What it is helping are those people that do not like PVP or will not PvP, and also that do not like dungeons. Those types of casual players or altoholics will benefit from the new armors. Some people prefer to only do the campaigns in the game.
I get that. However you will not be able to complete the campaign (boons) and still get the armor, because they use the same currency. If it would cost 10k ad instead of 6 ciphers, it might be different. But having to chose between getting the boons and getting the armor, the armor will never win.
I usually don't have a lot of time to play, so I do not get much chance to get on the test server. But, I am very interested in what they are doing to "fix" the game since Elements came out as I find large areas pretty much unplayable by casual players like myself. I was particularly interested in the new armor sets as I think this is a GREAT idea for bridging the gap between Spinward Rise and getting back to making IWD and ToD playable again.
My main character is a Level 70 rogue who had all 4 pieces of Templar armor, both level 60, artifact weapons (purple) and all of the rest mixed artifacts (blue). I consider this to be well geared (not the worst, but not the best). I have all of the boons, except the final ToD boon. I solo about 95% of the time as I am casual and do not always have a lot of time to play. I do not mind grinding as long as I can do so without the frustration of dying nearly every encounter.
In my opinion, I should be able to use this gear (or even a little worse) to conquer Spinward Rise and climb to level 70, which I did with caution. Once I completed Spinward, I upgraded the weapons to the level 70 artifacts as well as replaced all of my other artifacts with the Lostmauth set. I also have created the new rare elemental armor (all 4 pieces). I feel that I should be able to use this gear to progress.
Switching to the Elemental armor I can handle Sharandar and, with some caution, Dread Ring. In IWD and ToD, instant death!
In my mind, the Sharandar armor should be the equivalent to the rare crafted armor and should allow you to clear Sharandar at level 70 with a reasonable chance of survival and with a full set be able to easily clear Sharandar and survive the Dread Ring with caution. Then we should be able to move on to the Dread Ring armor which should be an upgrade to the Sharandar/Crafted armor. With all pieces of Dread Ring armor we should be able to easily clear DR and be able to survive in IWD. Then we ditto IWD and move into ToD.
What I am seeing is that the Sharandar and Dread Ring armor are roughly equivalent to the crafted armor. This means that even if I get it, I will still be hamburger in IWD. From what I can see with the IWD armor and it's upgrades through crafting, it appears that these will be sufficient to survive in ToD and IWD. The issue is surviving in IWD long enough to get the Black Ice to buy/craft the IWD armor.
So in my opinion again, to "fix" the game, bump the stats on the DR armor to make IWD survivable or nerf the mobs in IWD to make the Shar/DR/Crafted armor allow you to survive. That should take care of the issue. I have not tried the new IWD armor as I cannot survive long enough to get the black ice to buy/craft it.
This would seem to me to make everyone at least satisfied. The PvPers still have their route to good armor. The people with 27 hours a day to play will be able to get the new armors quicker. The casuals like myself have an avenue to get good armor.
Thanks for listening and giving me the opportunity to provide feedback.

Nice feedback.
IWD Survival Tips -
- Do the weekly (Biggrins Tomb) with a group, just say in /zone 'AB for Biggrins' or 'TT for Biggrins' depending on which faction you are.
- Kill 4 enemy adventurers for their Rune scrolls 0/4 and activate the golems 0/2 - Some of the enemy adventurers in OPVP are *deadly* (they have big blocky healthbars, stay away from them) .. There are different spawns that are easy to kill to get the scrolls. Look at their HP bars before you engage, the ones you want are wimpy.
- Mine 500 Black Ice in PVP - Tricky, but if you enter from the 'rear' of OPVP or do this early in the morning, you usually won't encounter anyone.
- Complete 1 Heroic Encounter - Just wait on the main road for either 'Protect the Merchant' or the Totem one on the ice. Eventually 2-3 people will be standing around waiting, and once combat starts, lots more will show up to help you finish it. [as long as you're on the main road, and they're passing by. ;D]
Do the Weekly/Daily and Safe Keeping.. Just keep getting your reputation up and worry about the other campaign currencies later. There's also an IWD chat channel, I think its 'IWD' ? /channel_join IWD and people will help you with your other goals.
NW-DSQ39N5SJ - 'To Infinity, and BEYOND!' - Spelljammer Quest. Skyships, Indiana Jones moments NW-DC9R4J5EH - 'The Black Pearl' - Spelljammer! Phlo Riders and Space Orcs
Thanks for all the fish.
In my opinion those prices are too high, however if its going to take a week + per peice it should be ilvl 130 like the blue gear t1 dungeons drops. Campaign gear should be an alternative gear path to dungeon gear, not just a stepping stone, and when they bring back the t2 Campaign dungeons, they can give parts of another epic endgame set with different stat allocation, Like they used too, but without set bonuses. It's nice too have more gear options. Some players I know hate dungeons, and some I know love them. this is why I feel the above is a good choice. This also allows them to reuse the detailed transmogs of the gear, and without worrying about set bonus can really focus the new gar on specialization for stats.
Perhaps in the compare gear area. it can compare what you ACTUALLY get (instead of saying -400 power, it says -1% damage. This is a very newbie friendly design choice and allows players who dont number crunch or really know stat curves etc. too know exactly what new gear will give them before they equip it, bind it, then salvage it because its not as good as they first thought it might be
The cost for this gear needs to be some different token not already factored into the cost of advancing the campaign, and it needs to be attainable in advance of finishing the campaign without doubling the completion time. Ideally, you'd be able to get all four pieces by the time your fourth boon rolls around.
Ideally you'd be able to get it faster than that. My OP had four pieces of T1 before he had any of the *third* boons(Which was IWD, actually, rather than DR or Sharanderp or ToD).
Psst. Devs. TR Executioner capstone. No worky. Fix plz.

