The only problem I see with this poll is you are asking folks that are mostly already dedicated to playing Neverwinter as the large majority dont even have website bookmarked, never mind actually spending time reading and keeping up with it....

It's unbelievable to me just how many people are voting yes. You people are very easy to forget how we've come to the point where we want extra Rough AD and XP. We all used to have these things before M6 for free. They took them away from you and now they're selling them back to you. With 2 runs of PK you could reach the 24k AD limit just by salvaging drops, and you could end up with some refining stones on top of that. Just a few patches ago you didn't need XP boosts. They're giving VIP players discounts in the WB, when we've been saying the prices are too high for years. They're not giving you anything for free anymore. A few months later they'll nerf something else, then they'll come up with some golden VIP bs, then with platinum and they'll ask for more money just so you get the same experience that you used to get for free. Meanwhile the game is still broken is so many ways, but it's ok cause they've made a VIP program that gives you a little discount on keyes, so pay up!

Nah, I'm not doing it even though its a good deal. Certain parts of the rewards program feel like PWE/Cryptic are just selling things they took away in mod 6 and I'm just not cool with that.

    Here's the thing:

I, and I imagine many if not most of the people voting yes, aren't going to spend CASH on the VIP packs. No, we're going to throw all the AD we have in reserve on the Zax, and use that to buy a VIP pass.

We can complain about the game all we want, but our AD and our zen? That's here. We can't convert that to RL dollars. I'm going to buy 3 months of VIP pass, and if it turns out the game continues to flounder, so what? In order to abandon Neverwinter, I would have had to have ditched that 2700 zen anyway, so it's ultimately a no-harm no-foul scenario.

Basicaly I've been playing 41/2 months, for the first month cryptic got a 20, less than I'd pay for a new game, second and 3rd it got the 20 each month same about what I'd pay for a subscription This month, nothing, I didn't like the patches and I barely played. Provide me with content or maintain stability they get money, harm my playing experience, I withdraw my cash. Yeah it wasn't a huge amount and I'm not the whale they're aiming for, but the mass of Krill in the ocean dwarfs the weight of whales.

Oh for goodness sakes. Pony up 10 bucks. You get 30 keys. That same $10 gets you 10 keys right now.

Completely understandable, but for me it's a matter of principles. This kind of business practices is something I can not support. I'm all for a VIP program, but not like this. I'd buy 12 months of VIP with no second thought, if we were back in M5 before all the nerfs happened. You say there's no harm, but what's the message you're sending Cryptic? You're telling them it's ok. You're telling them they can get away with this kind of practice. In the end the game is harmed.

Purchasing a VIP pack for zen signals only that given the purchasing power of zen, it's a worthwhile deal.

The people who are "enabling" Cryptic to do what they do are the people buying zen for cash and then selling it on the ZAX.

A few years ago in another game I came to understand players, devs, and CEO all had differing agendas and they may not even coincide with the creators idea of what the Intellectual property may become.
This ain't the D&D we grew up with. This ain't the Forgotten Realms where Drizzt lives, This isn't the players world. The developers and story writers created a version of the world. And it was good, ok, reasonable. Then the bean counters stepped in.
A great example of the D&D Spirit was Baldur's Gate and BG2, replayable as released with various options for companions, each having several stories and side quests. Which spawned a very heathy mod community writing great quests.
I never once recall any RL DM or any D&D property before, asking me to repeat exactly the same quest again and again and again and again and again and again.. well you get the message.

So, what do you suggest for those who have AD and Zen at the moment?
    1. Quit the game. Zen + AD = garbage.
    2. Continue to play without buying VIP and pay more in long run. Keep on lobbying.
    3. Buy the VIP. Enjoy the benefit. Keep on lobbying.

As far as I concern, we can continue to lobby all we want, they will continue to do whatever they want.
I personally do not see how getting something for free (remember I said for those who have AD and Zen at the moment) means telling them they can get away with something.

Voted yes, it's a superb deal for the resources spent.

Definitely using in-game generated Zen, though even straight cash it's worth Rank 12 for 360 days... :)

Voted unsure mainly because I’m unsure if I’ll keep playing. This doesn’t fix any content problems. It slightly addresses the 60-70 XP grind but the extra 10% XP will stuff up 1-60 levelling. Nor does it directly address the issue of RP for artifact gear (if it did they’d be accused of pay2win). Cheaper GMOPs goes part way to making it easier to develop your toon and this is a selling point for me, but this doesn’t kick in until Rank 8 and the benefit is maximized at Rank 12 which makes it all-or-nothing for me. 10% extra rough AD from invoking is useful to me – I don’t work the system hard enough to ever reach the cap. RNG loot boxes have never interested me before; there are potential ‘business opportunities’ there but the market will quickly become crowded and the profits may be small; and this assumes things won’t suddenly become bound. It would be nice to have my own ‘shiny’ but I don’t need it. I have to log in to claim my key – why can’t it just deposit in storage somewhere automatically – can it be claimed through Gateway if I’m travelling? Same for ID scrolls. Lifestyle improvements are nice but I’ve lived without them until now. ‘No-AH posting fee’ gives additional storage indirectly but an extra account-wide bag or expanded bank-storage would’ve been nice.

