I voted Other because I couldn't vote for all of the above or It depends where my Headspace is. but if I HAD to narrow it down I'm a metalhead/punk/grunge type of guy, mainly.

It depends on my mood, overall I listen to guitar based rock most. It's easier to describe my LEAST favourite type of music, which is Mongolian throat singing. Some of My favorite artists are Manic Street Preachers, Therapy?,Penguin Cafe Orchestra,David Bowie, The Prodigy, Queen,The Rolling Stones, Louis Armstrong, Prince,Madness. I've a wide taste and I like to think I'm not limited by genre but my own enjoyment.
Very glad that there is a song out there for every change in my mood. ... since that changes a lot in a day.

I've been playing mixes from 8tracks.com pretty much constantly for the last week or so. Couple tracks that have stood out as "why have I never heard this before?'
I would add, in my case, industrial ( FGFC820 , RX , ) , progressive or similar ( Tool, Perfect circle , Disturbed ) , power ( Iced Earth , Blind Guardian ) and maybe bands like : Blackmore's Night. I am a girl , what can i say, it rocks.
I'd have to say 80's rock, but it also depends a lot on my mood. Sometimes I like classical, sometimes I have a craving for Motown, sometimes Rave, sometimes Electronica, sometimes swing. The only two types I can't stand (off the top of my head) are country and rap.
Lately I've been listening to some instrumental music for relaxation. I came across this website that has some really good stuff: https://incompetech.com/ It has a lot of genres, basically depending on what struck the composer's fancy, but a lot of it is pure genius.
(I personally like Adventure Meme, Carefree, Itty Bitty 8-bit, Monkeys Spinning Monkeys, Ouroboros, Pamgaea, Sunflower Dance Party, Run Amok, and The Builder, but your tastes might vary )

I have everything (and I really do mean everything) in one form or another on my iPod. There are over 5000 songs on it. Which I keep on shuffle. And you know what? It NEVER plays the type of music I'm in the mood for.
Driving home from work, I want something loud and kind of aggressive - Classic Rock, Punk, maybe a dash of Metal - it plays opera, musicals and Cher (my iPod loves Cher there are a total of 8 Cher songs on it and it always tries to play at least 1)
Bopping around town on the weekends I want some 80's music, maybe some techno, a bit of club music - it plays soft rock, Mexican folk music, ballads.
I'm in the mood to sing, I want Musicals, or songs that are easy to sing - it plays techno or movie scores.
Rainy day I want something a little calmer, folk, soft rock, emo, Morrissey (lol) - here comes the metal and hard core rap.
My iPod loves me almost as much as this game - lol