Hate to repeat things if I'm just repeating things, but is Thayan Servitor supposed to have a helm for CWs? For some reason there's two sets of the same boots in the Dread Ring shop, but no helm item.

That appears to be true of all classes. Couldn't say if they'll manage to patch the patch before it goes live or if everyone will have to wait for the next patch for helms.
When is the patch to fix the broken items in this patch? For example not being able to access DR campaign store on HR, GWF not being able to buy DR iLevel 120 armor (shows CW armor), missing hp stats on the new Shandar iLevel 120 armor (helm and greaves)...etc.

My HR and several other characters are eagerly awaiting the missing/absent pieces to the DR armor set.

Hello, everyone. This is my first time writing for this game, so i am not sure if this is the right place for this discussion, but i would like someone who designs this game to see my message.
First of all i am playing this game since release. I liked the fact that when you were finally reaching level 60 you could use all the abilities you liked and you were the king in almost every aspect of the game. After a few months with a new character of mine i was in a satisfied level with my gear, not the best gear but mediocre. The only challenge for me was pvp. I liked the fact that you were using more your skills and ability, than gear even in big bosses and pvp, and all the rest of the enemies after a certain level of gear was fast pacing.
Now with all these changes of mod 6 with heroic encounters in IWD being extremely hard and even normal enemies being difficult to defeat, you are hitting buttons with skills after skills and you dont do any damage, but you are a one hit kill even from a normal low-level enemy. All the gear i had previously is worthless, so i got new gear. I dont grind too much, because i have life outside the game and i only need decent gear not great, but the new gear does not even have bonus stats for full sets, the only thing they have is more HP. And if anyone is wondering what my gear is, now is 1950 gear item for a character trapper HR who has almost 70.000 HP but can not do much damage.
I know what someone is going to say "grind for better gear". Well my answer to anyone with that reply is where to grind? All the fun place of content is too hard for me alone to venture and if i want to team up with others to defeat heroic encounters in IWD for example not even a team of 5 people can defeat those 73 level heroic monsters. So what people do? They team up in groups of 20-30 people where no one is seeing what is doing or happening, and no one knows how all the monsters die. Great skills and strategy, guys, very fun gaming. I am not talking only for IWD campaign but for all those 70 level content. Thank god DR and Shar is still beatable, but the time to defeat the enemies in those campaigns is twice or more slower and harder, and you will die a lot, just because three low level enemies can attack you and kill you right away, while you had to make to them 50 hits before they drop. How realistic, design team.
I am not really looking for realism in this game, just for a fun game, and after all these years of playing, it's the first time i really hate this new game. It's too hard and it's not fun to me to die a lot from low level enemies. You could have placed those hard enemies in a certain area and not all over the content. The completion of campaigns should be solo beatable. And changing the life steal effect, i liked it at first, i dont know if it's good or bad, but now you have to use only one companion, the healer, if you are not a healer yourself.
And what about removing the bonus win in pvp matches? Now it's not even matter if you finish last or first in them, you get no bonus game completion.
I only hope for someone from the designers see this and reply to me. You have really taken away the fun from the game for me. I know many others will disagree with me, but these are my thoughts.
I got better gear by running GG. 4x each night, maybe a couple of extras from time to time. That got me a Grim set and then I started on my t1 PvE set running dungeons in my Grim set (heck I still have a bit of the Grim).
In contrast to you I like the increase in difficulty. Its not so hard that I find it undoable, but it is hard. I used to fall asleep (literally) grinding dailies before Mod 6 and so I stopped playing the game except when there was new content (mainly class wise) that was worth my time to explore.
I need to take my HR back to IWD, but I've never found it so hard that it takes more than 2 people to do the dailies, and the HE's at least need a number of people close to what they indicate mostly. Which is again a good thing I think. Far better than the old "my character solos a HE for 3-5 without breaking a sweet" days.
Just as a note though, HRs are now weaker. They didn't get much in the way of improvement in Mod6 and so while the content got harder they didn't get a "step up" to manage it. So perhaps the problem is less the content than the issues the class is facing.
Obsidian Moonlight - Paladin Obsidian Oath - Warlock A whole lot of other Obsidian toons as well.

Yeah last week, then they went on to not bother deploying it onto the live server so we could suffer a 3rd week of people abusing it.
