With mod 6 will it become useless or will it scales to 70 ? (Hesitating to buy a black ice shaping booster pack for the gloves)

Don't buy the pack for the gloves unless they re-run the promotion where you can get them that way. So far that was a one-time offer and it's long since over.

If you check the dev tracker, you'll see that there will be a way of making better BI gear, which will be competitive with other top-end items, but we don't know all the details yet.

A bit of both. It's getting a new upgrade tier so it can be made stronger. And you can do so with your existing black ice gear, so you won't need to loot a new set. But the gear itself is getting tuned down from a tier 3 set to a 1.5 set and will no longer offer black ice resistance. That stat is going away completely.

I don't think it will be tuned down. Post says it will be between the low and high dungeon gear, but referring to the new level 70 dungeon gear, not the old T1/T2. So it will be more like T4.5, assuming new low dungeon set is T4 and high set is T5.

Removing the wide usability (and power and considering how painful twas for some to get it complete) of any of the two versions of the BI set would be an ..the insult to players/customers. As long as twill stay as a medium choice for both pve and pvp, no matter what more it takes to improve it for lvl 70, am fine.

But, we yet have to c.

Ah. It does not say so on the Gateway tooltip, and I'm quite surprised there's no news post about it.

By the looks of the beta gateway black ice gear 'upgrades' into lvl 70 blue quality gear with no set bonus unless it is still a work in progress, I'm just going on the preview server now to see if it looks any different on there.

I'm actually guessing that the new set rarity is just wrong and the set isnt finished yet. Have you noticed on preview the AH has the new Tier above legendary there now (its glitched though so doesnt have the right name) Its unlikely but maybe the new elemental black ice set will be that color tier. haha
People are way too negative, Why cant we just all get along.

The Black Ice Crafting level 4 stuff is blue, the Black Ice Crafting level 5 stuff is purple.

And note: It is only the old arms you can use to create the new stuff. For the other items you need to start with the bought parts.

You need to pay 50k Black Ice for crafting level 4 and 25k for crafting level 2 plus what the bought parts cost plus whatever the recipes take. Getting the upgraded Black Ice Armor will be fairly expensive in Black Ice.

On the plus side, the upgraded gear does not take Black Ice to maintain, at least the way it is currently.

First, don't blindly believe anything unless it is from an official announcement.

Currently, the Black Ice set is far from being the best set in Preview and it has no set bonus even after the Rank 5 BI upgrades.

However, it is still level 60 so you can use them for leveling until you run into (probably) something better from PVE drop or reach level 70 and get the Elemental pvp set.

From what I see from the Preview Forum Black Ice Gear thread, a Cryptic developer answered about the change in Black Ice damage and resistance and the lack of set bonus as well as questions in tenacity but he did not indicate any plan of better Black Ice gear is in the work. Anything from a non-cryptic developer is just player's own speculations.

I don't miss those. Neither do other people. Perhaps you miss the greatness of the Elemental pvp gear.

The 2 elven sets are infact not PVP, and no set bonuses at the current moment.
(which I would like to see added in the hopeful near future :) )

I have not had any luck in locating where or how you get the initial epic item to make the new elven set.
I am primarily interested in the elven Raid set for my HR. If any one knows please let me know here or ingame via game mail @dyeslee

I am very close to unlocking rank 4 Black ice forging. only need a cple more unified elements...

I didn't miss them , the OP asked if he should buy the Black ice shaping booster pack to get the black ice gloves and if he did would the gear be obsolete in module 6 , the epic quality gear crafted at rank 5 black ice shaping has nothing to do with existing black ice gear.
