be here full throttle to try the game with all you buddies ^^

Oh man, I hope truthseeker returns in time for this! Such a good candidate.
How much does the job pay? Is this a salary or hourly position? I have most of my weekends and nights but I do tend to sleep in on mornings until the afternoon.
Is there a 401K plan? Major medical and dental? I would need office with southern view of the sky overlooking a river... mountains would be nice. I would need private parking spot, not for my car since I don't drive. It is just a prestige thing. Sign on my office door should read "Blargskull Moderator". I would also require a personal assistant.
Thank you, look forward to the opportunity of work with you.

Oh heck yeah! You even get your own shiny new 8x10, laminated of course, so you can give to family and friends!!
Sadly, your business card order will have to wait until the kobalds can figure out how to get to you............. Enjoy your new... post!!!
The Truthseeker, gillrmn, and aandre would have my vote if I am entitled to a vote and if they are interested either now or later life issues allowing.
As long as the person is impartial and not agenda driven I'm okay with whoever being a Mod but I honestly don't think anyone representing a guild should be considered.
Meh, I've been once a moderator on an official game forum - Disciples 3, but it was frustrating - there was 0 dialogue between the admnistration (devs) and moderators. I finally resigned after yet another crusade to make them active on englis-speaking part of the forum... but I hope it all goes well here. It's just a warning though - you'll feel responsible for the activity on the forum and might be frustrated about it.
I might have given my candidature here long time ago when I created those "idea" and forum navigation topics, but right now I sadly have no time.
One more thing! Don't give votes on ppl who did not gave their candidatures! Don't force ppl into it.

LOL god no!!! b:chuckle
Seriously the very last thing I or anyone else wants to see is a mod on a power trip and I just get the feeling that some of the forum regulars would go down that road fast....Volunteer mods are always always a double edged sword and can end up really polarizing a community.
Well, that's what Stormshade asked for: volunteers. But it is the community who will pick from those volunteers. Personally, I think we waste time here writing "I would vote for andre, grimml, stormdragon, etc. if they would agree" when they have not. And I haven't seen truthseeker for a long time...
I appreciate the votes but I really do not have the time or the initiative to moderate the NW forum. I have moderated several forums before (for Sony and HP to name two) and already know the ropes. I am always 100% fair, and thorough.
However, my main interests at this time are to ensure our guild has solid representation in the realm, and to help other guilds get started and prosper. This is my calling.
Now the poster who recommended to ban anyone in a guild the chance to become a volunteer moderator is not right. The two have nothing to do with each other. On the flip side, the moderators chosen must not "play favorites." They need to understand the forum rules and uphold them fairly and uniformly. I'm sure Stormshade will train whoever is chosen well, and ensure they do not take sides in any way, shape, or form.
I will remain a strong advocate for this game, help this community in any way I can. I prefer marketing to moderation any day of the week Best of luck to those chosen!

Wow guy thanks for mentioning me, I have a ton on my plate right now and I'm planning to port my NWN Shadowhaven campaign to Neverwinter in some form... that being said; I honesty don't know how much time I could devote to it and will most likely not even apply, though I have a couple in mind that I think would do a great job...not going to mention names in case they want to avoid it all together.
Also sorry of some folks feel my opinion on not permitting mods who are attached to guilds to participate isn't right, but it comes from actually being paid for being a Mod and consulting with companies like Turbine (during their Microsoft days) and SOE. I think that experience is valid.
Being a mod doesn't means that you are "off the hook" from forum rules. They will still apply to even the mods(or anybody else). (Maybe more strictly)
But it is still a sacred job in which you necro threads (junk and duplicate threads) to keep forums clean.
Take it easy :-)
We have a very decent community here. We remind each other when going to red zone, and it is always good to have people who disagree with each other (keeps the fire alive).
*casts spell of forgetfulness*
Forget the last comment lest it goes to your head :-p
EDIT: Yeah, missing truthseeker who is out searching the universe for greater truths. Forums seems less active without him. Will try to get in touch and let him know that whole community misses him. Hopes he finds us again :-)
EDIT: lol, ryvvik - don't share secrets of time-space continuum. It may cause a paradox!

Not really sure that constitutes bickering more of a point counter point which I think is a sign of a healthy community...but whatever.
And my point is demonstrated nicely in this thread to anyone who can look at things objectively. I know the problems we had in AC when a paid moderator was affiliated with one of the larger guilds and I think it something cryptic should look at, it isn't the end of the world if they take the suggestion or not.
^ Yes, such conspiracies have to be uncovered! So community can keep an eye on them
Also, I will not tell who I am voting for to not alter the opinions of others.
(ok, you can boo me)
But I think a mod should be someone who lurks the forums a lot, writes politely and reminds people of rules. Thee can only be two mods and people I want to vote are a bit more...

LOL No one is saying it's a conspiratorial thing...not sure why you are going there I simply gave an opinion..... guess it more of the No drama drama that goes with the TP sig.
But as I said thanks for demonstrating my point. I can't see how anyone wants a guild that shows up with multiple members challenging everyone that disagrees with them having mod powers.
I do agree with you on what a Mod should be though I would just add that they need to be a neutral party that reminds people of the rules privately not publicly.

/shrug.
That's a shame. But lets be fair, let's look at the other side of the coin. Can you tell me how many forum moderators you've seen that were members of guilds that were honest and fair, and good at their job? I know I've seen quite a few, paid and unpaid that were honest folk. It's not like you can promote your guild in any fashion, you have a community title and you have a job to do.
By the way, Jerry and Tolero of DDO fame were active members of guilds when hired by Turbine and remain active players in guilds. Jerry is still the moderator and Tolero is the lead community rep. They've been outstanding.

I'll be focusing my time on building our guild and creating a fun environment for us to enjoy the game.
I might very well be interested in a sales/marketing position with Cryptic however, that's more up my alley

Just no to andre. He gets too wrapped up in some bickering to be a mod. Just my humble opinion. Sorry andre. I like ya but.......yeah.