The main thing is that Strongholds doesn’t really interest me but if I want to keep playing then I guess I’ll have to become interested in it pretty quickly. Or I can just keep plugging away at campaigns with my new l.70, run a few alts through 1-60 for kicks, and wait for the price of shinies and GMOPs to drop in the AH. And spend my ZEN on RP with coupons. Or go do something else.

In the end it's your AD/Zen, and, obviously, you're free to do with it whatever you see fit, but I said before, the VIP program includes some things that should come free, and even worse, it includes things that we used to get for free. Accepting to pay for VIP, with whichever currency you may chose, means you accept this kind of practice where they're nerfing the free part of the game, then selling it back to you for cash. If this turns out to be profitable for them - and it will - they'll do it again.
I think I've repeated myself enough. It's not even worth it at this point. This game has sank way to deep, so who the heII cares anymore? We lost this game long ago, when the C. Wards were made bound to account.

There are more than BIS players in this game
RIP Real Tiamat, RIP Real Demogorgon RIP real Temple of the spider. Why remove non bis content to give to bis players ????
FORCING the majority of your player base to play 4 mod old dungeons and trial will have a bad result on player base
Changes are getting so bad i would rather prefer no new changes (RIP ICE FISHING in winter fest)

In this case, you choose door #1 (Quit the game). Whoever choose door #1 will not buy VIP.
If you play the game, you kind of accept whatever practice they hammer down to you.
The only way to say "I don't accept it" is to quit like many others did.

Indeed, I shall be for the perks are just what I would like for my PvE playstyle in Neverwinter. The price is not only very affordable but also obtainable without spending any real money if one chooses, simply by selling in-game earned AD for Zen, which I also like.

meh.. I think you guys dont understand something.. bots and bot players can get anything they want in game.. because they can grind everything anyways.. 30 keys.. who cares for them, they can grind out enough AD for thousands of keys a year. 365 is nothing for them.

THIS specific package, is EXACTLY what alot of us non exploiters have asked for, a entry point system that offers REAL rewards without spending 2k at one time. (you know the ridiculous price of blood rubies)

I will be using VIP its a great deal, you basically get 1 cward a month, a few extra hundred k, for 10 bucks.. thats really good deal in the end, MUCH better then buying ten bucks and listing it on the exchange in fact.

$100 for a but ton of convenience. I spent 10 times that on one engine for a radio controlled plane , and get maybe 10 hours a month fun from it., that does not include the money I spent on other components.

    No
    No way.

I came back to this game (after joining during beta and finishing up on the early content) on MOD 6.

Had a TON of fun....then something went really wrong.

    MOD 7, bugs, stats, curves....deleted dungeons.....I was like....WTH ?!?!?!

Seeing old (as per older mod players) and new (ones I had during MOD 6) bugs untouched, the community's early outcry for returning some balance back (especially the warnings by people on the preview shard to not go on with some of the changes) was enough for me to decide to not put another dime into this.

As long as I had real fun with buddies I chipped in and was willing to support the game's development even more.

    No more though

This is a disgraceful money siphon in order to be able to cope with the game's content....

This is not FREE TO PLAY anymore.....it's PAY UP TO COPE UP....

I've found another game to have fun in, and grinding even lets you unlock all of its 13 classes which are even interchangeable while on quests without the need to log in or out.
Content scales exactly to your current level and stats. (something many people asked for in NW)

Ye....returning to an area where bosses had initially 50K hp, after you leveled up a bit...and you find them with 75K
    then 150K...
Their damage scales accordingly....come on NW devs....for real....

Giving money to it is mostly on cosmetics or if you wanna give a quick boost to unlocking some classes (you start with 3)

The GFX are great, the grind is worth which makes it fun to play....therefore making me willing to chip in to support further development.

Something I lost feeling while playing NW.

    Why am I here ?

Just came in to see the Strongholds patch notes.

And I'm frequently checking back every now and then to see if anything is worth doing anymore.

I wonder how many people realize it is a 1000zen/month subscription -- the instant their month of time runs out, so do all the benefits, no matter what VIP "rank" they've attained.

Cryptic's marketing is always extremely opaque on critical details.
  • pando83pando83 Member Posts: 2,564 Arc User

The keys you get right from the start (rank 1) are absolutely worth it cause AT WORST you get the coal ward+ stuff to sell, so basically you can have those 500k AD back one way or the other. 30 keys for 500k AD is a deal, no matter how you look at it, imho. I've just put 500k AD in exchange (1000 zen) and once it's converted, will give this VIP thing a try.
Then i'll see if it's wise to keep it active (which means, basically, converting 500k AD each time).
You basically get more benefits the more you activate it, cause your level doesn't decrease, it keeps raising no matter if you do not activate it for one month, if i got it right. So i can convert these 500k AD now, get rank 1, then if i feel like it, convert another 500k AD 2 months from now and get all the rank 1 benefits+ rank 2 benefits.

Sure thing, going for a first activation at least, is worth it.

We will see... If they actually FIX the lag in DR and WoD, reduce the amount of XP needed to lvl up, reduce the HP and damage dealt by the mobs, and bring back the dungeons.... I am ALL IN.. I will buy, no questions asked. Until that actually happens, not one dime will I spend on this game.
