Portobello's Campaign: Treasures of the Dungeon Master

[...] My rationalization is in the wording:
Its a "rare instance" to find beholder tank, compared to "a good chance" to get an apparatus during the Gond event. Since "a good chance" actually means "You will never get one" (because I tried and it didn't happen - a lesson I will never forget after taking 3 years of assembling Gond junk), then it's simply pointless going after it. [...]
Basically it's a fun event, just don't do it for the rewards. Life's too short for a bunch of pixels that might or might not be there. :)

Yes. My personal opinion on how to tackle f2p incentives is: Just go with the flow, take what you find while you adventure. Do a little hunt sometimes for something (dang, I *want* that Lolth Robe for my drow wizard, buuut it may just not happen!), have a little grind for what seems useful here and there, be a good citizen and pay for your entertainment, and else just enjoy whatever you like of what is given.

The PRNG as the final key to some valuable loot chests to me is rather unforseeable: I got power points on all level ups except one; I found an Eye of Lathander on my third try with adamantium gauntles; I open lock boxes every day and only ever got a Drowned Weapon set for my only level 70 character; one coal ward on 10 characters praying for some month; when it says 25% upgrade chance I usually need 8 tries, then there is alchemy profession with lots of failed experimentations so I keep making potions; and so on.
This is so mixed pickels that I am out of expectations on any lucky stuff. It even turns upside down: I am actually happy to NOT recieve any coal wards, since otherwise I would have to throw those uhm /how many million RP was that again?/ into an item that I feel I don't need or don't want (like those visuals on weapon and armor enchantments) to be upgraded. I'd rather adventure foundry or a new character and skip the high end stuff. To me, it is the journey that makes an adventure, not the reward.

Back on topic: I will be on lookout for the easter egg. If I happen to stumble across it, well nice. Meanwhile I just enjoy the table top resembling adventures and wonder what Portobello's (and Asterdahl's and anybody else creating the campaign) wicked dungeon master mind might have had on mind.

And as for hints given, as an example: I could not find Lans Thuliaga's Weapons in Whispering Caverns, given it shall be found where Mindflayers are. My hunter went to the last part of the map which is where a lot of Mindflayers are. I needed two30's spoiler on it for help in finding the location.

The clue says, "It hasn't been confirmed, but there are rare instances...". Could the clue be in the instances? Maybe you change instances or do something with instance hopping? Or you queue from a weird instance? I don't know -- I play on Xbox, but it seems like the code hasn't been cracked yet and this could be worth checking.

One has now been found. I was in the Artificer's Workshop at the time the Official Message popped up. 10:47pm GMT. It was a drop from inspecting the Beholder. The lucky winner has now placed it on the AH for 100 Million AD. So speculation over.....for now.

Next question: will it appear in the Zen Store so everyone can get one....or will this be the one and only time it is available in the game ?

I just saw a lockbox-style announcement for someone finding one in the Artificer's Workshop. There are a couple for sale. More expensive than all the other legendary mounts, yay.

So, since getting one from the event (not the campaign... the event) is the usual RNG BS... is it appearing in the Zen Store category of collections something where Cryptic is going to say, "oops, that was a mistake, our bad"?

Guess I can *stop* grinding now.

Although... I would really like to know why Artificer's Workshop has been out for over a week but the mount is only just surfacing now.

Ahso. So the clear path to the easter egg wasn't clear at all. Instead it was pretty clear. And now, I guess, everbody is running Artificer's Workshop from dusk till dawn? If so, happy hunting!

Guess I can *stop* grinding now.

dito, albeit I wasn't /grinding/ anyway. I guess 10 or so visits will lessen the chance on chance close to never.

When most adventurers trying the newest dungeon for a chance on the easter egg, unlocking in the second latest?

I do find it intriguing that in the collections there is a sentence on this particular event that reads, "Completing this collection will give you an additional bonus of [star]10."

That language is not (at least currently) present on ANY other event set. It is present in some of the other categories under zone rewards. And the fact that someone apparently got one as a drop from the Workshop might make my theory totally useless, but it is something to consider...

Doesn't mean squat. Completing any collection gives a certain amount of bonus (I think the old interface used to display it as an x/y value).

Newer additions have that text and older collections that haven't had a lot of work done on them lately don't. That's all it is.

Ok it says in the news you could grind it out and still get the dagger artifact the last week, I can't get a blank report card to drop and I have been at 400 aa's for the last hour. I just need 2 to finish. It says it drops in all parts of the game? What's going on?

Never had trouble with it, but they are random. Probably best off doing one of the challenge with lots of killing.
