Use more powers...

I love the Neverwinter and love all the powers. I wish we were able to use more powers instead of the limited number. I would love to see more slots for powers to be used. We have an amazing variety, I just don't like being limited.

This is a core function and won't be changed ;)

This has been requested quite a bit back in the day. I suspect this never happened because Cryptic had already planned to port it to consoles at some point. Various comments range from a lot things, but (rolls eyes) the overall consensus seems to be that people like only using (or spamming) 1-3 powers all the time even though they have access to 10+ powers. Go figure.

No, they like the fact that being limited forces advance tactical strategy.

A lot of us would like an out-of-combat switchable hotbar as a convenience feature though.

To me, having 4 powers and a class mechanic feels perfect. I would really hate it if they added more powerers. Imo this is what Tera does wrong, and this is why Neverwinter has the best combat system.
What they could do is create a system where you can do different combos with the jump+dash/dodge/block+power key. Though I think that would be too fancy for this game.

So, you mean like.. a CW? ;)

I like the combo idea though - STO does that with melee combat, but melee is such an afterthought in STO that it's hardly ever used. It's another item on the list of things that SHOULD be in Neverwinter, but aren't because (it seems that) the NW team didn't really actually consult much with the STO team - or if they did, it seems they mostly ignored them. There's a LONG list of things STO does - was doing for years - that NW should have launched with and didn't, and even in newer things like Strongholds, there features the stronghold simple should have (like inviting non-members to your stronghold instance and showing member contributions) that STO had when it first started starbases. It's clear there wasn't and still isn't very good internal communication between the teams. Normal sort of corporate silo, it's a shame given the size of Cryptic. If all this isn't true, then.. well, the situation is far worse because it indicates some of the most liked features of STO were intentionally ignored (and been requested since alpha in some cases... like private queues/lobbies for both pve and pvp)... Either way - it reflects very poorly on the management team. Not the devs, mind you - they don't set priorities... it reflects poorly on the producers, because they seem to have their own agenda and aren't interested in what we want. They SAY they are, but... you know... actions speak louder than words.

Anyway, sorry, I totally hijacked this thread with my little rant there... as you were :)

I don't mean just the Spell Mastery class mechanic. I mean all of them - Curse, Unstoppable, Stealth, and so on. I see them all as an additional power.
Of course you can combine some powers with certain manoeuvres, like jumping , to get certain effects, but I doubt those were intentional. What I'm talking about would be a more in depth system, though.

Already heard this opinion too and then someone said that "not having a switchable hotbar forces advance tactical strategy" too. This is the reason the game is the way it is today. You will *never* see hotbar swapping or extra power slots.

With one more power there would be little point in having at wills.

I'd like an extra encounter or two. The game would need to limit the number of powers that could be used within a space of time to counter the obvious advantages of such. I think it would add to strategy because you could switch from one set of rotations to another set of rotations as the battle changed from AoE to one-on-one (and back again if you stuff up). But, yeah, ain't gonna happen.
